    Maunsell seaforts [and others]

I'm not all that into the WWII, but what you're saying makes an awful lot of sense. Even though gameplay > realism for me, and the devs mostly, a huge-ass fort would be hard to explain. -,Jor

The most important meal of the day! (dayz suggestion)

I see where you're coming from now, i misunderstood :P Not even at the first few spawns? -,Jor

The most important meal of the day! (dayz suggestion)

Wouldn't that make the game even less appealing to new players? It was hard enough to find food and drinks in the first place when we all started on this, let alone having to know every recipe for specific foods! -,Jor

More zombies? Only in certain areas.

Hasn't this been suggested a couple hundred times before? Please try and use the search function before creating a new topic! -,Jor

    Maunsell seaforts [and others]

Well helleuw, DayZ community! My name's Jorrit, and i've been playing DayZ SA for a while now. Looking trough forums, talking to other players, got me to the same conclusion as many others on this forum: what about some new, interesting locations/loot sites? The ship north of Berezino is great, and the building in Novo was spot-on too, but most of the new towns use the same repetitive stock-houses. This isn't a bad thing at all, and making custom houses over and over would be impossible, but outside the towns i haven't had many new or fun experiences, climbing into stranded ships etcetera. Now, here are some idea's i've been thinking of which could be a good addition to the map. Any suggestions, please leave them here and i'll add them later. Please share opinions and idea's below! Water/ocean structures: 1: The Maunsell seaforts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunsell_Forts Built in WWII by the British, these forts would make for a great militairy lootspawn off the coast. These forts were originally built here to defend against German submarines, but soon lost their purpose when the war was over. These forts would make a great addition to the map, as there is a huge ocean which. as of now, is unused (i am aware of the future plans as for adding an island to the southern part of the map). Can't believe noone suggested this one before! 1.1: Oil rigs: Everyone knows what an oil rig is! Industrial loot, sidearm weapons are to be found here. *Credit goes out to degude 2: Random boats: Have a couple abandoned, non-controllable boats spawn in on every server restart, at random locations. Similar to heli crash sites, but on water! Loot tables could pretty much contain anything! *Credit goes out to degude Wasteland structures: 1: Abandoned amusement parks: Although suggested numerous times on this forum, i just had to include this one. The PVP would be bizarre, and the loot could go from clothing to food, with less weaponry. *Even though it seems cool, an amusement park wouldn't really fit the Chernarussian countryside, and wouldn't really add all that much to the map itself. Forest structures: 1: Logging camp Having a couple bigger woodchucker's settlements would be a nice way to fill up the forest withouth actually filling or deleting it. Industrial loot, mostly. 2: Camp sites/log cabins: Again, a nice way to fill up the forest and empty stretches of nothing, making the forests a more appealing place to visit. The log cabins could spawn some civillian guns, the camp sites provide a free bonfire and possibly some food. *Credit goes out to d.walker43 *Although i have used the 'search forum' function, i haven't had the time to do so extensively, therefore i am not sure this is a unique topic!

    Non-Lethal Alternatives

The problem with Taser slugs would be the fact that it takes up your primairy weapon slot. Tazers and all that, maybe some pepperspray, take up as much space as a pistol, making it worthwile to carry with you, but let's be honest: if you run into a guy or 3, with nothing but a tasing slug, you'd pray to have a lethal weapon, one with a longer range of effectiveness than the buckshots you carry with you. Maybe the sawed-off shotgun (confirmed) won't take up your primairy slot?

    Poisonous Berries

I'm not sure wether this will be implemented already on the update in the first place, going to have to read trough the update notes again, but making the berries as unchallengning as simply inspecting them would be kind of disappointing in my opinion. If there'd be about 10-20 species of berries, all with slightly different textures and/or colors, you'd have to know your berries before eating them. Making it one of those 'mother nature-knowital'-things, which would be fun i think.

Putting backpacks in hand - Looting in "safety"

With the current server restart that seem to happen every time i loot someone, i wouldn't want to do that. I would, if the server restarts were pre-announced at least a minute early.

DayZ - Bringing in elements from the Mod

Maybe make the color or kind of facial hair decide wether a player is a Hero, survivor or a bandit? Bandits get slick mustaches, which they can cover in their masks, as where regular survivors get some sidebeard to their face? A hero would grow a full beard, covering the entire face, making it a much more desirable playstyle. (who wouldn't want a full beard?! KoS problem fixed!). This would only work if the survivor has been alive for a good period of time, as killing one or two people with your fresh-spawn baseball bat won't decide what you are going to do with the following 10+ hours of living.

your last breath - what will you waste it for?

I´d love for this to be implemented, as you can make a little meeting with your killer. If it´d be something like ´Come to Kamyshovo in 10 minutes, see if you can pull that off again´, or a more sensitive speach, which would indeed counter KoS for a bit :D
  12. Thank you guys, for the quick reply and clear answers ^^ I'll be able to sleep tonight, knowing i won't be killing or getting killed for nothing :>
  13. I know i ain't the first one to whine about this, but the 10 minute despawn on dead bodies is horrible in my humble opinion! For me, an average firefight with 3+ friends and 3+ enemies takes an average 25 minutes or so, meaning the only loot you'd be able to pick up would be the last guy's. A despawn would be alright with me, even though i don't agree with it at all, but 10 minutes? That's just ways too short to loot a body. Also, if the person that killed me wouldn't want others to get the gear, he'd just hide it. With this mechanic in place hiding would become pretty much obsolete, as in such a short period of time the chances of running into someone trying to take the loot are minime. What, except for server preformance, are the upsides to this mechanic exactly? (Not going to read 44 pages of comments...)

    Can we talk about gambling?

Well, i don't see how this would work withouth a safezone. If you want to play some roulette, start the game, and notice the guy you're playing against has a friend with a pistol that's coming your way you're basically fudged. It's just too risky to actually gamble against someone withouth protection from firearms in my opinion.
