Are snipers the most harmless thing in DayZ?
Grimey Rick replied to bauertschi's topic in General Discussion
I never miss. Well, I do sometimes. Okay, I miss whenever they zig-zag like a middle-aged white guy on bath salts. -
Why do you guys want to remove the player list? This is a video game. It's nice to know you're still in a full server. I don't really care if I can see other players' names (because really what information does that provide?), but I want to know if there are still 36/40 people or 5/40 people on the server. At the end of the day, it seems like a lot of discussion for a fairly pointless change. How much "immersion" is not being able to see who else is on the server really going to provide? If you feel it'll add immersion to your game, unbind your P key. EDIT: teh splelingz

I have 1,000+ hours played and I've seen a shitload of cheaters. Do I win because I waved around my logged time? /facepalm A friend of mine who rolls with me has only had the game for a week, and he's already seen enough to quit.

I'm at 1,000+ hours and probably almost as many kills. I help people the odd time, but for the most part I kill on sight because of the cheerleading Redditors. Surely I've slaughtered a few by now. I hope.

Easy fix: don't press P.

How difficult would you like the game to be?
Grimey Rick replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I want to have to eat my shirt. -
The Tactical Vests and Press Vests were "plagued" (a good type of plague) with the curse of returning to Pristine condition after being hit by a zombie. I was able to maintain mine for so long due to this bug. e.g: If my vest would become Damaged or Badly Damaged after being hit, I'd simply let a zombie hit me a few times. Instead of ruining it, the zombie hits would actually have the reverse effect and make it Pristine.

That would be cool, but judging by the way things have been going, having them come up with such a system is a long shot. While carrying two guns, a couple bags of rice and a canteen might only end up being around 40 pounds, it should be extremely encumbering to do so. Versus carrying a pistol, ten bags of rice, five canteens and a small hatchet that would all fit into your bag. So yeah, I'm on board for that type of system, I've just given up on hoping for anything besides numerical weight limits, a stamina bar and plastic weapon attachments increasing your accuracy to that of an expert marksman.

Aside from making you walk like you're wading through quicksand, Skyrim's realistic carrying weight mod would fit DayZ perfectly. Instead of walking like cold molasses going uphill in the winter, a simple "I can't carry anymore" message would suffice. In all honesty, there are dozens of things DayZ could take from Skyrim that would benefit the game. Frostfall, Hunterborn, Realistic Needs/Diseases, among others. Those mods actually make Skyrim difficult when properly used. Current DayZ is less of a survival experience than vanilla Skyrim, which is pretty sad. EDIT: teh splelingz

How could we deal with hackers?

Because that would happen. -
Many people seem to not actually know what "Alpha" means...

How dare you insult the agonizingly slow pace of DayZ's development?! Blasphemy! Mods! MODS! Arrest this heretic and have him hung by his eyelids and flogged until he blinks! EDIT: Obvious sarcasm is obvious, I hope. -
This thread is not funny. I'll try to resuscitate it:

Glitch abusers have found their way into the appartments now..
Grimey Rick replied to toasted duckie's topic in General Discussion
With the most recent patch, it is now possible to get into/under any building. They've actually made it worse. -
HAY MNA UR A JERK I LIEK TEH FAKT DAT WEHN I POOT A PEICE OF PALSTIC ON MY GNU IT MAEKS IT WAY MOAR ACKURTAE But seriously, I think it's time they do something with the attachment system. Equipping a different plastic handguard should not increase your accuracy at all.

So how much of a thrill do you cheaters get when playing DayZ?
Grimey Rick posted a topic in General Discussion
Honestly, how much fun can shooting people through walls be? Or when you get shot at, teleporting to safety? Do you feel empowered that you can do things legitimate players can't? Do you get a false sense of superiority by tracking players in your little ESP boxes? This game isn't even nearly the first game in which I've been exposed to cheaters, but it definitely pisses me off the most. These people who teleport up to a wall, talk shit pertaining to how they're going to kill you, teleport away, and then BLAM! Dead from within a building where you shouldn't have been able to be shot. This is easily the umpteenth time this has happened to me and my friends. And for anyone who wants to call desync... no. Just, stop. Desync was a viable excuse a couple of months ago, but this shit is rampant now. I really like this game, but fuck, after , I guess it's about time I found a reason to stop playing for a while. =)- 79 replies

I ran out of a jail the other day on stable and a guy started shooting at me from a bush. I rubber-banded back to the second floor of the jail out of harm's way. The one time it's ever prevented me from dying.

Again, citing the developers as the supreme chancellors of the knowledge of the universe. Who cares if it's a "lot more work"? They've already made more money than most games make after a full release. Let's see some results. They wanted to market DayZ as an authentic/realistic survival horror experience, so let's see some more of that authenticity/realism and less random, stupid shit. The fact that there's a long range scope able to be slid on every Mosin in Chernarus is dumb. Why can't the B95 use it? They're more concerned with adding new pants to the game than having the art team work on accurate representations of guns.

Saw this floating around. Yes please!
Grimey Rick replied to Daemonkid's topic in General Discussion
Wow guys, it's a zombie game. Zombies eat people. There's going to be gore. If you're a fan of zombie movies (which I assume you'd have to be to be interested in a game based upon them) then you're no stranger to gore. Gore is part of the appeal of zombies. I haven't seen too many "classy" (lol?) zombie movies where the zombies chase down their victims, kill them, and walk away. They feast on you when they kill you! That's part of the horror. It's bad enough to know you're going to die, but to know something is going to freaking maul you, rip open your insides and eat your innards just adds insult to injury. -

Experimental Branch: 0.45 Discussion
Grimey Rick replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
I can live with all of the little bugs currently plaguing Experimental. What I can't live with, however, is this: I don't really follow Reddit/Twitter or anything, but has anyone heard whether or not they're looking at this issue? It's really hard to test the new features when you're fighting to pull yourself out of a building's gravitational pull. -

I have found several Ashwood Sticks near Vybor. The trees that look like Weeping Willows between Vybor and the Military Base are what you're looking for.

The processor alone is ~$100, so yeah, good luck throwing a Radeon HD 8570, 1TB HDD, 6GB of memory, mouse, keyboard, case, power supply, and a copy of Windows 8 together for ~$140-160. @OP: Aforementioned experts aside, the computer is definitely not worth buying. Do you have a friend who could piece one together for you? Your bang:buck ratio would be a lot higher.
