No, if anything it need to be much bigger, I think to support the game beyond a few weeks play it needs to be at least 4x the size. You forget that when you've been everywhere, have or have had camps in each area of the map, and have a clan with several vehicles... the map suddenly seems very small indeed.

I'm fedup of people making massive broad assumptions on the back of a few useless numbers. How do you know that stats aren't being heavily skewed by noobs on the coast dying to zombies 20 time in half an hour? No, thats just another bullshit assumption, how do you know that most of the other 83% aren't new or recent spawns, who will go on to be bandit or would if they had the skill/luck? These figures are utterly useless. -
How about the game is free... but you pay 50p for each character respawn (i.e.) when you die.....

Solo, pretty good for a couple of weeks, maybe 3 weeks. Then you need a group/clan.

Played for about 5 hours with a group, considerably more stable than 1.7.2, though one of our group did glitch out at one point and kept getting teleported back, he relogged though and then it was fine. On the whole performance and stability seem much improved. Also, no inventory loss like with 1.7.2.

I've been playing in a group recently and it has really hammered home just how difficult it is in dayZ to separate known friends from random survivors/bandits. If you're standing 15m from someone looking them full in the face you ought to be able to recognise them if you've been surviving with them for a week! My idea: Have an option when you mouse wheel on someone to mark them as a friend, then when you place your crosshair on them within 50m it shows their name above their head, or the crosshair goes green or something.- 1 reply

The game simply isn't for that demographic, either they need to up their irresponsible gaming addiction level or they need to find another game. I refuse to accept that every game has to be accessible to everyone. There is such a thing a a niche market.

Incentive for not being a bandit?

Because those figures are useless for one. Average life expectancy of ~30mins, requirement of 2 murders to become a bandit, therefore most of those "survivors" are just bandits who haven't killed enough people yet to be officially classified as such.. and what's more for most lives even if you're trying to be a serial killer you wont make it to "bandit" before dying (maybe not you personally but I'm talking about an average life in a statistical sense). The simple fact, useless figures aside, is that 80%+ of people shoot on sight (from my experience, and i'm sure many will agree with me). For me the only question that remains is how to deal with this in a fair way.... are you a bandit if you shoot a survivor that is stealing your car? are you a bandit if you shoot someone who's not responding to comms and has you cornered in a building with 1 exit? (even if it then turns out he had no gun). are you a bandit if you're rolling with a clan and shooting non-clan members on sight? There are subtleties that need to be very carefully engineered in any solution. -

My clan and I have also been experiencing massive desync, sometimes everyone on the server was at max desync, and other times even when there wasn't a red or yellow chain there was teleporting and skipping etc. Had fun with a car at one point where one of us actually desync'd out of the car whilst it was driving along, and then proceeded to rapidly switch between standing on the road a few KM back or being in the car. That happened twice, had to disconnect to solve. Other than that the FPS does seem to be more consistent, and doesnt seem to bog down as much as the server uptime increases.

So... take an engine (arma 2) which is renowned as a military simulator and has some of the best balistics avaliable in a game... throw out the guns... then implement shitty melee weapons via a bodged hack as the engine doesn't support it. Fucking idiot.

Thats odd... because the way I most often lose them is by breaking LoS and then going prone. Even just getting some good distance (100m) and going prone can do it. So all you need to do is weave around obstacles that the pathing AI has trouble with then hit the deck.

basically its not a current goal for the game but it will probably happen at somepoint in the distant future... maybe as a mod once DayZ becomes stand-alone.

how does laser sight on L85A2 AWS works (L) button?

in Arma 3 you can use the laser to pick out targets... it will be visible to anyone wearing NVG's, so its supposed to be used at night I guess.
