I always wear camo or Ghillie If I find it, once in an early build it destroyed all my gear, sometimes I visibly spawn in water for a split seconds but otherwise it works. All in all i'd say in the current build you probably dont have too much to fear. -
I've played the game for... i don't know 100 hours? more?... I've never explored Cherno, and i think I've been though Elektro like twice. Its still too damn easy.

I like it. Its subtle yet conclusive, and you can't really spot it at distance or from a fleeting encounter... you have to be standing face to face. It would be easy to work into story/canon too via a "rage virus" type plot (I think that gave red eyes).. perhaps people are committing all these murders because they are in the early stages of infection... the only sign of which is red eyes.

Yeah you ought to be able to tangibly "clear" a small village of zombies for a while without them magically coming back every few minutes.

Spawn on friend = absolutely not, far too much potential for abuse. Spawn as group in random location or on coast = fucking essential IMO

In my many hours of play (not sure how many as steam isn't tracking beta) I have only killed a handful of people, and my last two characters (with ~5 days survival between them) have zero murders and zero bandit kills. I'm friendly, I'm also usually out of sight.

Yep, agreed. I like not starting with morphine, but the chance of getting a broken leg needs to be nerfed quite a bit. -

There have been some valid counter points brought up: 1) Drinking directly from water sources: agreed, this should be possible from any view point on the game, it simply doesnt make sense that you can die of thirst next to a water pump simply because you dont have a canteen. 2) You have to eat and drink more often than is realistically necessary: Maybe. Think about it, you need 2000 calories and 8 glasses of water a day in ordinary conditions.. A single can of beans is 328 calories, so to meet a normal energy requirement you would need to eat 6 cans of beans a day. now consider that we're sprinting dozens of km every day you can reasonably increase the calorie requirement substantially. Still this would need to be tweaked a bit. -
there are other potential issues too.. like if you were having a private skype call whilst playing that had nothing to do with the game.

+1 As a mechanic I feel it has been good for the game, it sets the pace and mood for the game for any new player (don't give them a starting weapon and they can't confuse this for a death match game) plus it makes the gameplay following spawn more interesting and fun (imo), and (this is based in limited experience) I believe it fosters more player to player communication and cooperation right from the go. I was against it when it was proposed, but now i'm a convert.

it would work technically but it would suck from an immersion breaking perspective. I agree we need something, but I feel it has to be more subtle. -
I don't like the idea of any mechanic that guarantees you're able to "carry over" items from one character to the next. We already have the tent which imo serves the purpose to a degree, maybe even too well if the half the bandit caches I hear tell about are true. Its simply contrary to the game's aim of being a survival game, if you can guarantee the carry over of important items then after your first character you then never really get the gameplay experience of having to survive from scratch... the whole point of the game.

sounds like a server performance killer.... Just sayin. Also i'm not sure there should be many zed in the woods, most would be in towns and villages when they got infected and you have to assume that once they become zed they will still have a predilection to stay in these areas.
