  1. Greetings! So, I have an issue with the upcoming persistent player storage function. It is going to promote douchebaggery galore unless characters are specifically locked to servers. Go to a new server, get a new character for that server. Otherwise you're just going to have KoS CoD Kiddies and TONS of bandits server hopping every time a server resets (they keep tabs... most of us do) just to go loot guns/ammo/clips, go back to the server they're trolling on, stockpile like mad and then just kill without consequences... even if they get killed themselves. They will have so much firepower that the entire concept of the game will just go out the window. So, Devs, here's a thought. LOCK CHARACTERS TO SERVERS! If you don't, this issue will spiral out of control, I assure you. And I'm fairly certain that every person who votes against this concept is either a KoS CoD Kiddie or a Bandit and they don't want their upcoming advantage to vanish. As a person and player who believes in fair play, this option is the only way to prevent this kind of nonsense. ~Baklavah

Ok... I would like to know what exactly is meant by "New Events: Vehicles Spawns". Does that mean DRVEABLE vehicles? Or vehicles that spawn with LOOT in them... define this please...
  3. Of course it's been shot down many times... By the very people who don't want their advantage of obscene amounts of firepower to disappear. If that's the case, then they need to release dedicated server support. Because that will be the only way to prevent this kind of ridiculous loot hoarding that will just piss everyone off.
  4. Hello everyone. Been a while since I've posted... I've been waiting for the update that is apparently still under development. Anywho. I have a few ideas that just came to me... so I'm going to throw those out there! Weapon condition. Doesn't really degrade all that fast. Makes repair kits worthless in my opinion. Needs to degrade MUCH faster, but at a fair rate dependant on the weapon. Sniper rifles are powerful, firing huge-caliber rounds. They need to degrade fast. This would also discourage those who sit atop a hill with 200 rounds of mosin ammo from sniping for an entire day. I realize you're bored, but you shouldn't get rewarded for it. Semi-automatic rifles are fairly powerful depending on the caliber. Larger calibers should degrade their respective weapons faster than others. Automatic rifles, like the M4 or AK, should degrade fast when the trigger is just held down. Firing in 3-round bursts would help mitigate that degradation rate and punish those with trigger-happy thoughts. Shotguns, also powerful, would also have to degrade relatively quickly. Pistols, would also degrade at a speed dependant on their calibers. .22LRs should degrade their weapons much slower than weapons firing much larger calibers. Now that I've made that point abundantly clear... weapon condition would be incomplete without that real-life effect we all know and love/hate! Weapon Jamming! I was thinking it would work in a staged system. Stage 1, weapon is in "excellent/good" condition and has no chance of jamming whatsoever. Stage 2, weapon is in "damaged" condition and has a 25% chance of jamming per shot. Stage 3, weapon is in "bad" condition and has a 50% chance of jamming per shot. Stage 4, weapon is in "badly damaged" condition and has a 75% chance of jamming per shot. Stage 5, weapon is "ruined" and can no longer fire. I realize this means they'd have to add in a 6th condition (being "bad"), but it would make things far more interesting. That said... next topic. Weapon Repair Kits. If weapon jamming were to be implemented, the abundant amount of WRKs would need to be thinned out, meaning their spawns should be cut by about 3/4s. This would do 3 things. 1) People would scramble to keep their weapons in good condition (forcing them out of their comfort zones). 2) Campers and KoS CoD kiddies would be forced to make loot runs for WRKs potentially getting their dumb asses killed (everyone who's ever suffered deaths at the hands of these morons will agree with me). And finally... 3) The value of weapons would skyrocket and everyone will find an excuse NOT to shoot for absolutely no reason. Next up, Ammo Spawns. I'm all for loose ammo being all over the place. However, not in full stacks. 1-5 rounds in a stack where ammo should spawn is fine by me. Full "ammunition packages" should have their spawns reduced. Clips and speed loaders should be spawning EMPTY with a 5% chance to spawn with a random amount of ammunition in them. This would represent "Zombie Apocalypse" more accurately. Besides, what military base leaves FULL ammunition in every single clip on a base during a state of emergency? None. And finally, the topic I've been saving for last. Ammo Bandoliers. Unfortunately, vests cover a lot of area and putting ammo in them is silly considering you get shot a couple of times and if you survive everything in your vest is completely @#$%ed. Same with pants and jackets. An ammo bandolier covers much less area, like the chest holster, making them ideal for carrying your ammunition without much risk of them getting hit. This would work especially well if they were programmed not as a "layer" but rather as an item with a specific area of coverage consistent with its design. It's a possible thing to program, don't even say it isn't. We're not in the early 90s anymore. Each "pocket" would be able to house an individual clip, speed loader or grenade (which I'm sure they'll add in one day). Things it would NOT be able to hold include food, loose ammo (lookin at you Mosin Users), drinks, canteens, flashlights, batteries, can openers, sticks, meds of any kind, bandages, etc etc. Only clips, speed loaders and/or grenades. Well then, I've said my rather large piece. I'd like to hear your opinions everyone! Well, except the incoming negative opinions of everyone who thinks the disadvantages I've listed are too unfair and prevent them from KoSing all day every day. Those people can go play in traffic. :)
  5. Hey everyone! So, I know this is going to piss off all of the server hoppers (trust me it's how my group gets loot too...) but it makes more sense to have characters LOCKED to servers once loot respawn is in effect. First of all, it'll stop server hopping. 2nd, less ammunition, meds, guns, etc etc will be floating around. 3rd, once base-building and vehicles are implemented, it will give players a reason to stick to a server. And last but not least, it'll become necessary to identify the bandits and heroes on the server in order to maintain player relations. The reasoning here is that the servers' communities will have to rely on knowing who's who so as to avoid unnecessary conflicts. It makes a ton of sense to me, what do you guys think? (Proper critique only please... I don't need any "you're fucking stupid that's so dumb" type of responses. Keep that kind of nonsense to yourselves) ~Baklavah

Survival as an End-Goal (Lowering KoS too)

My apologies if I sounded snappy and harbouring resentment... I had just finished participating in an argument with stupid people who do not understand the meaning of "player interaction". I understand where you're coming from. The problem is that while some people are taking on the role of a "survivor", others are taking on the role of a "Psychotic Pseudo-Nazi with a sniper rifle, an itchy trigger finger and boredom". That takes away the ENTIRE point of the game. There are already plenty of horrors. Zombies are no longer the pushovers that they were. The fact that fresh spawns are being killed when they have nothing of value proves no point except that the KoS CoD Kiddies are cowards, and killing someone and then just letting their gear despawn is not only stupid and arrogant, it's disrespectful. Again, my apologies for the aggression... I'm just tired of all the stupidity...

Survival as an End-Goal (Lowering KoS too)

Your argument is not entirely valid. I'm pretty sure in a REAL survival situation people aren't just going to shoot at the first person that moves. Most certainly guns will be drawn, and most certainly there will be some way to ascertain whether or not someone is friendly. Some people who have what we normal people call "a soul" will provide shelter for a night, especially for groups with children. I'm pretty fucking certain no one's going to shoot a child on sight because that's what they'd do in DayZ. That is a retarded argument. There is no warrant for KoS, it just proves who the closet-psychopaths are. Fine by me. Bandits are to be expected, but there's a limit to being an asshole. Not everyone is a soulless murderer.
  8. Xant and Nex... you have a very.... skewed version of "carebears" in your heads. I am not in fact, a carebear. I actually have a squad, and use "tactics" (a term you may not be familiar with, so allow me to enlighten you) to navigate, survive and gather resources... Sitting on top of a hill, sniping fresh spawns does not constitute as a "tactic". It is in fact a pathetic way to show that you think you're a tough guy, incapable of dealing with player interaction and/or a level playing field. Pretty sure if my counter-sniper leveled a mosin at your head and killed you, and then proceeded to hunt you on the coast, killing you for hours... you wouldn't enjoy that so much would you? Of course not. Why? Because he'd be impeding your gaming experience. Don't want to talk to other survivors in a friendly fashion? That's perfectly fine. Grow a pair and bandit like a man then. This game has guns, yes. This game provides the opportunity to kill other players, yes. However, what exactly is the point you're trying to make when you kill a fresh spawn, or kill someone and then don't even bother with any of their gear and just let it despawn? Far as I can tell, you have no point. You're just looking for attention. Congratulations. You've gained attention on the forums. Do you want a cookie? I won't be posting on this thread again, as arguing with people who spout nonsense just breeds more nonsense. "Hurray" you may think to yourselves "we won the argument!" However, you've won nothing. All you've succeeded in doing is proving how ignorant and tactless you both are. Others like you fall under the same category. And you refer to "KoS CoD Kiddies" as name calling? Far from it. That is the universal category under which people like you fall. It isn't a name-calling attempt in the least. It's a label. And if you're so proud of your "playstyle", then why do you care? You clearly think you're better than the rest of us. Anyway, I'm done with words. Words won't reach you, as was made apparent by your ridiculous responses. May a hero's bullet find you, and may he/she hunt you until you ragequit.
  9. Xant and NexVentor... you call us inept, yet you're the ones who are acting like lunatics in a game to satisfy your own egos. Far as I can tell, Natural Selection missed you guys. Humanity's downward spiral will have people like you at its core. Acting like tough guys through a screen is all well and good, but what are you going to do when you actively piss someone off who's got some extreme mental issues and decides to hunt you down? It's not impossible to think of, considering some of the sick things that have happened in the world. The reason I call you KoS CoD Kiddies out isn't mainly out of anger... it's more out of frustration and the fact that you people lack tact. Use your heads a little will you? If you want to mindlessly shoot guns at people so that you can feel tough, go play CoD or Titanfall. Leave us out of it.

It seems to be the mass mentality here that if someone doesn't like an idea, they get angry at it. wtf is wrong with people? Are they regressing?

They were ideas you nimrod. Who shit in your cornflakes this morning?
  12. See... that's what I mean. Morons like you derive pleasure from ruining someone else's time playing the game. Why did you bother paying 30$ for a game just to piss people off? What point are you trying to make? "Oh look at me I'm an internet tough guy! I'll slaughter everyone all day long because it makes me giggle." What are you, an inbred southerner? Grow the fuck up already. Jesus.

Bout time something gets added like that. Hopefully the stupid KoS CoD Kiddies will waste their ammo on Wildlife more often than not and leave us alone from time to time. They frustrate the hell out of me... pay 30$ for a game just to piss people off and then try to defend their stupidity by calling it a "playstyle". Are you kidding me? How the hell does "slaughtering everything that moves indiscriminately" (including fresh spawns who have NOTHING of value) even constitute as surviving?! That isn't what survival games are about! Anywho, pardon the venting. I'm just hoping that the wildlife will attract their attention more than we do. Getting tired of their bullshit.

Could also have random nudie mags littered all over Chernarus+ as.. I unno... Collectibles? It'd be like a TCG with no game. Just collect till you've got em all to say you did! Or even better... a hidden safe with 10 locks, and 10 keys scattered across Chernarus+. Once collected (and the Safe has been found), the keys can open the safe to reveal........ SOMETHING OF WORTH! I unno... a Night Vision Scope for an M4 (for when night's darkness finally gets fixed), or a Thermal Scope for the Mosin (limiting the range of sight a bit because that's how Thermal works), or even a SWAT outfit that protects the wearer and makes all rounds do less damage to that person (until they're ruined of course)! SOMETHING! XD With the safe and keys spawning in new locations after the next server restart once the safe has been looted!

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

I love how some people are arguing that it isn't needed because it'll cause laziness (yes Devs, I do listen) or that it rewards laziness... yet you reward other laziness... like... oh say... the KoS CoD Kiddies who sit on a sniper spot for 6 hours and kill everyone they say from 600+ meters away! And before you nimrods that do this day in and day out say that there's no reward involved, you can kiss the dark side of my butt-cheeks. Your reward is the satisfaction of ruining other peoples' days and gameplay experience because you're bored. People like you are irritating, pathetic and a thorn in the community's side. Sniping a target because they may have medical supplies or ammo that you desperately need? Ok. Fine. That's perfectly ok. But sniping people and then leaving the loot there to disappear? WTF? Really? Talk about stupid. Sniping people who have JUST SPAWNED and have literally nothing of value? Also pathetic and a waste of ammo. Ya'll can rage at me if you want, my points are still valid and KoS CoD Kiddies are even lazier than an auto-run button.

Weapon condition, ammo spawns and bandoliers

The suggestions still stand :P they're good ideas.
  17. That's a lot of negativity. You must be a KoS CoD Kiddie. The reason it's the most common playstyle is because idiots who don't know how to do anything else are the only ones who do it. AKA KoS CoD Kiddies. If you're so bored that there's nothing else to do but piss off the entire community for days at a time, odds are CoD is more your speed. Go annoy your own people. Personally, I expect a little bit of KoS here and there. But not for hours and hours and hours at a time with no repercussions. The survivors are being punished while the jerkoffs sit on their perches and get rewarded with the satisfaction that they've just completely pissed off 20+ people? Seriously? That's why you morons pay 30$ for a game? I'm sorry, what? This is called a SURVIVAL game. Not @#$%ing Call of Douchebags or Battlefield! Killing every single person you see on sight adds nothing to the game! In fact you people ruin the game for others. There's... what 3 servers I used to play on? They went dead for like 3 weeks because this one group of assholes set up on sniper points overlooking every airfield and major coastal town and killed everyone who logged on to play for 3 days straight. Eventually 2 or 3 people came back every once in a while (myself included) when we saw that 0 people were on. But the servers were empty for THREE WEEKS because of you asshats. I can only imagine how irritated the server renters were. You wasted their money for a month. If it was your own server, fine. Do what you want, it's your money. But when no one logs on and your server is empty for weeks/months you'll get pissed off that you're wasting money because you forced everyone off your server. Think a little bit about the servers before you guys start indiscriminately slaughtering the population. That's exactly why Rust servers started going dead. Don't cause that shit here. It's pathetic and unwarranted.

Missions and meaning in the game

I'm all for things like repairing power stations to bring light to a town, power fridges for food storage and power vending machines for bottles of water, cans of soda or food. I'm even all for random NPC events like a small group (1-3) of survivors requiring a an escort to an area in exchange for food/water/ammo/meds (with their bodies working like a player's, where doing tons of damage to them will destroy what they're carrying so trigger-happy bandits can't just take free stuff for not doing any work. I'm lookin at you KoS CoD kiddies) or a lone survivor who's wounded and has been infected and has a hidden stash that you can have for putting him out of his misery. Hell, I'm even all for crazy things like weapon jamming when your weapon is in disrepair (speaking of which, firing seriously needs to degrade weapons a LOT more than it does now... Weapon Repair Kits have no use otherwise). One thing I'd really like to see is a trap system (one day...) where one can do things like rig a doorway with a tripwire attached to a shotgun at head-level across the room, allowing to "fortify" a house and defend it from dirty bandits and the like. Sadly, all of these ideas are moot until the devs are finished dealing with more important things... Like Zombie Pathing (finally they're getting around to that... we've only asked about 10000 times a month) or a loot respawn system (btw... that Quadrant idea they're going with... totally worthless when there's more than 10 people on a server... no quadrants will ever be empty with that many people on... it needs to be a timed system per structure type... like 3 hours for weapon spawns, 2 for medical, 1 for civilian [clothes/food/drink/etc], 4 hours for military spawns [airfields and tents]... stuff like that) or the fact that military tents and deer stands don't spawn ANY LOOT at all. Just sayin guys... *HINT HINT*!
  19. Far as I'm concerned this shouldn't be an issue... You have to ready a weapon to fire with it right? The same should apply to melee weapons. This will allow people to tell who's being hostile and who isn't. I'm perfectly fine with people being forced to "ready" a melee weapon. Weeds out the douchebags really quick.

    breaking legs to grief

Well, gannon46, at least you sound like a decent bandit. The other bandits should learn from your example. I'm getting sick of their bullshit too. I've been robbed, KoSed, KoSed to be robbed, tortured and force fed things that poison you... and I'm quite tired of it. Bandits used to be rather honourable, but now they're just a bunch of douchebags who get their jollies from pissing people off and forcing the community to dwindle because they think it makes them tough. Of course, I'm generalizing. If I were to rob someone, I take what I need, rather than everything they've got. And that I rob anyone is exceedingly rare. Usually I just track groups with my squad and we see what happens... if they KoS a bunch of bambis we smoke em. I have zero tolerance for that kind of crap. Fresh spawns have nothing of value, and hence are not worth KoSing. That bandits even do that sickens me, and I make it my job to put those douchebags down without a second thought. I don't think I'd mind getting robbed by you though, gannon46. At least you'd let me go. But to KoS CoD Kiddie bandits, if you're in my scope, I will kill you without hesitation. Mark my words.
  21. The reason I posted it is because I saw this in the steam changelog. It's listed as "known issue" so... I don't care if it never gets fixed. lol I want to be able to see who's trying to kill me in melee. Known Issues: Physics: Item throwing physics is currently disabled Melee: Cannot conduct melee attack from "lowered" melee stance (press space to chance stance to "raised")
  22. Hiya! So, I noticed that the weapon spawns were lowered, and that the bag spawns have been lowered, to which I thought "Ok cool, now survival is REALLY becoming survival!" and then everywhere I go, there are bored KoS CoD kiddies who have nothing better to do than ruin the experience of trying to survive (Before anyone gets 'mad' and starts saying 'expect bandits', I already expect banditry. There's banditry, and then there's being a massive douchebag banditry. No one likes the latter). I'm glad that the next patch will be making their efforts moot, making things that get ruined be completely useless, but I have a feeling that will not stop them much. As such, I have a suggestion to tailor this game to its survivalist genre. Even though gun spawns have been considerably lowered, the ammunition available across Chernarus+ has not been set to the same standards. Find a gun, find tons of ammo that will overflow out of that ammo box, and then (if you're a KoS CoD kiddie) run around slaughtering people indiscriminately because it makes you feel empowered. Those who choose to run around assisting fresh spawns and the like I find are much more agreeable. The reason I call these people KoS CoD kiddies, is because this is the behaviour I expect from 15 year old brats, not grown men who should have a sense of maturity. Granted, some of these players may be 15 years old and have a mature attitude toward DayZ. To you, I tip my hat. To the rest, get a hobby. Anyway, my aim here isn't to rant, it's to suggest that ammo be made scarcer. It'll deter the KoS nimrods a bit, and it will make the feeling of survival that much more relevant. Hard to defend yourself when you haven't got any ammo for that Mosin/M4/SKS/Shotgun/SawedOff/45/Magnum, isn't it? Pardon my rant, I've had a long day, and those "people" have been making it hell. I hope the suggestion is considered! And thanks for bringing DayZ to the world. Love it. Play it all the time. ~Bak
  23. *sigh* so narrow-minded. You just don't get it, do you? I've stated this MANY times, but clearly you only read what you want to read. I don't have a problem with killing in the game. I expect to be killed in firefights over resources. I expect to get held up and have my bag pillaged so that a group might have enough food/water/meds to keep their survivors going. I expect to get killed because of the backpack I have. And I don't care, because that's an expected part of the game. What I have an issue with, is stupid KoS CoD Kiddies like you, who have an arrogant attitude, think they're better than everyone else, and have the balls to play a survival game with the sole intention of ruining the game for others. You paid 30$ for a game so that you could go around pissing everyone off? Seriously? That's sad, pathetic and just plain stupid. You're a troll. No one likes trolls. Hell, half the time trolls don't even like themselves. And odds are that's why the act the way they act. So yeah. I have a problem with people like you. Your kind spits on those who get a game to enjoy the experiences that they have to offer. Survival games aren't meant for your type. That is VERY plain to see. Sadly, there's no reasoning with people like you. You think you're in the right. Whatever floats your boat. Your delusions are your own. We're not in the short story "The Most Dangerous Game". You might like to think you're cool. Truth is you're just an annoying, attention seeking, self-centred jerk. Thanks for making people like me thankful we didn't grow up to be like you.
  24. Also... scuse me while I just point this out. Killing us with your bad shooting ruins the "gear" you might try to collect. Also, "You would devote all your in game time to kill me"? Thanks for letting us know that you're a closet psychopath. Go see a shrink. I hear they have things to say to you people.
