So you agree with me... great! I've been saying that throughout the entirety of this thread. DayZ contains elements of twitch, as does almost every other game ever made. To quote myself: All twitch refers to is a situation that forces you to quickly react. That's it. QTEs, being caught in an unfavorable position in a FPS (tactical or not), or any other game that incorporates elements of you using your mouse/keyboard/controller as fast as you bloody can in order to survive is twitch. The only games that aren't/dont are turn-based games in which you can perform your move, walk away from your computer, grab a coffee, come back, and then react to your opponent's move. Am I claiming DayZ is a twitch shooter? No. It just has elements of twitch. The people in this thread claiming that you don't have to quickly react in order to survive in a close quarters situation are either really stubborn, or really stupid. Do I run into a building with my AWP and Deagle, hear an enemy behind me, jump and do a 180º turn whole no-scoping him in the face? No. But if I'm flanked by someone who got the drop on me I'm reacting just as quickly in order to kill him and survive, perhaps even more so. Anyway, this topic has been beaten to death and I was happy that it died already. If you can't decipher from this post (let alone my previous posts) what exactly I'm trying to communicate here, then I don't know what else to say. =) /tapping out

This. I am currently rocking the Logitech G35 headset (and have been since December 2010). It's the best headset I've ever had. It's lasted for hundreds (thousands?!) of hours. And Logitech's customer service and warranties are awesome. They sent me a brand new G110 keyboard even after the warranty had expired since I bought all of my peripherals from them. <3 Logi!

"Failed to load profile. You character have been resetted"
Grimey Rick replied to razgriz93@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
It happens every now and then to me. It hasn't happened in a long while as I've stuck to the same half a dozen servers for the past couple of months. Your best bet is to do the same. =) -
Since you got it for free, couldn't you just, y'know, install it and give it a whirl?

DayZ lagging with good computer? HELP!
Grimey Rick replied to whincup123 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Buy a better graphics card. That lag you're experiencing when you zoom in has nothing to do with latency, that's all your GPU. I used to get that from time to time even with two GTX 580s in SLI. Don't get it anymore since upgrading to GTX 780 Ti cards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_HD_5000_Series -

Wow, this again? Any game that isn't turn-based is twitch. There are varying degrees of twitch, which I've said umpteen times in this thread. Quake and Unreal Tournament are extremely twitch-based. Counter-Strike is very much twitch-based, as well. StarCraft and League of Legends are twitch-based games. Even TETRIS is a twitch-based game. Any game that requires any amount of quick reaction is classified as twitch, even if it's once every ten minutes when you finally flank your opponent in a tactical shooter. There are times when people slowly move their reticle over a camping opponent, but just as many encounters take place in close-quarters combat where every movement of the mouse and button pressed on the keyboard is crucial. Final Fantasy VII is not twitch. Hearthstone is not twitch. DayZ is still twitch-based, whether or not it's to the same level as other games.

For a laptop, it's not bad. =) You'll be able to play most newer games on Ultra settings and see upwards of 30 frames per second. I am not a fan of gaming on a laptop as you could get a much better value for the same money going with a desktop, but rest assured you'll be fine running current generation titles nonetheless.

Welcome to December!

Swapping/adding an SSD to a laptop is just a matter of a very small screwdriver (Torx T6, I think?) and about five minutes of your time. (;

Toss a SSD into it and you're laughing.

I looted a kitted Mosin from a guy that I had downed and noticed that the ammo in his gun had a "comma" written on it while in his gun. Normally you don't see the amount of ammo left in a gun that isn't in a magazine/clip. It kept firing, and firing, and firing. And the Morphine I mentioned could be used infinitely. It didn't have a quantity written on it, but it was "Ruined" and somehow kept working. :3

Yeah... 2/10

Grimey Rick does what Rick Grimes can't. Kills innocents, hate-fucked Lori while she was still alive, and beats the shit out of Carl on a regular basis.

Then I am the BIGGEST "nooby" ever! :3
-
Oh sorry, I didn't catch the used part. I thought it was brand new. Word.
-
I've looted unlimited stacks of 7.62x51mm rounds, 5.56mm rounds, and unlimited Morphines from people. This isn't uncommon. It's getting too far out of hand.

Barely more powerful* Also, SLI/CF still have so many issues, it makes me regret not waiting for the GTX 790. And gibonez, I'd have to see a receipt to believe that deal. ;3

I get 90+ FPS with one 780 Ti in ARMA 3's campaign/scenarios on Ultra. I have SLI disabled for ARMA 3 because RV. Are those your FPS online?

So how much of a thrill do you cheaters get when playing DayZ?
Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I tried to grab it through the wall of the jail cell, and I went prone and tried to collide hard enough with the stairs to maybe clip through to grab it. It was a sad evening. If memory serves me correctly, you used to be able to snug right up to the boxes underneath the stairs... it would appear that now you can't. A sad, sad day. =( -

I haven't actually been able to load it as I haven't found any arrows yet. The model displays an arrow already attached to it, and when you draw and release the bow it acts as if you've shot something. Hopefully when I find some bolts I can let you know. =) -
Faster way to get military geared up?
Grimey Rick replied to DarkRattle's topic in General Discussion
Like Irish said, the run to NWAF is definitely worth it if you're looking to make the most efficient trip. From any spawn location, it's no more than a half hour to NWAF. Sometimes I'll run there for the crème de la crème stuff, other times I just spawn in Berezino or Svetlojarsk and make do with what I can find. It depends on my mood. =) I've made a little list showing you the places you'll have the most luck looting particular weapons and attachments. Keep in mind some of these weapons/attachments spawn in locations I haven't mentioned; this list is for the most common spawns: WEAPONS Mosin/SKS/B95 - Police Stations, Schools, TEC Office Buildings. The Mosin and B95 are now spawning quite often at Military BasesM4A1 - Airstrips/fields, Military Bases, Military Camps (SWAF, NWAF)FNX45, M1911, CR75, Magnum .357 - Military Bases, Fire Stations, Schools, TEC Office BuildingsATTACHMENTS Long Range Scope, ACOG, M68, RV1, BUIS, FNP45 MRD, Suppressor (Pistol), Suppressor 556 (M4A1), MP/RIS Handguard, MP/CQB Buttstock, - Airstrips/fields, Military Bases, Military Camps (SWAF, NWAF)PU Scope, Mosin M44 Compensator, ATLAS Bipod, Pistol Flashlight, Weapon Flashlight - Airstrips/fields, Military Bases, Military Camps (SWAF, NWAF), Pubs, Taverns, Schools, Storage Units (Chapaevsk, Chernaya Polana, etc.), TEC Office BuildingsI think that's pretty much everything. Let me know if I missed something. -
What dayz could have been without zombies
Grimey Rick replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
You'll never convince people that DayZ would be better without zeds. I agree with you entirely that it would be, but the majority of players (myself included) bought this game because they like zombies. Since buying the game, I've come to realize that zombies are the most aggravating game mechanic I've ever experienced in a game. In both the mod and standalone they just show you when someone is around. They're glitchy, clunky and not at all threatening. Like you said, they're more akin to mosquitoes. They'll never be tweaked to the level necessary to add to immersion. Instead, they take away from immersion with how unrealistic they are and will ever be. Since playing the shit out of DayZ, even as an avid zombie fan, I have to admit that it'd be better if they dropped the Z and just called it Day. =) -
One guy with his gun away can still faceroll his way through three guys with their guns holstered. :3 An M4A1, SKS, or FNX makes quick work of three defenseless targets.
