i wanna start hoarding ! whats up with persistent storage?
Grimey Rick replied to brumey's topic in General Discussion
qww versus Bororm in a battle of passive-aggressive trolling, oi. This should be entertaining. -
I don't normally bother with pistols as I roll primarily with a kitted M4A1. The odd time I use a pistol it's a Magnum to go with my Mosin. However, after dying an unfortunate death by rubber-banding from the top of the ATC in NWAF, I quickly respawned and began gearing up again. I started in Kamyshovo and found a 1911. "Meh," I murmured as I picked up the pistol, "Why not?" I ran from Kamyshovo to Elektrozavodsk where I looted a bunch of .45 ammunition, but no magazines to be found for my new gun. Onward to Balota I trudged by which time I was fully-kitted after passing through Chernogorsk and Chapaevsk with clothes (that matched since I'm such a diva;), backpack, food and water, plenty of bandages, two saline bags and a morphine injector. However, I still hadn't found a magazine for this damn thing! I arrived at an untouched airstrip. Upon entering the first jail, I found what I had been searching for, the means with which to properly defend myself: a 1911 magazine! After listening to the fairly silent yet satisfying "click" as it slid into the chamber, I set out towards the ATC and beyond. Fifty or so metres from my destination I saw a fellow making his way from the barracks towards the jail next to the hangars so I quickly ducked into the ATC. Unfortunately, he had also spotted me and quickly vanished behind the jail. I somewhat nervously waited for any sign of him as in my mind, I wasn't properly equipped to deal with the M4A1-toting Rambo lookalike that he appeared to be. After maybe five minutes, I saw him encroaching upon the rear of the ATC with his gun locked 'n' loaded. I sent out an amiable, "Greetings, adventurer! Stay a while and listen," à la Deckard Cain from the infamous Diablo series. Nothing. He crept further towards the back wall of my hideout. My next thought was somewhere along the line of, "For fuck's sake. I just got all this lurvely stuffs! :(" I prepared myself for the worst and dug in on the second level as I heard him entering the building beneath me. Expecting him to slowly make his way up the stairs, I aimed down the sight at the floor towards the staircase and waited. To my surprise, he burst up the staircase while spraying a torrent of 5.56mm terror in my general direction as he rounded the stairwell. It startled me and gave him the opportunity to get closer to me than I'd hoped; my plan had been to pop him one in the head as soon as it appeared above that concrete horizon, but such was not the case. Instead, I popped two rounds into his chest with the intention of retreating to the top of the ATC. I watched in amazement as he doubled over, dead as a nit. I double-checked the magazine in my 1911, and sure enough, it was at 5/7 rounds remaining. This gun rocks. :3 TL;DR: teh 1911 is teh winz!!1! EDIT: Added TL;DR. I didn't mean to go on for so long. ;D

Who hacks in guns? How exactly would you do that? Are you referring to duping? Or are you saying people can make items appear whenever they want?

Grimey Rick replied to brumey's topic in General Discussion
It's not high on the priority list.™ -
This was mine, I lost it a little over a month ago now: They weren't "hacked" into the game, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They were taken off the loot table because they don't fit the female characters correctly (as you can see in my screenshot), but if you had one before they were removed, you were able to keep it.

Can the dumbassery, please. While Gibonez can be excessive at times, it's not because he's trying to ruin DayZ. He's an avid realism enthusiast and most of his ideas would add more realism to this "authentic/realistic" survival horror title. He's right, we can move around like we're playing Quake. It has to be all or nothing with this type of game.

So how much of a thrill do you cheaters get when playing DayZ?
Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Breaking Point is pretty fun, I've been playing it on and off for a few months now. I just really can't get into the Arma 3 animations. Running is so bad. So, so bad. ;P It makes Arma 2 look good in that respect. -

I actually just hit 1000 yesterday. -
Anyone else think DayZ should switch engines?

I think DayZ should switch DIMENSIONS. -
Military bases have wayy to much loot
Grimey Rick replied to Sirwarriant12's topic in General Discussion
A chambered Sporter, a 1911 with one magazine, some attachments for various guns you don't have, a damaged gas mask, some G.I. Joe clothes and you're still hungry. You, sir, are a force to be reckoned with! -
I hate to say it, but I axed someone at NEAF today.

Who's idea was it to make spawns in Berezino?

I lol'd. I watched it again. I lol'd some more. -

Grimey Rick replied to FrostDMG's topic in General Discussion
You're asking too much. Adding more spawns points requires at the very least an $80,000,000 budget. -
Remind me never to play with you.

Grimey Rick replied to FrostDMG's topic in General Discussion
You should be able to spawn ANYWHERE on the coast. It's random; you're not going to spawn at the same spot twice NEAF is only a few strides further from the coast than SWAF/Balota Elektrozavodsk/Chernogorsk are just as effective at gearing a character as the airfields areOn top of that, remove the tents at Balota so that SWAF and NEAF are relatively equal as far as loot is concerned, and force players to vie for dominance of NWAF if they really want the military goods. It isn't rocket surgery, derp. Players spawn fanned out along the coast, all headed inland towards a universally appealing common goal. This will increase player encounters in places other than Berezino as players will be traveling through almost every town on their way to the north-west corner of the map. -
This just in: ~$40,000,000 and a doubled development team can't fix light shining through walls in a video game. More at 6.
-
Just prevent players from looting their own corpse. I've mentioned that before, and people have been like, "AMG BUT WEHN I RSPEAWN IM SUM1 NEW SO I SOUHLD BE ABEL 2 LEWT MAI OLD COPSRE". No, you shouldn't!

I'd just pop him in the head, as would most people here. My reasoning? He's obviously too used to being kitted out and deserves a rude reminder as to why you don't get sloppy. Don't let their Jedi mind tricks sway you. Deep within us all is a Sith Lord.

Yes, please buff my favorite weapon. Never mind the fact it's almost a semi-automatic medium-range Mosin. The only situation in which the SKS is "underpowered" is when three guys rush a building you're defending. Other than that, it's frag-tastic. I support this thread.

So I've been aiming strictly with the center dot lately...
Grimey Rick posted a topic in General Discussion
...and I'm blown away by its accuracy (no pun intended). Aiming down the sights is so clunky, not to mention the current issues with blurriness when post-processing is enabled. Using the center dot to aim, however, makes the game feel like Counter-Strike and is far too accurate, even while zoomed in. Weren't they supposed to remove the center dot? In its current implementation there's little reason to use the iron sights. I seem to recall the center dot being fairly inaccurate when I first started playing. Did they change this recently? Anyway, how many of you use the center dot instead of iron sights? -

Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
You cringed? Haha. The dot is still bang-on accurate. I've been testing it with every gun for the last two days, and I'd say the M4 and SKS are the most accurate with it. I've been spraying with it in buildings, and picking people off with it at range. I killed two gentlemen who were looting the top of the ATC last night while I was behind the hangar at NEAF just by zooming via holding right-click with the M4. Furthermore, when using pistols, it's more accurate to use the dot than it is the iron sights at anything more than 20m. -
Server Resets are getting a bit frustrating.
Grimey Rick replied to bain's topic in General Discussion
I just played for an hour or so on the ZombZ server. It restarted, and upon reconnecting, I was a fresh spawn. This is strange since I was in the middle of the woods running from Gvozdno to NWAF. Intriguing. -
Yeah it's nothing at all like you describing your gun being randomly put away after x amount of time being drawn. Not at all. Yeah, it's more than likely a new hack that enables players to take control of the server. It's definitely not a bug, right? #datsourcecode If you're not already (I doubt it due to your communication skills ((or lack thereof))), you should be in politics.
