Neither, this:

You're missing the fact that IT'S NOT YET A GAME, it's currently being developed. There is MASSIVE improvement to zombie pathing on the Experimental branch. If you think the only thing they're working on is adding clothes then you should follow Reddit and Twitter more closely.
-
You guys are just bitching. That's not offering constructive feedback. Generally stating, "The mod is better" when you're comparing it to a game that's essentially a shell of its potential in Early Access is indicative that you're either morons or just bitching because you're bored with the game. Either way, waste of your own time. If you followed DayZ's progress at all you'd know they recently hired and began training double the amount of staff they had when they began this project. Updates will be larger and more frequent in the months to come if what we've been told is true. If you're tired of Berezino PVP go back to the mod or play something else for a while. It's not complicated.
-
The only "problem" with DayZ's development is allowing Early Access. Everyone is an expert, development is never fast enough, and nobody knows as much as half of this entitled community. You bought a game that gave ample warning about being Early Access and what that means. If you don't like the game in its current state, take a break for a few months or until it's officially released. Incessant bitching isn't helping development. Play it for what it is, report bugs, and wait patiently for updates.

Isn't the little troll that obviously doesn't understand game development absolutely ADORABLE?! Aww!
-
Because I don't want to fragment the community any more than it already is, as it's unhealthy for this type of game. We already have Hardcore and Regular servers, so we'd need Hardcore and Regular variations of the server type you're suggesting as well. It's hard enough as it is to find more than a half dozen 40/40 servers on stable without having to further divvy up those numbers. Even more so if you're trying to find full servers that afford you a desirable latency. If it were up to me (and I fully realize it isn't) we'd only have Hardcore servers. There's no need to add further server types to DayZ. We should all be mashed together in one unanimous free-for-all.
-
Actually, it is something personal against deaf people because you're essentially saying that you want them to play on servers of their own. What if you met a deaf survivor in a real apocalypse situation? There would be time spent attempting to communicate via hand signals and perhaps writing things down on paper. There's your immersion for people who don't/can't use microphones. /thread

All amazing examples. Bravo. I'll have to start using my microphone ASAP to improve my game (even though I haven't died on my Hardcore character since January ((still have the ballistic helmet / gas mask combo equipped)), only play on full servers and actively PVP at airfields). I wouldn't end up dead in that situation as I'm not a moron and wouldn't log out in a contested area. As for your suggestion, that's terrible. You want to segregate an entire demographic of people because they can't speak? You should be in politics.
-
If you spawn in on me in a contested area, yeah, you're dead. The only time I really use my in-game microphone is when I'm trolling people by myself (which I do a lot of) or with friends. My previous post was made from the point of view of someone playing this game in a serious manner. The microphone is definitely a useful tool, however, I don't feel that it's necessary and certainly shouldn't be forced upon people for a multitude of reasons.
-
I have a microphone, but I rarely use it. In most situations I don't feel that it's necessary. I can generally judge from a little surveillance what a player is up to. In most cases, I observe and then terminate or avoid the other player. I can't think of one scenario in 1,000+ hours of DayZ:SA that a microphone has been beneficial.

One could ask, "What is the point of DayZ in its entirety?" No missions. No quests. No achievements. There is no correct way to play. Let the prepubescent pukes have their fun camping in buildings. It makes it all the more satisfying when they eat my ricocheted bullets while calling me a hacker.
-
I used to play DayZ for the challenge of surviving, but yeah, there's not a whole lot of difficulty at this stage of the game. Until it's finished, I'll just be reporting bugs that I come across while trolling people hard in various ways for my own amusement.

If DayZ scares you, then for the love of God and all that is holy, don't install Outlast, Amnesia or Daylight. #soundadvice

I have discovered how to distort space and time in Chernarus+!

I haven't seen this on the bug tracker, so I thought I'd post it here first to see if it's been brought to the attention of the developers. It's a minor glitch that makes zero sense to me, haha. When you drop a gun holster with a pistol inside of it onto the floor, in several buildings (in this example, a jail/detention building) it completely throws off the geometry. This happened to me and my friend, no matter where we were inside the room pictured. Before dropping the gun holster containing a pistol: After dropping the gun holster containing a pistol: Has anyone else run into this? -
EDITED - PETITION: Should a sound be made when we log on and off?
Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
So many people here acting like they're Rosa Parks being told to sit at the back of the bus, haha. Adding a sound when you log on (which was already part of the game for the last five months and didn't hurt anything, even if it was a poor choice for a sound effect) or off only hurts you if you're not insuring the safety of your character. If you don't want to possibly be ambushed upon logging in, log off somewhere away from the mainstay of contested loot areas. Your character's well-being is in your hands by making such a choice, however, the well-being of the character being shot when you log on and pop him in the back when he's already cleared a certain area is completely out of his/her control. Not being able to log out in a building isn't a viable solution. If a player wants to log out in a building knowing full well when they log back on they'll make a subtle, yet noticeable noise that's their choice. All I'm proposing is giving the players who are already logged into the game a little peace of mind. Just because someone is already logged in isn't a reason to put them at a disadvantage. -
Sawed-off IZH-43 disappearing out of Hunter backpack

I didn't claim I like how it works, did I? I'm just informing him how to avoid losing items until it's fixed. I reported this issue months ago and am still waiting for a fix. -

Your bags must be organized from the top to bottom. If you have empty bag slots above the items within the bag, when you log on the game organizes them from top to bottom. Sometimes items can be deleted during this process, so make sure to leave no empty slots above items in your bag. -
If H1Z1 will have squads and clans at early access why ...
Grimey Rick replied to Demonio (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
You guys are right, DayZ is the hardest game I've ever played. Seriously though, this game is trying to maintain its niche/indie status even though it's one of the best selling games on Steam. -
Is Dayz standalone even relevant anymore?

Epoch is DayZ's World of Warcraft Mod. -
Grouping a nationality together (in this case, Russians) and shooting them as soon as your hear their "accent" is just as bad as being a blatant racist. Also, hi.

EDITED - PETITION: Should a sound be made when we log on and off?
Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
I can hear people from one end of a building to another. I think we make enough noise as it is; if anything, we should be able to move even more silently, as sneaking up on someone is currently impossible in a normal scenario. However, there's not much to be done if someone loads in right behind you without making a sound. Wall glitching was just one more reason on top of the others to implement the sounds again. There's currently no foreseeable fix, so in the meantime, the sounds would be a viable alternative to nothing at all. Login timers are all fine and dandy, but in any standoff that lasts more than seven minutes (which is generally most of them), you can easily ghost the other team or be ghosted yourself without any means of defense. If you happen to be looking the wrong way or on the wrong level of the guy who decides to ghost, you're fucked. -

Then you've definitely got a hardware issue. That hasn't happened to anyone I play with, not even my kid who has an older computer running the game on minimum settings. Do you have a poor connection, or a dying hard drive? -

Meh, you're just splitting hairs at this point. A building is a building. From what Rocket said, we're only going to be able to barricade at first, so we won't be building from scratch (to begin with, anyway). Also, Rocket's post has nothing to do with logging on inside of a neutral building, so it'll have no effect on people ghosting in that (far more common) situation. Really? Then why can I still get inside of the jails walls, ATC walls and underneath almost every other building in the game on the current experimental build? Every time they release a new experimental build that's literally the first thing I do: Run to NEAF -> NWAF -> SWAF and all of the military bases in between trying to get into the walls to see if they've finally fixed a game-breaking exploit. They've "fixed" this issue several times at this point. If they're working on it, they're doing a really bad job. I'm sure that eventually they'll find something that works, but in the meantime, as stated in the OP, a little warning would be nice if/when someone decides to log on inside a wall of a building you're in. This sound doesn't affect those who run to a safe location and log out. One could make the claim that there are no safe locations in DayZ, but that's a bit of a stretch. It's pretty easy to find a spot you know no one will be near the next time you connect. The login/out sound would not affect these people whatsoever. It would only affect those who are being lazy, ghosting, or trying to get a cheap kill by logging out inside of a contested building. This has been stated numerous times now; we're not just talking about ghosting here, tu comprends? Also, I never called you or anyone else a douche... Let it go. (; Every thread on every online forum I've ever seen goes in circles as there are generally people on both sides of a debate. Welcome to the internet. "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks." -

Well, you did mention buildings in general, so I think he's safe in assuming bases would also be included in your suggestion. If anything, bases should be a more pressing issue than the normal buildings, as the most grief will be aimed at player-owned structures. Also, this thread isn't solely for nullifying ghosting (which Rocket's solution doesn't fully address anyway), but also aims to fix the other issues addressed in the OP. A simple sound made upon logging on/off won't hurt anyone (except those who are logging out in unsafe places which is counter-productive in a survival game), and also remedies several currently pressing issues.
