Enfield. THe double barrelled is a weapon of last resort. The enfield is compotent at killing bandits at medium to short range. Just dont fire the enfield in a town unless you want a zombie train. Switch to a pistol in that situation.

we dont want the bandit skin back, though it many ways it might be preferable to the current situation. What we want is a more sophisticated and subtle system but which ultimately achieves the same thing, i.e. allowing friendly players to trust each other and build a team. -

true, but its also true that taking skin morphing out has created at least as many problems as it solved. However i'm sure Rocket has mechanics in mind that we will see in due course that will address this issue in some way. He is on the record as stating that enabling team building is one of his next major design goals. -

I think that the guns are one of the few things in this mod that doesn't need work or balancing. Maybe ammo spawn rate needs to be nerfed so people think twice about wasting bullets on low value just spawned survivors. As it is at the moment, making my way to NWAF from a new spawn on the coast, my inventory and backback are stuffed with ammo before i'm even half way there.

Yeah its not as if Rocket et al don't know about the problem, they just haven't come up with a viable technical solution yet. This is a mod after all so in a lot of ways they are constrained by the arma2 engine. Just be patient, they'll figure something out.

I too am going bandit... mainly out of boredom at this point. there simply is no end game other than PvP. Scavenging and dodging bullets and zed is only fun for so long until you have 1 too many backstabs or leg breaks.. and then its just quit or bandit. I think eveyone reaches this point one way or another. -
FPS in this mod is mostly down to poor optimisation server side. In game DayZ I might get 40 fps at best (15 or less on bad servers - yes it is that server specific!!) but in the core game Arma2 is get solid 60fps with vsync and the same settings (I always use vsync). In other words, chill and enjoy this alpha mod, warts and all.

:D ok I lol'd pretty hard at that. on topic though, yeah, this has been suggested as a canon justification for all the insane pvp. I liked it better with the suggestion that there be some physical manifestation of the infection (where infection corresponds directly to humanity) such as red eyes a la 28 days later. -

I've been reading this bullshit all over the forums. This is an alpha build' date=' that means its not feature complete... you cannot say anything is permanent at this point. So no, we don't have to get used to it or deal with it because it [i']can be changed and very likely will be changed during the alpha development process. -

I doubt there are many FPS engines that can cope with the sheer scale of the map (and number of players), but other than that I would like do see this game made in the stalker xray engine... yeah its buggy but a lot of the features we want in DayZ are already in stalker. -
Character death should carry more weight

Just lower items spawn rates... that would make death (and loosing your equipment) much more of a problem. -
I agree breaking legs should be much much less common, but there is a fix for this already announced in the 1.7.2 build notes. Lets see how it pans out after 1.7.2 hits...

They are hearing you maybe? I always find that 9/10 I aggro via sound. Its pretty easy generally speaking to stay of of their line of sight. -
Mistake 1 Mistake 2 Mistake 3 Hint: the best loot areas are the hottest pvp zones, you want to steer well clear of these unless you are making a "nothing to lose" suicide run (which is a totally valid tactic if you're a fresh spawn). And just to clarify: by "steer well clear" I mean do not dream of going within 1.5km.

I have a mic... just doesn't work in DayZ for some reason.
