People tell you your post is bad because its an alpha? read plz
Munchermanjz replied to Munchermanjz's topic in General Discussion
You obviously don't understand my post or the purpose behind it, or are just looking for an arguement. Its very simple, when something like being told the game is an alpha is told to a person crying about bugs for the first time, they probably don't pay it much mind. When they see it over and over? it kinda loses its meaning. I'm just trying to get people to understand just what it means to participate in an alpha and why their complaints are being tossed aside simply because "its an alpha" In all honesty, its more annoying for people to post something that adds nothing to a discussion than to give an expected reply to an expected reaction to something a person does not understand. Go to someone else's post and try making yourself useful for once... -
The idea I went for with this post is simply to get people to understand that this game isn't like the multiplayer shooters they are used to. There are posts I've seen where people expect to be able to be able to fight back in most situations with pretty much anything. Or that some guns aren't worth using because others are better. This is what I mean though. Some should be inferior. Not saying they aren't useful, but realism should be shot for when adding newer guns into the game later in development. (not all discussions need to be about the here and now) Right now, the stats for guns currently in the game could be placeholders used to just add diversity to the weapons. The FNx45 might end up being much more powerful later on. My point is simply that once there are many more guns in the game, you can't expect guns to be balanced. For those of you who know this, this post really isn't for you. Its for all the people I've seen whining about how overpowered one gun is over another. Which is as it should be. Especially when considering the specific engagement.

Don't ask us to not to tell you its an alpha until you know what an alpha is... A GAME is a fully furnished house, decorated and filled with everything that you need. It is ready to be lived in. A BETA is an empty house, or one with only the essentials, a bed, a toilet etc. It could be lived in, but it wouldn't be comfortable until more things are touched up. AN ALPHA is the process starting at a blueprint and continuing on through the construction phase up until one could call it a building, until the major things like walls, a roof, internl plumbing and electrical wiring, etc are added, you cannot even tell what it is going to be until its near the end when you can see that there is a house in the making. The problem you are having, as well as many others who bought the Alpha is that you expected a house you could live in. You bought it fully thinking it would at least suit your needs, but until it hits it's beta stage, it just can't do that. Until the beta, it will not be what you want it to be. You are right to want to seek out something else for the time being, but are very wrong to think that it will never be what you wanted it to be. People just need to realize how HUGE of a difference there is between an ALPHA and a BETA compared to a BETA and a full release GAME.

The Chest Holster and it's amazing potential it could bring to DayZ!
Munchermanjz replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in Suggestions
The only problem I see is the amount of work that I would expect to be required based on what I've seen of the engine. Engines like BFs or CoDs are more suited to the faster paced playstyle this supports, but I've played with this engine since the original operation flashpoint from the original xbox, and I feel there are just too many limitations that would make doing this absolute hell. Even if it were done, it would not be as fast nor useful as you would want. I see it being right now no different than the animation to get off the ladder, you float on the ladder instead of falling and can turn as you would off ladder, and have to repeat the getting-on ladder animation all over. It might look more refined if implemented, but the actual action would take about the same amount of time. The real way to be the safest on a ladder? make some friends and have them watch your back, or better yet, have them climb the ladder for you and watch them get shot, kill the shooter and get two bodies to loot for the price of one! -
It probably already has other uses in mind, so even if it doesn't now, it might justify its size later. Remember, not a lot had been put into the game yet so theres room for expansion for everything.

Read first before you complain about other players
Munchermanjz replied to DirtyscumbagLith's topic in General Discussion
I've had the same experience, I even took it a step further. I climbed to the top of the air tower fully kitted, and made sure I looked that way, then I jumped onto the 1 story section that cannot be reached in any way other than by jumping. I died as expected (on a server I knew had just reset) I spawned fresh and made my way to the NWAF where I had done this, even with little gear as I had, I got back to that tower before the next reset, and there, right next to my old body (before body cleanup was implemented) was at least a dozen others, all half-geared, looking to score what I had. Death has never been as much fun since. -
I pray to you Rocket, I pray that you do the right thing. Make the game what YOU see it to be, make it how YOU want it. But for the love of all things, DON'T give in to the lust for money. DON't sell out and actually listen and apply what people want to YOUR game. YOU can create that shining beacon, that just might lead gaming back to the rightful path, where developers make a shining work of art THEIR way. People will fall to their knees and beg you to dumb it down, to make it easy and simple to understand, to appease them. But this has been the downfall of the gaming industry in the last 5-10 years. Its why the classics are still the best. Why people will stick religiously to the original game and not it's sequels. Games have been dumbed down from their awesome state so that a wider variety of players will pick it up and play it, to make more money from more people at the cost of quality. The small group that made the game what it was got it started, made people consider buying the sequel, which was dumbed down to appeal to those who didn't want to or might not have understood the original. The same process was done for the next sequel... again and again until the series is the laughing stock of the world. Need an example? Try CoD. Yes it has its moments, is can still be fun, but ask gamers how they think. Most will tell you it died at MW or MW2, they are the older generation, the ones who knew what a good game was made of. people like the guy who started this post just don't belong in this group, they belong in the modern release of CoD, the ones who were appeased to as the game lost its luster. It isn't an insult to tell someone to go play the older CoD games, as hacked as they are... They are the good ones. But now? Being told they should be playing CoD is an insult to many people because the community who plays itnow ruined what it was. Rocket, keep DayZ from falling down this path. For the love of gaming, do this and you shall be rewarded with dedicated gamers and fans who will follow you through everything you go on to make. Just keep the dream alive, and the dream will carry you on.

I understand your frustration, but put simply, you're an idiot. The alpha isn't what you expected. I get that. You wanted a zombie game, I get that too. And yes the zombies are not close to a threat. Everything you say is true. BUT.... Even though I agree with all this, even though its perfectly understandable how you feel about it, there is one thing that renders your whole rant void. You call this a game. You think you bought a "game". And by using the term and thinking it is the same as calling it an alpha, that the two are even related, you are an idiot. Most people who rant about the alpha think its a game, think theres a similarity and its just not the case. This is NOT a game. Not yet anyways. Imagine it like a skeleton, it can't walk and talk, it can't do anything, theres not enough there. Right now, all that is in the alpha is a blank city and players. NOTHING else is as it will be in the full release. You are looking for a GAME to play and an ALPHA is NOT a GAME. It is the beginning fetus stage of what will grow into a fully functional game, but at no point are they the same. For what you wanted out of it, you are right to be mad. It isn't what you wanted though. It never was. And THAT is what it means when people tell you it is an alpha. You may have experienced a BETA before, and a beta is a game, they can be interchanged at will. A beta isn't quite done, but all that is left is fixing bugs. The GAME itself is finished in a beta, just not polished. To put it in terms you can more easily identify: A GAME is a fully furnished house, decorated and filled with everything that you need. Just keep in mind, the game arma did exist, and there was a story in it, and even things you see in chernarus tend to point to the idea that this is based on the same thing, I think Rocket and the other devs are just tying the game to what they used to make it, and in Arma, there was US involvement in the area. If anything, just because an area is russian, you can't assume things like M4s simply can't be there.
-
Idea has some merit, but actual implementation might be slightly hard, at least with that timing. You would expect a similar effect with sodas already in game, but they just add hydration as well as a small equivalent to eating. If this were to be changed to be like you want, it wouldn't be until after the food preparation mechanic is added. Mixing the coffee and implementing that might happen, but adding the later crash would require a mechanic not currently in game and would probably be something a good month away after the cooking element is added. Still, I support the idea. Its always good to add things that mix things up and have benefits and drawbacks.

hey all just bought the game i need help for grafik settings
Munchermanjz replied to survivor85's topic in Troubleshooting
If you run the game with shadows and the like turned on though, it would probably help to turn those off in cities too, they tend to tax the system quite a bit as well. -

Munchermanjz replied to survivor85's topic in Troubleshooting
bigger cities just run heavy, keep in mind though that this was also the case for the Arma games that this was based on, so it kinda carried over. Best advice? just turn down view distance to minimal levels in the biggest cities, especially cherno, since there are many city areas surrounding it too so your PC is loading more than you might think. This is something that is most likely going to be fixed at a later date however, once servers and the engine are optimized. No guarantees but the possibility iss always there. -
And this should be implemented later on. er... it WILL be more like. At least I remember reading that somewhere.

The silencer works... Always has. Read up on them though. Theres a reason that in Arma 2 you needed the STANAG SD mags to actually fire a silenced weapon. Not quite realistic to restrict them, they just need to add the subsonic SD ammo that a silenced weapon requires. It would have different velocity and dmg stats but its just how these things work...
-
Keep in mind, theres a high liklihood that DayZ is in some way related to the Arma game of which it was designed from, therefore western weapons do actually have a place in game. Overall though, I feel having a gun should be a luxury and be rather hard/rare to aquire. Or at least ammo. What really needs to be done is simply make Cmags and STANAGs spawn empty... ammo is too common especially for the M4 so if players rarely had more than 20-40 rounds for a gun most people assume to only be full auto, they might pick something else.
-
Shotguns are far more effective even at range than you would think if you have only ever learned about them in video games. Before posting something like this, go out and shoot one... get a feel for it. If you can't do that, at least research it. I'm willing to bet that you did neither of these before rage posting, which itself should not be done as it does not add to a discussion and serves no purpose... Someone should repost this with only those posts who actually add to the topic...

Guns will come in time, I feel that players like variety so as far as I'm concerned it would be nice to eventually have enough that it'd be hard to find the one you want. They just need to make military grade ones the rarest and civilian ones more common, though still rare. Not every player should even have a gun.

Game really hard on high-pop servers
Munchermanjz replied to infiltrator's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah, I've noticed these servers don't experience the regular restarts like regular ones do... I just wait for the patch. -
Latest Patch Caused Major Desync For Me. You?
Munchermanjz replied to Cord502's topic in Troubleshooting
Its not that someone will get back to you, its that the problem will be identified by patterns using multiple people's system info and then fixed in a patch. The fix is just easier with more info to go off of... -
Why does everything get ruined when you get shot?
Munchermanjz replied to Zjasuu's topic in General Discussion
Shots are just not detected 100% I'm guessing, but so long as you are still alive, only where you are hit is damaged, but one additional shot into a dead body, (on the ground or not) ruins everything. Be disciplined people, don't just spray with those M4s -

and to reply to first aid kit not appearing? Just put it in your hands, you can access it immediately that way -
Why does everything get ruined when you get shot?
Munchermanjz replied to Zjasuu's topic in General Discussion
Its to reduce a person's urge to kill on sight, less people might shoot you upon seeing you if the stuff on you is ruined. That and it makes a bit of sense, that if your backpack gets shot up then the stuff in it gets damaged too. This is why you don't keep all your bandages on the same part of the body, pants backpack etc -
[Sugestion]Solution To Kos, Server Hopping, Zombie Balance, Gameplay Enhancement...
Munchermanjz replied to ronhillultra's topic in Suggestions
Yeah, these things have been planned already, but its not like they can implement them all tomorrow. It will take time. Taking out hives would not work as well as you think, I mean what happens to a player who spends 20 hours building a character just to find that server offline when they go to play? Hardcore servers with their own private hives are in place for your 1st person whining... Zombies are a placeholder, as far as the devs are concerned, there arent zombies in the game atm... The devs can only do so much at a time with the people they have, and as an alpha, adding content and getting it to function properly is more important than fixing the game to fit player's needs. Thats not to say they won't be fixing things for players, it just means its not priority and therefore will allocate only a small amount of time/resources to it. -
The spawn rates have been lowered, significantly, the M4 was too common so they made it harder to get.

Ghosting/server Hopping, Combat Logging/bandit System, And Also Zombie Difficulty
Munchermanjz replied to cels's topic in Suggestions
Everyone needs to just stop with these posts. Yes bandits and KoS are a problem right now, but that isn't going to persist when theres more for them to do once the game progresses and is closer to being finished. But since theres not enough for players to do once they have spent their 3 hours getting to and server hopping for gear. These things will get better in time, just hold on and be patient instead of crowding the forums with something that has been posted about 40 times in the last week.
