ATLAS Bipod thread: once and for all

I was using my friend's M4 the other night when he died which had an attached bipod. I haven't been able to attach a bipod to an AK variant (with the appropriate hand rail) for quite some time. EDIT: pix plz?

    Winchesters....where art thou?

I die all the time... ...in Bloodborne. I never die in DayZ. I'm the best player. This is known.

Is anyone else a human magnet?

Wait — you ran into someone at NWAF, tent city, and Berezino?! Yeah, that's unbeLIEVable. EDIT: for epicness

Akm or blaze 95 as primary?

Keep the AKM. B95s are everywhere, and unless you're a really good shot, you're better off with the spray 'n' pray capabilities of the AKM (even though the recoil is still horrendous...).

Questions About The Current State of DayZ

I think the game is fine. I can still have a blast playing DayZ, even at 1,600 hours. Is it buggy? Of course—it's still in the alpha stage. They're pretty much where they said they'd be at this point. People need to untie their panties, and wait.

    Glow Plug?

I've only found a few so far, and it's always been inside of sheds. I'm not sure why, as most sheds wouldn't contain glow plugs. They'd generally be taken from other cars, or found in stores. I guess everyone in Chernarus is a mechanic.

    No Server Hopping?

This shouldn't even be a discussion—if you don't want to deal with server hoppers, pick a Private server and stick with it—problem solved.

    Grenades?

Grenades are not in the game, as far as I know. As others have mentioned, they've been gone since 0.56. I'm fine with that, as they were the wonkiest mechanic to be implemented so far. Until they're optimized, they can stay gone. ;3

    Winchesters....where art thou?

Not in my experience—as a matter of fact, I find the B95 to be extremely accurate, even without a scope.

    Winchesters....where art thou?

Yup, this. I don't understand the boner everyone has for the Winchester. They both use. 308 and the B95 allows for a follow-up shot. Add to that the current bug with speed/snap-loaders and you're good to go.

Are vests required for maximized bullet protection?

Yep, you'll take less damage. However, the chest holster provides the same protection. It's what I always use.
  12. Unfortunately, Mr. Michael Voodoo the 25th, it has.
  13. Fuck it. I don't need another warning point. (;
  14. DISCLAIMER: Typing this on my phone, potential grammatical genocide to follow. Does anyone one else recall the glory days of DayZ: Standalone when - generally - one bullet to the chest/back was death? Every now and then you'd get shot in the arm or leg, but for the most part, as soon as you heard a bullet ring out out was quickly followed by, "You are dead." Me and the wife were talking about this yesterday, and it got me taking a walk down Memory Lane. All we do is seek out other players with which to engage in some PVP these days. What sparked the conversation to begin with was how easy PVP has become over the past year and a half; the thrill of exposing yourself whilst changing positions, of pushing on your opponent, of taking fire from an unknown assailant...it all feels so...empty lately. If I'm looting an area and begin to take fire, I don't panic anymore. I know that the odds are that - even if said assassin manages to hit me - I'm more than likely not going to die. I can just...run away. Once I get enough distance I can heal myself, and then choose whether or not to re-engage. In the past, the Mosin would kill you in one shot. Period. Even if you were healthy with military gear equipped, a shot to the chest was death. The M4A1 would normally kill in one shot to the chest, and always two. It felt so much more realistic and added a lot more to the value of your character's life. You were literally one potential step away from death at all times. I'm not posting this to incite an argument; to be honest, trolling for people's reactions that I'll never truly get to see appreciate is more or less behind me these days. This is just some food for thought, and me probing around to garner other people's input. Also, for the record, I'm quite good at killing people at this point. I'm not looking to make the game easier for myself by asking for the old damage system to be reinstated so that I can then camp on Sniper Hill in Elektro - quite the opposite, in fact. I'm looking to experience the infamous DayZ fear and paranoia that I've long since forgotten. Anyone else agree, or am I just a strikingly handsome loner?

    I think I survived a headshot

Yeah. For the most part, .22 caliber rounds generally only render you unconscious after a single shot to the head. A follow-up shot would've done you in, though.

Remember when one bullet killed you?

It'd just be nice to fear going to a military base again. A higher chance of me being picked off would incite that fear once again!

    Base Builder Challenge

    u guys sond smrt
  19. I want DayZ to be ten times harder than Bloodborne and DS2 combined. As a fan of brutally difficult games, I have very high hopes for DayZ - and scarcity of loot makes the game harder.

Remember when one bullet killed you?

I'm aware that the current damage model isn't final...this isn't about that. The goal of this thread is clearly stated in my original post. I'm just asking what people like more. Personally, I like a more realistic approach to combat. Other people prefer to be able to sustain more damage before they go down. I might add a poll later when I get home. Then again, I might not. I'm so mysterious.

Remember when one bullet killed you?

There would obviously be exceptions like the Plate Carrier. Its sole purpose is stopping harmful things from injuring you. However, a rain coat full of bean cans isn't going to stop a 7.62, 5.56, 5.45, .308, .357, or a .45 caliber round. I appreciate the comment, but I disagree with your sentiments of it being acceptable that a game striving to achieve authenticity lapses into the realm of "arcade". :T Capturing people is something we'll see more of when your character's life means more than it currently does. When "YOLO" is quashed, getting the drop on someone and demanding they surrender will be a much more viable way of restraining them. Certainly more so than shooting them several times with the current damage system implementation and hoping they don't die before you can bandage them. ;3

    Base "things"

I agree with your ideas. Sleeping quarters is a good idea, but I'd like to expand on the "energized" status; it'd be great if it had a "rested" sub-status that would let you sprint slightly further (~10% or so), and maybe reduce your weapon sway (nothing too drastic, again, ~10%) for an hour after logging in. As you pointed out, this buff should only be attainable after eight hours of being logged out to avoid abuse (not that the buffs would have enough of an impact to drastically affect PVP anyway - they'd just be there to give people at the end game something to work toward). I'm unsure as to why people would be against these ideas - they all make sense - and more importantly, their reasons for being critical.

Is it time for single player mode yet?

So my wife tells me... ;[
