    Whats your Reason?

I love exploring the map, looting buildings, finding locations not marked on the map itself, getting lost, finding my bearings again, making tactical decisions about engaging (or not engaging) zombies, etc. For that reason, I tend to ignore players and just do my own thing. Loot for PvE is really easy to get, there's no profit for me in shooting others. Balls to the leaderboards, if I'm having fun I'm playing it right. That's the reason.

IF this was an actual game...

I've always been a fan of a well implemented game purchase + DLC model. So long as the DLCs never. sell. power.! Seriously, don't sell power.
  3. Yay for more servers! Hopefully soon the enter-spam will be a habit of the past.

Why the Anti PvP arguments are pathetic

Removing PvP is absolutely ludicrous, it's a mainstay of the very mod in every instance! Making it more challenging to actually succeed in PvP, that is a much more difficult thing to do. I haven't actually seen anyone say they want PvP gone in its entirety, though I have personally said it is far too easy to grab a 550 and just be a douche. In due time, I am sure the mod will have a sensible approach to PvE and PvP both, but neither should EVER be removed. The combination is one of the things that sets DayZ apart from other zombie games.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

I don't think the whole point about in-game murder being "close to real life" is valid. In real life, I can't spot someone atop a building, go to a 'parallel world' and move to that location, return to his world and feed him shotgun shells at point blank. That is just one example where the whole "oh it is so realistic" thing falls flat on its face in my opinion. Having said that, I heard talk about NPC killteams going after full-time campers and I'm all in favor - so long as they're beatable! A very good sniper should have the ability to take them out and gain formidable loot from the whole thing, while someone who's just stroking his e-willy by randomly firing at newbies would get ground into paste. Murder must be a part of post-apoc, it always is in any of the literature as well. I'd rather not name the other staples of post-apoc materials, but thankfully I can't see them being implemented any time soon. However, like with survival, it should require a certain amount of skill to do it for prolonged periods of time. As it stands, the bountiful CZ550 ammo makes it far too easy for a newbie to climb atop a tower and feel like the big dog after shooting three newbies himself. And on that note: I don't like bandit skins. While I don't have one myself, I know quite a few folks who got theirs by putting someone out who shot at them and missed... That seems more like a punishment for competence, than a proper judgment of the player's character.

    Knockdown

I've been owned by knockdowns quite a few times, almost as often as I got sniped by bandits, really. And honestly? I like it that way. Imagine for a second, if rocket took the knockdown out. Teaming up would not just be risky and mean only a part of the loot is yours, it would also not serve a purpose. In fact, it would defeat the purpose. You may get hit and require bandages other players have looted, you may also have to share weapons and ammo other players saw first. Not to mention: If you do find something epic, they may just put one in the back of your head for good measure. For what would this happen? For nothing. There's no situation where more people making noise could benefit you at all. Suddenly, solo play would be the only viable play. Next people would get bored, sit on rooftops, snipe newbies and wonder how it came to this. The knockdown forces you to either seek support of allies, or make intelligent decisions about engagements. Do I shoot now, or do I pass on the lootable building? Do I run into the building and risk agitating more zombies as I do? The list goes on. This consideration would not be there anymore, if zombies could not pose a legitimate threat. Yes, even when the threat comes from a comparatively cheap knockdown move.
