What Alpha Is Supposed To Be (A Discussion On Dev Direction And If The Game Will Ever Be Completed)
Nebulae3 replied to jovlon's topic in General Discussion
Maybe we need a similar forum policy like Star citizen to show below our forum nick who is actually a backer of DayZ early alpha. There are many internetz trolls out there.. -
What Alpha Is Supposed To Be (A Discussion On Dev Direction And If The Game Will Ever Be Completed)
Nebulae3 replied to jovlon's topic in General Discussion
This sentence doesn't make any sense.. DayZ have nothing to do with Bethesda company. Todd Howard didn't develop ESO - his team just assisted the lore part. TES (the elder scrolls) is a single player game like Skyrim. -

I hope you're not from ESO - that ship is sinking and fast! All abandon ship! ;D Unless they hire Todd Howard, but he is busy with 'new' Fallout. -Ori -

Servers with connection issues to central hive
Nebulae3 replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Can we get a hardware requirement for a server? So much garbage servers. -
Hm, really, I've not experienced it yet.. They've wiped characters, but that is after new patches. It's alpha so if it's a bug, well, report it. (Bug report section)
-
Did u read anything I wrote above? I think u clicked on a hardcore server; you don't lose your equipment, but you will start a new character on a different game mode. Edit; see it as two character slots. 1. Hardcore server mode. 2. Regular server mode.
-
Try to log on a similar server like Regular Fragnet, MPGS.CO, or Gameservers.com - maybe your character with equipment will come back. (click on host.) And remember if you (click on 'mode') you can decide to play on a hardcore server, which is only 1st person view, or regular server, which also support 3rd person view. The thing is if you log on a hardcore mode server even with same character name: You start without equipment. It seems that hardcore and regular servers are unique, which means you can't use your regular character with equipment on a hardcore server or vice versa. Always check game mode in that server list. Although, there're many garbage hosts out there at the moment; I hope servers need hardware requirement in near future. -Ori

No, it's not internet issues; it's about bandwidth and quality hardware related to host a server. And, of course, it's alpha, so they can optimize the software.
-
People are not 'dumb', but a lot of people don't know what an alpha or beta is all about in details. Brief; an alpha is a very early stage of the game development. When people paid for BF4, they expect a game without glitches, bugs, and errors with the amount of money it cost to be a premium member for instance. -Ori

I'm also curious why people buy alpha versions - a new twist maybe..Perhaps, we can add some cool features in a game we enjoy, yeah, perhaps..Maybe because of zombies, I don't know.. In a sci-fi, we've aliens; what look most dangerous? Perhaps, people are tired of easy mode console games for kids?Or maybe some are bored of WoW style mmo aspect - that most features are already set in stone, and with little room for player creativity..It must be something unique, because a lot of people are buying an alpha version of DayZ. -Ori
-
qft.I agree, don't call this an mmo with an maximum of 40 players on each server on this huge map.About hardware; if you can't run games like star citizen get a new pc.I would rather have some 'few' official quality servers compare to 'some' kids/admins abusing god mode on private servers. They also need to increase the requirement on hardware to even run a server. The quality is really bad sometimes with slow responds from the server - when you eat, aim doing something with your character in-game.

The Wall bug will be there in release version too - unless they get a new game engine, which I recommend; either Frostbite 3 that BF4 used, or Cryengine 3 that Star Citizen will use. You don't have that low fps due to buildings in BF4 for example as you have in larger villages in Arma 3, and this standalone. http://www.crytek.com http://www.frostbite.com B) Edited: I'm curious too, what are the main reasons to use this engine? I'm following the topic too.

This kitten is curious why you're amazed, it was not tiny bit of irony there or? :D Yeah, we don't like walls not only players walk through, but zombies are in fact exploiting the wall sections. Anyway, it's still an alpha version.

Looking for HELP.. Serious replies only PLEASE
Nebulae3 replied to Mr Jizz's topic in General Discussion
There're some abusing admin options too, and it's in the same category as cheating or hacking. It happend to me earlier in one of the private servers - so I usually play on official servers. -Ori -
DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.
Nebulae3 replied to Murakamo's topic in General Discussion
I don't agree; it's easier to camp certain places on the map without any careful in-game plans how to meet, and such easy mode options will be exploited. Edited; maybe spawn, but not 'summon' someone. -

Nebulae3 replied to Murakamo's topic in General Discussion
There're three major reasons which create it unique somehow and difficult for nubs, perhaps confusing the first months. 1. Map size. 2. Foreign/russian language on road signs. 3. You need to plan to meet someone in-game, which could take hours and will end up in the category (time issues; it will help with cars, planes, which is not implemented yet.) -

I think every bad action except hacking is justified in this game

Add camping/sniping Airfields to that list. :) -
Hm, on sunday I barely played due to full servers..

I want to buy a new game engine, Frostbite 3. )) They are creating Star Wars Battlefront on it too. FPS movements will improve, and AI will certainly improve; graphic will look a lot better with a new engine in Dayz. And it's easier to optimize frames pr. second with AMD or Intel pc. http://www.crytek.com http://www.frostbite.com -Ori

The main game concept is about survival. Zombies will smell 'fresh meat' in a horror world - similar like the orcs in the LOTR movie. However, this is not CoD or BF4 with K/D ratio and capture the flag kind of approach. Try to play it; how many (days) can you survive.. I mentioned about the amount of players, because it's easy to use the terrain to remain hidden, and the map is huge.. So that's why they need to increase 'item' spawn timer with more players on each server in my opinion. -Ori
