  1. They're both exploits, so the comparison has merit. I lol'd at the guy saying, "If people can do it, they'll do it!" I must admit, I often beat my wife. I can, so it's okay... right? :)
  2. Relax, you did the right thing. For a ten year old girl.
  3. I spawn with a giant shlong in every game I play. :(
  4. Why do we spawn with anything? :|

    980ti performance

I appreciate the advice, but I'm not upgrading my rig for DayZ... I'm upgrading my rig for the simple reason that I can. :)

    980ti performance

I disagree. There's no such thing as overkill in the video graphics world these days. ;)

    Internet = Fps Boost?

It's possible, sure. I can't really relate, as I've been enjoying a 150mbps connection since before the DayZ Mod was around. :)

    980ti performance

I'll let you know Wednesday; I've got two on order. If I had to guess? No difference from the 780 Tis I'm using now.

    Gun Sway Poll

I'm fine with some weapon sway, but I'd like to see more vertical sway than horizontal. I've shot since I was a kid, and I don't think any rifle I've ever used moved in a figure eight pattern -- it's vertical because of your breathing. I suppose if you were as weak as a toddler, the fatigue of merely holding the rifle may force your arms to make some odd movements, but, yeah.
  10. flim u type 2 much loll ur ok in my book ((:
  11. Wherever he is, I'm sure Vinny would approve of the replies to this thread. +1
  12. Dude, you can't omit the "none" option in the poll. But whatevs, I'll play along. The only aircraft I'd like to see in DayZ are the helicopters that are wrecked on the ground. I don't want to see the flying variety included in DayZ. At all. Your not gonna see any planes in the air a couple of weeks after an apocalyptic event. If you do, they're military, and we definitely don't need aircraft with gatling guns strapped to them. Vehicles? Sure. Bring on the diesel engine! One of the easiest to maintain and lasting engines in the last 100 years. Tires are easy to find, wheel bearings, glow plugs, diesel itself -- totally a possibility that diesel cars and trucks would be kicking around years after an event. But parts for helicopters? Airplanes? Really? And even if you had an operational airplane, why the ish would you fly it around a land infested with creatures that are attracted to loud sounds? Let alone all of the other survivors with bad intentions. I don't even mean offense, but it's a retarded idea. If development gotta ahead with anything besides the absolute most basic helicopter on the planet, then I'll lose all faith in their original goal of creating a "realistic/authentic" post-apocalyptic survival game. If you want the mod with better graphics, I'd like to say this isn't the game for you. But it seems that's all people want lately. EDIT: google keyboard ftw. not even fixing my typos. #badassoverhere

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

EDIT: yay for phone auto correct typos! No, my issue is still that it's not realistic while trying so hard to be realistic, ironically. It's already so easy to kill people in DayZ, the right click zoom just makes it easier. I generally don't die, like, ever. I've had 1500 hours invested into DayZ since October -- I've logged maybe 100 since then -- so I'm obviously comfortable with it. I played lots of Arma and DayZ mod too -- but if given am opportunity to get rid of it, I would. It's always something that's bugged me. This game is built on am engine that was designed to simulate combat scenarios, yes, but it was designed for VIRTUAL REALITY. Not a computer monitor. It's always felt like it's trying too hard to BE realistic, when it just makes things feel janky. Nothing is ever going to be 1:1 with the human eye, ffs. Just let it go, guys. It seems to be going anyway, so I'm not sure why I'm wasting my energy typing. Peace and love, sexy kids.

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

You'll know because it's a video game played on a ~19-32" monitor and you'll learn from experience what your ranges are in this make believe world of Chernarus. Complaining about needing scaled fields of view is pretty silly. "But Arma 2, 3, and DayZ mod had it!" Yeah. And it was stupid then, too. It might be "closer to realistic" than not having it, and that's fine. If wasn't so janky and clunky it wouldn't be so bad, but, yeah, it is.
  15. Who said there's 100% going to be aircraft, anyway? I don't follow development like I used to. Also, I'd say it's more than 30% of the population that don't want to see it. It's stupid, plain and simple. "Oh shit, Ralph. Zombie Apocalypse. What do we do first?" "Gather food. Secure a camp. Build defenses." "Okay, good idea. After we have all of the basics, what should we focus on? Surviving in this harsh new world? Finding like-minded survivors and trying to establish some semblance of order? Perhaps just avoid others altogether, keeping to ourselves and waiting for the worst to pass?" "No... We're going to find, repair, and fly around in a helicopter." "Hey, that's a great ide- wait, what?! I don't know how to fly a helicopter! Do you?" "Nope." "Well how's that going to work?" "We'll find like, a manual, or something." "..."
  16. Je suis français aussi..ne lui faites pas l'esprit! In other news, I'd like to think Vinny is scheming up a way to get back to me so we can continue our adventure. He's such a brave boy, and I believe he's key in curing the world...

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

Everyone has different tastes, but I think your assessment is pretty ignorant. I win 99% of the PvP encounters I experience in DayZ, even against squads, by myself. I might go 3:1 in Battlefield on a decent server on a good day. Much more challenging. The mod barely qualified as a survival simulation. And as far as brain activity is concerned, I'd bet my house that there's far more brain activity going on while playing Battlefield and making constant split second decisions for the entirety of the time you play, as opposed to DayZ where you blunder around for hours without encountering anyone. Then when you finally do, you either attempt a conversation, get shot at, or shoot the other person. This game ain't exactly hard, let's face it. I love it, but I'm not going to blatantly lie for it, ha. I also don't follow your logic pertaining to DayZ and its "depth". Of what dost thou speaketh?

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

What's wrong with Battlefield? Very fun game, much more challenging online than DayZ/Arma. I'm confused.

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

I get it. It's just a clunky, unnecessary feature that has no other purpose than trying to give virtual reality simulation to a random guy sitting at home on a 19" monitor. It doesn't work. It's ugly. It's basically a jimmy-rigged way of trying to accomplish something that isn't possible without thousands of dollars worth of hardware. My suggestion is that we keep it simple, make it prettier, and move on? So many other games do it. Why does DayZ have to be the game that doesn't? Then, these same people argue that we keep 3PP -- mind, these are the same people crying realism in every other thread. Can't have it both ways.

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

You can try to justify it all you want. First of all, why do you feel that things need to be to scale? It's a video game. Nothing will ever be to scale. The entire right click zoom feature is a crutch. You can spot people just fine without it. Things don't need to be bigger than they are in your default field of vision unless you acquire a scope or binoculars. You want to simulate the human eye on a screen? Okay. Make things you're not currently focused on blurry. Make things you are currently focused on sharper. This game will never replicate proper field of view/depth of view until you're hooked up to a virtual reality simulator WHICH THIS ENGINE WAS DESIGNED AROUND, right? When they stopped using RV, they tried, and succeeded, selling it to the public. I'm sure somewhere along the way features were removed and added in order to make games playable on a desktop computer. This stupid zoom feature is one of those things. It literally makes zero sense.

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

Our ability to spot movement while unzoomed is perfectly fine. Speaking for myself, I can spot movement half a kilometer away without having to zoom in. That's how it is in real life, too. If I zoom in, I'm then able to potentially tell you how well geared that person is... at 500 meters! Completely ridiculous. I can make shots in DayZ using iron sights that I can't make in Battlefield in nearly identical situations. Doesn't make sense. The zoom feature is nearly as powerful as the PU scope. Also completely ridiculous. There's literally no reason to have this "feature" in-game, as the developers seem to be realizing. They're slowly phasing it out, which is good.

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

Be that as it may, the zoom function didn't make sense at all. Never did. AA is, whether you like it or not, how you achieve depth of field on a screen. Not by magically giving the player a free scope when they right click.

    Vision nerfed yet again?!

GTA5 on PS4/XB1/PC does it quite well, albeit automatically -- there's no button to press to initiate it. And I really have to disagree with Pilgrim and Gews (why do I always feel racist when I read his name? Soft or hard 'G'?) here. Zooming in as a concept to "focus" is a terribly flawed mechanic. It even goes against the very definition of the word. Battlefield 4 maps, although not nearly as large as Chernarus don't have a zoom button, and for all intents and purposes, someone 300 meters out in that game is just as tiny as someone an equal distance out in DayZ. If you only have a 1X RDS/iron sights, you're probably not going to hit him. You need a scope of some sort, right? I still don't get why this is such an issue. Arma added a lot of silly mechanics back in its heyday, and unfortunately several of them have stuck, and to the point of it causing an uproar over a mechanic that didn't make sense in the first place.
