sorry mate I feel for you I really do, i've been having a similar experience myself this evening. However this is an alpha build and you;ve got to expect severe problems from time to time. yeah, the master server is basically being flooded with way more connections than it was designed for so respawning for something as trivial as position is definitely frowned upon.

There is that, I'll address B) first: You have to bear one thing in mind, this is an alpha build thats still undergoing development to the basic game mechanics. its going to be wobbly and janky, and the difficulty is going to wax and wane from too hard to too easy between patches as they test out new development ideas. Thats just what you accept when you play a game thats in alpha. Now for A): Yes, this game has a steep learning curve, but the problem at the moment is that experienced players are finding it too easy, and new players are finding it impossible. An experienced player can get all they loot they need to survive indefinitely in a few hours, and thats not much fun, there is no challenge, so changes have been made to make the game more of a challenge. unfortunately that has made it impenetrable for new players, but then see my paragraph above about your point A), That said, there will probably be another patch tomorrow and all of this will change again.... the joys of alpha ;-)

Yeah I had the same problem. I put on the Ghillie suit an my debug stats zeroed, which I didn't care about but I did notice it, next server I logged onto however my stats were back. -

@OP hear hear! Trouble is there is a flood of newcomers to dayz due to its explosive popularity spike, and many of them are coming from games like BF3. THis is a massive culture shock for them and on top of that they are presented with a buggy glitch alpha. I'm not surprised that they are angry and making suggestions that go against the game's ethos, and i'm also not surprised that dayz veterans react with scorn and indignation. Its a shame but i dont think there is much we can so about it for now other than try to weather the storm. -

I think zombies seeing prone players is being addressed in the hotfix, rocket says hes reversing a nerf to prone anyway. -
well 1.7.1 is practically unplayable at the moment with all the performance issues etc, so to be I reserve judgement for when the 1.7.1.1 hotfix is out probably tomorrow. as for your suggestion I'm not sure that starting with a crossbow is so great, after all a crossbow is probably rarer than an actual gun, so to have dozens of new players running around with them seems a bit out of kilter. Also you didn't put a bandage in there... thats going to be a quick death. I do agree though that it wouldn't hurt to have a bit more starting kit, how about this: My Suggestion: Makarov 1 Magazine 1 Painkiller 1 Bandage 1 Soda 1 flashlight Czech Vest Pouch

yeah its really just a case of knowing where you both are (you're told when you spawn) and picking a middle landmark to meet up at. then sprint like you OD'd on amphetamine and epinephrine.

Vent is a bit shitty to be honest, TS3 is better and mumble better still. -
I can see that starting without the makarov is a bit harder than with one, but to be frank 9 times /10 I find another gun before i'd even fired the makarov once. The problem is too many people are spawning on the coast and then just running into cherno or elektro. Try heading north for one of the small villages and then crawl through it looking for loot. or if you're feeling up to a trek Zelenogorsk is a great place to start loot hunting, having a church and a market.

dont bother until the hotfix is in, I just spent 3 hours trying to get on a working server with 5 other guys but 1.7.1 basically broke all sorts of shit. there is a hotfix comming shortly though.

Let me stop you there: these are "28 days later" style zombies, i.e. they are not dead, they are live humans infected with a virus that makes them act like zombies.

guys there is a hotfix in the pipe right now: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=13895 this is an alpha build mod, that mean its basically a prototype on which lots of testing needs doing and features are still being developed. you have to expect serious problems to crop up every now and then, thats the risk you accept when you play an alpha build game.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but I was crawling (prone) everywhere in or near towns before the patch. Are you seriously telling me you had a good success rate without crawling? if you did then that just goes to show that the zombies needed this buff' date=' if the zombies aren't a serious threat then the survival aspect of the game isn't very challenging (and survival is the primary focus of the game, not pvp). yup, somethings are broken for sure but as you say thats the nature of alpha. I got severely mauled by the deer stand spawn bug myself almost straight after installing the patch but i'm not whining about it. -

ok this patch has been a bit rough, I've experienced quite a number of bugs and the spawn rate is ridiculous. But this is alpha and you've got to expect things to get janky every now and then, thats why as a rule I don't play alpha or even beta games... I've made and exception for DayZ because its so much damn fun. It was a shame this came down on a weekend though, when so many people will be wanting to play the game. -

Even before the 1.7.1 patch I was crawling in every town so I see very little difference in that respect. Once the spawning bug is fixed I'm sure the gameplay will be fine... though at the moment its obscenely difficult but thats mainly due to the spawn bug. Killing 3 zombies at a deer stand is just as easy as it was in 1.7.0, its just 70 zombies that spawn after that make it tough :)
