    Belts and other worn items.

I would like to suggest the addition of belts as a new inventory equippable. The belt itself is open to suggestion in that I have no other use for it other than wearing it, but it might be possible to have other uses added. The idea is that there would be various items you could attatch to it. For balancing, it would be fair to allow two, maybe three items to be clipped to it. First off (partially to just allow customization of appearance) canteens would be attachable and seen visibly on the character, giving a unique slot to hold one canteen just like the chest holster does for a gun. Secondly, there could be another slot for pouches (any container that holds items such as the first aid kit or protector case). This would also be visible (possibly, due to prot. cases being highly visible/ ammo boxes making a person more of a target) and take up the second slot. I also feel that if this were not to be easily done (I don't know all the programming that would have to go into it.) it could be made possible with the addition of various belt pouches that would only be attachable to the belt that would add various attachment capabilities. This could be a clip to attach a canteen, a 2-slot vertical pouch, a 4-slot square pouch, a hip holster, or other items that could be thought of. Ever since I found the uniqueness of having a piece of gear you'd wear for only one purpose and that looked kinda cool, I was disappointed to find it replaces by something like a tactical vest which was obviously better, making the chest holster obsolete. I feel this is a nice little addition that would allow players to change their appearance a bit more to their liking while still providing solid functionability without being too game-breaking. Once the hunting knife is added for carving out hunted kills, it could possibly get a belt-sheath for another belt-storage idea. I also wish to suggest another pistol holster for the leg, something I've seen worn by military peoples in many other games if only as a decorative thing, that could provide functionability as well as appearance customization for those who like it. (obviously a rare military loot) I'm also sure you are in the process of it, but I would also like to see a wider variety of backpacks. even the 25 slot one seems too big to be the smallest, so I feel there should just be a few others that are smaller but more common. (love how the current ones are to be rarer!) While holsters are in question here, maybe add a 'backpack' slot item that would act as a rifle holster? Once things like tents and other permanent player storage are added, people (especially bandits) would probably like to throw down their hefty gear laden backpack for an additional rifle? be able to carry the long range scoped mosin and a trusty M4 with its faster fire rate and close range reliability. Or possibly allow players to hold onto their beloved shotgun while still being able to use a longer ranged weapon. This one seems to balance itself since it would only be able to carry a rifle and would take the space of a backpack.

    Belts and other worn items.

Carry capacity would be cool if there were more things like belts and pouches with the backpacks having alightly reduced spaces.

    [NEW] MODULAR MILITARY BACKPACK

These packs are a nice way to diversify the current ones, the varied ways to change 'em up are good too. The only issue I have is that these larger packs, including the mountain one should be rarer. I also feel that to add more challenge, all packs should have slightly lower capacities. Some of them like tha taloon feel a bit large. I guess though it'd get better later when we have better uses of things like cookpots and stoves.

    suicide option

Nah, this would prevent things like breaking legs from being as bad an issue as they are. If they do add these things, it should be painful. It should take time to bleed out from them. Shooting yourself would be quick, but everything else would still take a bit.

    Peaches

Foods do seem to give a bit too much cal/hydration levels. I feel most should be nerfed a bit. That or the stomach should hold a bit less so that you have a harder time eating 7 cans of bens in a row...

    Logout animation and timer

If theres one thing that makes DayZ less enjoyable its the lack of player on player interaction. Yes I can grab a friend and hop into the world with a buddy watching my back, but what about the dozens of other players on the server? I tend to avoid them simply because half the time all they want to do is shoot you, ruin most or all of your gear, and salvage the remaining items. I admit though, I do this too. The difference however, is that I wouldn't do this all of the time if I knew there wasn't a chance of the player ducking behind a staircase to log out or even just disappearing in front of me as I yell for them to drop their weapon and put their hands up. Do more people think this way? I tend to think so. If this is the case, then I think some of the killing on sight situations might die down if there were to be a 15-20 second delay before a person actually disappeared from the server upon logout. During this time, the character would display some sort of unique animation (like a different version of sitting or something) that could only be displayed by the character in logout phase. This would allow players trying to hold someone up for their gear the chance to identify a person logging out and at least kill them and still get something out of the encounter. It may seem like killing would still be common, and yes it probably will be, but I feel that this would give at least some players an alternative to trying to hold someone up just to have them disappear and get nothing out of it. I know that if this were implemented, I would at least try to hold people up a bit more often. This change would also prevent 'combat loggers' from being able to bounce out when shot, in order to bandage and then move to a more advantageous position and log back in to try to kill their assailant. Maybe not a very common problem, but even so, would also be fixed by this change. I would also like to throw my support towards more civilian type gear that still rivals military, as in backpacks, shirt capacities, possible civilian vests etc. to keep players less concentrated on military areas and spread out more around the map.
  7. A GAME is a fully furnished house, decorated and filled with everything that you need. It is ready to be lived in. A BETA is an empty house, or one with only the essentials, a bed, a toilet etc. It could be lived in, but it wouldn't be comfortable until more things are touched up. AN ALPHA is the process starting at a blueprint and continuing on through the construction phase up until one could call it a building, until the major things like walls, a roof, internl plumbing and electrical wiring, etc are added, you cannot even tell what it is going to be until its near the end when you can see that there is a house in the making. Do you have any problems or complaints about the "game" ? The problem you are having, as well as many others who bought the Alpha is that you expected a house you could live in. You bought it fully thinking it would at least suit your needs, but until it hits it's beta stage, it just can't do that. Until the beta, it will not be what you want it to be. You are right to want to seek out something else for the time being, but are very wrong to think that it will never be what you wanted it to be. You bought an ALPHA, KNOW what that means before you start to cry on the forums. There are many stages of an alpha, and this is an EARLY alpha... People just need to realize how HUGE of a difference there is between an ALPHA and a BETA compared to a BETA and a full release GAME. I have posted this for those of you who are annoyed that the game isn't what you wanted/expected it to be. Or for those who hear "its just an alpha" and don't really know what that means, or who are mad at hearing the phrase. You aren't wrong for getting mad, you are just wrong in thinking that this is a game and not a foundation upon which a game will be built.

    No... use mine

    why good samiritans irritate me

I agree with your thoughts here, but as with the OP, I also prefer starting anew and tend to decline offers of help. I agree that it isn't 'forced' upon me to take it, but I understand his reasons for not wanting to accept it.

    why good samiritans irritate me

Eh, I wholeheartedly agree with OP... What should the acts of a good samaritan look like? This is how I have gone about it... People need to keep in mind as well that they overglorify the "hero" playstyle. I tend to want to play that way but this is a perfect example of what three people playing hero can look like: I am the sniper, the guy with a mosin in a bush 200M away, practiced enough to drop someone reliably from that distance, My two buddies each have M4s, one with the ACOG and bipod and the other more prepped for even closer engagements. We spot a player we decide might need help. I post up with my scope trained on him, the LR M4 buddy, doing the same at a closer rnage, different angle. The last one moves in behind a wall and calls to the guy to put away his weapon, press F2 etc... upon doing so, our 'victim is bound and blinded with a burlap sack. We then went through his stuff to see what he had and what he lkely needed, filled his pack with things we thought would aid him, then left him there to sort himself out as we took off. He probably though he was just robbed. We were just being cautious. What we gave him may save him, may not. But in the end, it couldn't have hurt his odds. This is what being a hero in this game should look like. Or at least similar. Those of you who run up to people and just say 'Howdy' are asking to die. And you don't just have to help them, maybe you give them a canteen and a bag of rice but take their can opener because you need one. With control of the situation, helping someone really can just be a forced trade
  11. Munchermanjz

    Why can opener?

Because some things like this add either difficulty, or balance to the game and will allow it to increase playability. How fun do you think it would be to just open all cans without an opening tool? It takes survival out of the game and makes it lean more to a deathmatch PVP genre
  12. Munchermanjz

    Char not saving?

Heres a place you might find its meaning again http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/170959-people-tell-you-your-post-is-bad-because-its-an-alpha-read-plz/ ignore everything but the OP cuz it spiraled to BS but the OP sums up what it means to play an alpha. But in all honesty, yes go play other games and come back to this one when it has matured enough to be called a "game" which will probably be a good 9 months to a year from now.
  13. Munchermanjz

    can some one tell?

I play on a laptop with 4GB RAM a lesser AMD CPU and a lesser graphics card. Though everything is turned to minimum with shadows and clouds off, I play it regularly and enjoy it thouroughly. Though lately the new steam update has broken my ability to play anything...
  14. Munchermanjz

    i just got reset

Don't let it bother you, if it does then... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/170959-people-tell-you-your-post-is-bad-because-its-an-alpha-read-plz/ Keep in mind, when you click "play" on steam, you aren't launching a "game" so much as a 3D bluebrint. The SA has not matured enough to be called a "game" yet so if you expect to play it and have fun like any other game out there you will only suffer disappointment. The disclaimer at the beginning makes sure you understand that these things WILL happen and that you need to accept that you can at any point lose everything you've collected at ANY point. This is because, again, you are not playing a "game"
  15. Munchermanjz

    Furious

The exact message I try to spread to people in half my posts, This DayZ SA hasn't reached nor is anywhere close to being a "game" its an "alpha" which is in no way the same thing. This post has become a lot of BS but the OP on it says it all. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/170959-people-tell-you-your-post-is-bad-because-its-an-alpha-read-plz/

Character Died from 5ft drop (estimate)

The problem here is you call this a game... its an alpha. There is a difference. OP, just saying, the engine this game was based off of has been around since the original xbox, the game operation flashpoint. Now I understand it has evolved since, and that many changes have been made, but some things still remain. One of which is the falling mechanic. I've seen players playing this break their legs walking down a staircase. not skipping the corner and falling 2 inches, literally on just the stairs. These things happen and its to be expected. I mean, why do you think you are forced to click I understand to that disclaimer before the main menu? Try giving my post "people tell you your post is bad because its and alpha? read plz" in the general discussion. most of the replies just lead to BS but the OP I put there kinda sums up what people are saying when they tell you its an alpha.

Kill on sight - newb advice

People need to keep in mind as well that they overglorify the "hero" playstyle. I tend to want to play that way but this is a perfect example of what three people playing hero can look like: I am the sniper, the guy with a mosin in a bush 200M away, practiced enough to drop someone reliably from that distance, My two buddies each have M4s, one with the ACOG and bipod and the other more prepped for even closer engagements. DayZ Alpha - How is it possible?

Kazcor, again reread my post... do it 100 times if you have to, but this is an EARLY ACCESS alpha. The kinda of thing you expect is what it will look like 6 months from now. don't bash it until you've given it a fair chance.

    Dead Body Timer

Right now, it is only there to help with cleaning the server since they are limited as is. With dead bodies cluttering up a server, the server will have a harder time running and will slow performance. Its the same reason why zombie bodies disappear immediately. Servers aren't intended to reset every 4 hours or however long like they do now, but the respawning element is too hard on the system to implement as of yet. If you've tried the experimental branch which doesn't really reset, you kinda get the idea. It will possibly get replaced with perma bodies or at least ones with closer to a 2 hours cleanup. Once the performance issues are dealt with, there probably won't be nearly as much need to clean up even the piles of dead new spawns that often. The suggestion is appreciated, but as with many of them, these things are already planned and are just waiting for the right time to be implemented.

    Character Body - Body Parts

As of now, infections are not in the game. The status that pops up after you use alcohol will always pop up. This is because the way the alcohol tincture works is it takes you immediately to the last stage of infected wounds, the recovery stage. This stage will pop up even if you had never gotten a single wound up until you used it. Try checking out Merino's guide here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159251-merinos-in-depth-video-guides-updated-jan-22nd-all-medical-items-to-keep-or-not-to-keep/ This will help you learn most if not all you need to know about what exists in game at this point.

    Do guns need balancing?

I don't feel they do. This game isn't designed to be a deathmatch, therefore it is one of the few games out there where it isn't necessary to balance guns. If a gun is more accurate and reliable, more powerful and often carries more ammo, let it. Its rarity can be tweaked for 'balancing' but thats to make it so not everyone has one. Theres no reason though to make guns balanced with each other if they don't act that way in reality. Its perfectly fair for someone to have the more overpowered weapon vs. someone with a wimpy gun. its the way the game goes. I mean its not like an overpowered gun means you will kill all players who oppose you. Its very easy to be snuck up on and killed without ever knowing a person was there. This should not be implemented til the game is near finished since there just isn't the quantity to make any sense to balance as of yet, but should it affect the future of the game?

    Berets more useful

I feel your pain here, just about everything that gets posted just gets hit by a ton of negativity. All you have to do is try to share an idea and everyone is going to hate on you for it. I myself know that the game engine wouldn't be able to do this even if it were a good idea, but other than real world things, the devs will not implement things like this. I still give you props for at least sharing your idea and again, I feel your pain when it comes to the negativity. People need to learn to reply only if there is something to add. If "no" has already been said, theres no reason to repeat it unless you are bringing a new reason as to why with that "no".
  23. I'm really just losing my faith in humanity right now. Looking at various threads, how people respond to things, the attitudes people have about things... I wouldn't be suprised if the fall of humanity on this planet is blamed on this generation... I mean people nowadays are dumber than dirt anyways... seriously, the next 40 people you see, probably aren't worth the food or space it takes to keep them around... its pitiful really.
  24. Exactly, what I'm saying though is simply that most people who say negative things about the game wil hear the phrase "its an alpha" to the extent I bet many don't really realize what it means for a game to be an alpha. I'm just hoping that some of those people who want to bash the game and tell others not to buy it because it sucks will read this and at least cool off to some extent because the Alpha isn't crap and the game will be great when finished. There are just too many people who bash the game without understanding that it really isn't a 'game' just yet.
  25. Then why post it. FFS people... if you aren't going to ADD to a post, DON't reply...
