Okay, why? WHY?!? Why do you want to see your character?! What is this blanket rebuttal made by so many people? Why is it so important for you to see your character, and why does said importance trump fair gameplay? Who gives a crap is it's an open world game? If you want to see your character, press TAB. Problem solved. I, on the other hand, would like to know that some camping baddy isn't sitting on top of a building watching my every move without ever having to risk exposing himself to attain information pertaining to his surroundings. That, to me, is FAR more "game-breaking" than people feeling the need to be able to stare at their avatar while they traverse Chernarus. What happened to DayZ supposedly being this anti-game that was going to be grueling, gritty, visceral, and extremely challenging? Now the forum is focused on whether or not they can see their fucking character. /facepalmfromhellfml

People wouldn't do anything. I mean, what can they really do? We're in a time where people have accepted downloadable content with open arms while multi-million dollar companies bend them over the edge of a table and ream them, often charging upwards of $100 for a game that wouldn't be worth more than $60 five years ago. I won't even get started on pay-to-win. I know these things aren't related to the OP, I'm merely making a point. If the public will accept essentially being robbed by people who make way more money than they do, they're not going to do anything about this. You might lose a few corner/ledge camping terribads, but who really cares? <3

Like so many other changes made thus far. Just remove 3PP already. A survival game that isn't first person has already lost its authenticity before even connecting to a server.

I'm sure it will upon release, OP. Hopefully it's better than Arma 3's SLI support, though. :T Currently, DayZ has next to no SLI support. There are a couple of custom Nvidia profiles out there like a couple of people have already linked, but they're not worth using, imo. They reduce your frame rate in cities and increase it everywhere else -- unfortunately, it's generally cities you want it increased in -- not further decreased. Nvidia released 'SLI support' in a driver around Christmas time, but it did virtually nothing. I have DayZ set to 'Single GPU' in the Nvidia Control Panel. Works much better.

I still don't know why I bought DayZ. I question myself everyday.

There's a technical support forum, FYI. That aside, mind posting some computer specs? Sounds like your video card is dying, whether or not it gets hot.

They're all pretty boring/bad. The only one I semi-regularly watch is WOBO, and that's mostly just because he releases a pretty good post-patch breakdown of any changes made.

It didn't do jack for me on my old 2600K. I was running that, 32GB of RAM, and the same video cards on a RAID 0 Vertex 3 SSD setup. It actually made DayZ take longer to load. I've never found they do anything useful. They just disable some Windows services that you could do yourself beforehand.

The final goal for most people in DayZ is to stumble upon the forums and endlessly rant about how bad it is. I wish fewer people would make it to end game.

I would rather have more accurate zombie animations pertaining specifically to attacks and have one hit that draws blood infect/kill you. I'm not a fan of being able to take dozens and dozens of hits from infected only to bandage and move on. In every zombie flick ever, if you get hit, you're fucked. Your friends then have moral dilemmas figuring out what to do with you. TL;DR: More concise zombie movements which make avoiding attacks a little more straightforward coupled with severe penalties for not managing to dodge said attacks.

I'll be excited for the day when DayZ doesn't take forever to load and shut down.

I vote that the DayZ community stops replying to these threads. They're pointless. On top of that, if the OP used the search function, he'd find multiple solutions to his "problem" within minutes. Thoughts?
