honest opinons about what they could do to fix zombies.. Simple thread asking what you think Dayz zombies could use in the way of "fixes". My main issues with zombies! 1. their hit rate, its insanely too high, as a fresh spawn i almost bleed completely out trying to kill a zombie with any of the melee weapons. 2. their hit points (I.E. Health) with guns its not a problem.. but almost all of the melee weapons (axe excluded) its almost impossible to kill them without losing most of your blood!. 3. following distance.. sometimes i have to completely run out of the city/field im in just to get them to stop chasing me. feel free to add to the list, im sure i can think of more issues i see but just curious as to what some of you other dayz people see wrong with them

Get over yourself... its fucking simple.. play the way you want to play and avoid player interactions if you dont like the way you are treated.. grow up and realize that everything done in game.. is a part of a play style... if you dont like the way others play just avoid them and play all by yourself.. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!! have a good day, dont let them nice people kill you with kindness, you will definately be the first.... such a pathetic way to qq on a forum lmao

very true, but not all of us have hours upon hours to devote solely to running.... i work 12 hours a day.. get anywhere from 1-2 hours a day to play... taking 15-20 minutes just to get anywhere to start looting.. kind of bogs down alot of the time i DO have to play.. try writing something more constructive next time. maybe take into account that some of us wish we could play more, but are constricted by time management.. i completely agree with this post, even if you have all the time in the world to play. IT TAKES FOREVER TO GET ANYWHERE!

Hello! i recently started playing Dayz, i have no previous experience, (have not played the mod, or any arma game in general) Id really love to experience the game the way most people do, i find myself looting too many houses, staying out in the open, and every time i come across anyone, i usually end up dead.. too many reasons to list. so with that said id love to team up and play with a few other people.. im 70 hours in and i still havent found a mosin, or a shotgun. plenty of FNX's.. id also love if a few people showed me their tricks to finding these weapons, and also to kind of show me the ropes. as of now i basically just follow the main roads.. (off to the side of course) and i see fresh spawns.. which isnt rare, but once i get into cherno or electro anyone i see just mercilessly.. well the only way i can say it is RAPES ME! i need to begin to learn how to navigate through cities without attracting too much attention, and i would love to become a hero! but it seems like at this point 99% of people are bandits.. that have no intention on making new friends or helping people out, which isnt their fault, if i was on their end i would probably be having more fun than i am now.. so basically all i need to fulfill the most enjoyment i can out of the game, is a couple of experienced friends to teach me the basics.. or at least how to find weapons to defend myself, i got the food/water/blood/health thing down, now i need to just learn how to approach towns, people and how to just survive when shit hits the fan if anyone is willing i will definately take any opprotunity i can! this "offer" is open to anyone, not just experienced players, im just not finding it very enjoyable running around by myself, its fun, but it only goes so far!

i love how everyone says its so "easy" to find weapons... im 70 hours in and i still havent found a damn shotgun or a mosin.. yet everyone else i see is either shooting me with them or holding me up for the ammo i found.. for some im sure it is easy.. but i have yet to see a mosin or shotgun spawn.. ive been up and down the southern coast MULTIPLE times checking the airfield, fire stations, almost every house/building in between.. ive watched countless youtube videos of spawns.. no luck.. came to the forums countless times, see plenty of screenshots.. yet still no luck.. i for one think they need to spread out spawns, make it equal for everyone not just the server hoppers, id like to try to play this game from the bare bones, authentic survival outlook.. but its impossible if you cant even defend yourself from fully geared teams of 5-10 people that kill you just to get a couple bullets or pipsi's.. cant wait until this game has a decent friendly server.. thats the only way some will even be able to get off of the damn beach...

there is just so many other things in my mind that i cant think out the right way to explain why i believe we should have a map... i just hope that for some of us they add a preference..or at least incorporate a map into a beginner category. a lot of players have an advantage over new players, and its hard to be thrown into a game where the veterans are mostly bandits, that know where everything is, and the beginners are mostly genuinely just trying to figure it out and get slaughtered and never find out where the hell they are going! lol

i honestly agree with this, but i think that they started off on the wrong foot by not even explaining to anyone what happened, or how we got where we are.., like i said we spawn on a beach, that makes me think we were shipwrecked and therefor it is FULLY understandable that we dont know where we are. on the other hand, if we were from that "island/country" why in the world would we NOT know where we are at! (hence the map suggestion)

Okay, just need to clarify... i left this out before, i have recieved in game maps.. and from what i have seen on the forums, most people rarely use them or hate them in general. but most of them are found in cars.. which are nowhere near the spot you spawn at.. therefor you have no idea where you are going for some time... unless you have the help of a full map on the internet, saves time, saves hassle. especially if you fall to bandits over and over again, just to lose all of your gear and map pieces, just to be lost and without anything again. i just want to know thoughts on if we need a HUD like map, or just a full map in general, that has nothing to do with the shape its in, or if it even has anything on it other than just where cities are, i would love to just see a map, that shows terrain and cities, no tips on where to find certain things, just a map that lets you find (once) populated areas, where people may have left things behind, its all up to you to find the stuff..

First of all.. let me start off by saying this is just a topic that i felt i needed to learn more about. im a brand new player to this game!, and i love it so far. i didnt play the mod unfortunately, but i believe that this game is all about realism and survival. i love what the stand alone has so far, and believe me i understand there is definitely more to come, but in my perspective, the Map and russian setting alone are just confusing, (please understand that it is just my opinion the last thing i want to do is see people rage about a suggestion or opinion..) let me explain what i mean.. > in Dayz, players are thrust out into a world that is meant to be confusing, some sort of apocalyptic scenario just played out, and its time to survive.., but in the standalone, without a map, some/most players are forced to use a player made map online.. and some people say it is "cheating" or "unrealistic" or just "noobish".. what are your thoughts? >cities are very hard to even pronounce for most people i play with, which only adds to the confusion for most people.. when trying to find friends i sometimes get lost because some of the names are so similar.. i know that it takes time to get used to the map, but with such a huge playground.. it would take weeks if not months to fully know the map by heart, making it almost seem like you HAVE to be a diehard Dayz veteran to know exactly where you can go to find certain things. again what are your thoughts? >Reasons that i believe we should have a map. 1.we spawn on a beach (most of the time) that leads me to believe that we were shipwrecked.. and its understandable knowing that we arrived on an island we knew nothing about, why we wouldnt have a map! 2.if the shipwrecked idea didnt work.. that means we were definately FROM the land we all roam around. therefor why wouldnt we have any idea where we are! 3.maybe we all went crazy when the apocalypse happened.. and thats why we cant explain where we are or even what the basis of the game is.. who knows all we know how to do is survive.. so yesterday, (very noob move on my part) i learned how to sprint!! only to realize it must (i think) be broken. i was running from elektro to cherno. and every time i began to sprint it worked great, id get about a mile or two up the road and then i would be transported back to where i began running. it was a little upsetting!, but i figured everything was okay and tried to continue on. only to realize that NOTHING would work, i couldnt move at all, i couldnt open my menu by hitting escape, but i noticed other people running by me.. like i was just stuck standing there? who knows if they seen me... every time it happened i had to alt+f4, restart the game and everything would be okay, yet once i started sprinting again the same thing happened!!!! (15 times in a row before i gave up, it sucked to realize i didnt know about sprinting until then, only to find out that me "jogging" was a HUGE WASTE OF TIME!!!) before anyone rages about me posting this question here, i AM NEW! and i have thoroughly searched these forums and google for an answer, i am only hoping to get an answer on if this is a bug, or if there is any self fixes or things i can do to cut down on it transporting me back to where i began sprinting, thank you in advanced for any helpful answers, this is the only major problem i have encountered and its eating the hell out of my brain.. just cant figure it out!

im 3 days in and i love it already!!! im not sure, but i didnt notice a fix to the sprint? every time i try to sprint i get shoved back to where i started sprinting.. and once that happens i can no longer do ANYTHING! was wondering if you guys were working on it? it REALLY sucks not having vehicles but it sucks even more not being able to at least run!!

thank you all! much appreciated. and i do use the map :( i know its cheating but after i spent and hour walking in the same direction and didnt hit a border i was blown away.. at the size of the map (never played any of the arma games) i have a couple more questions if you wouldnt mind answering them, 1. the terminology of the server names.. ive found one that i enjoy VERY much its no pvp <thats the easy one i understand what pvp means but some say NO KOS (which i think means no "kill on sight"? others state other things if you can fill in for me as im drawing blanks atm.. lol 2. i have heard that they will be patching spawn hopping servers soon..ish, so i was wondering if there were any other useful methods of obtaining guns, other than killing yourself and losing all of your gear and or spawn hopping for gear? 3. is it best to look for a server listed as close to your actual state? in a few servers i find myself not being able to play for too long before being disconnected , not sure if it helps to join servers listing a location near you? thanks again i wasnt expecting such quick and awesome help. i love the links! (and i laughed very hard when i noticed i could give you my beans!!! haha)

okay, so to start off, im finding it very troubling to get to guns.. its probably my fault, which im sure alot of you will point out. but it seems to me like there are very little guns around.. with over 40 hours played its taken me A LOT of mindless roaming around to find my first m4, still havent seen a mosin or a shotgun.. plenty of ammo though!(ive also watched countless videos on youtube just to get an idea of where to go..) which brings me to my second question. will it get any easier to navigate around the map? luckily i have one other friend that plays, but when we play at different times or alone, we both find it VERY hard to find eachother. i know that there are map sections that you can find.. but that honestly doesnt help. unless im missing a key factor in knowing how to use the darn thing. ive asked around for quite awhile and i cant seem to figure this one out.. my screen has been grey for awhile now, but i play so cautiously! i havent been injured or ran out of food or water.. and i cant figure out why its grey.. im completely at a loss on trying to figure this out, maybe its just a bug? idk.. if anyone would be kind enough to give me a few tips on these issues im having it would be greatly appreciated, im also looking for friends to take me under their wing! my steam name is drgreenz420 feel free to add me, ill take any advice i can get, hopefully this didnt sound like a rant to anyone im honestly just trying to learn the ropes.. youtube videos only help so much.. an actual explanation in game would be 100% better than "trying" to figure it out on my own, i do understand this is in alpha.. but im brand new and maybe im just having these issues due to bugs or glitches. thank you in advanced for any explanation given!.
