  1. The weapon sorting from everywhere to hyper rare.. i really think it needs an improvement. i mean, some weapons on that list are very common, and i personally think the standalone version has to make the game more about surviving again, and not about shooting other players. don't get me wrong, i'm a bandit type of player myself, but if the game would make you seriously think twice about taking a shot at someone it would be an huuuge improvement. so firearms in general, everything non-melee based should be seriously rare. some houses could have a handgun in a drawer, or if you are lucky you find a hunting rifle - but these guns have to be so rare that you don't actually want to risk losing them again. also ammo - right now it takes you barely 30 minutes to find an ak with about 6 mags, and you keep finding mags for them on the run like they grow on trees. if it would be realistic, there would be like one revolver in a house with probably 2 clips - and finding more for the revolver would be something really exciting. there could be gun stores around the cities, that usually would yield more stuff, most likely some ammo, but they would be tough to reach, some players may barricade in them, these things basically are meant for the early game.. it just sucks right now like, you spawn and instantly find an lee enfield, and there is fuckign war everywhere - this is so very unrealistic.

    While this might not be the right place to ask this question, i wonder - how to become such an volunteer? I have tons and tons of time so i´d like to join this testers group if possible... but i guess there are hundreds of players in line before me.. right?
  3. Hey again. So, i´d like to kinda bump this thread while hoping to get some official answer to the initial question. The thing is, there are some 'Private' servers out there, that are not connected to the hive, and my mates all start to play on these players more and more often. Ofcourse the reason is simple, there are no serverhoppers and to get real good gear on this server you have to invest some time... But while i understand and totally like the "no serverhoppers" point here, i just don't like the way this is heading. So while i am against playing on such private no-hive servers there are discussions coming up now and then about if or if not it is - or even was - intended to be like that. To be like, Every Server has it´s own database and no hive connection.. All i want is some official comment about this to settle these arguments and discussions. regards

    Experimental 1.7.2.1 test patch

    I'm not ble to join at all. Just got the files, extracted them into my @dayz/addons folder but after i join the server it just says that my version is wrong and that i am using 1.7.2 instead of the required 1.7.2.1. :/
  5. Hello. The thread title might be a bit confusing, but i hope you get what i mean. Some guy, said he's playing since months now, told me that it is planned to make everything server side only as soon as the game hits beta or beyond. Like, no hive that saves player positions, characters and stuff everywhere and kinda connects all servers together... Every server would have it´s own world, but it would probably support up to 200 players, more zeds and stuff. This would be done to fix several issues like serverhopping or relogging behind players etc.. Is this actually true? I don't really belive him, because this makes no sense at all imo. The hive feature that emulates this kind of mmo experience is something that makes dayz what it is, and serverhopping and these issues i mentioned should be fixed ofcourse, but not like this. So does anyone know or have a link or something to some official statement about this?

    STOP SERVER HOPPERS!

    Sure, he could have searched for it and posted on one of the thousands other threads regarding this issue. But seriously, while this is ofcourse an alpha, this issue is just as major as it can possibly be at this moment and has to be fixed in some way soon. I really hope that the pending 1.7.2 is delayed because of such an anti-hopping or disconnecting to avoid death feature and testing of it's functionality.
  7. how ever it will be realized, but there HAS zo be something to prevent this hopping ASAP. yesterday a mate died to a serverhopper that just spawned in the back of the barracks, today first we got shot at from one guy that spawned also at the back of the barracks. after that i died to another one on the other barracks, also that just spawned right behind me. funny thing is, in all situations we were not even able to actually kill any of them, because they disappeared faster than you actually were able to realize anything happened. Alt F4 or just aborting is ridicolous right now, so besides the possibility to serverhop there has to be some logout-delay just to prevent fleeing from danger aswell.
  8. Bad for you, but that´s not a DayZ issue. Everyone else is able to play you, you might have just forgotten something while installing, or need to update your drivers or whatever. I'd like to hear some comments on this topic, if or if not people aggree that the fixing priorities should be kinda moved..

I am starting this thread because, while the recent fixes and several new features were ofcourse great, i really think there are some minor priority issues with the kind of issues being addressed and features being added. There are bugs and problems, like especially with the inventory, disappearing items and such, that need to be addressed before adding new weapons and things like that! I already made a suggestion thread, but that one is already lost in the nether of this forum, so i thought it might be worth a shot to actually start a discussion about this and see if it might be possible to reach out to the devs about this "request". I saw the WTF is...? with TotalBiscuit and Rocket, and heard he is focusing on the Group System as a main priority, but the inventory is or can be kinda gamebreaking. So what do you think? Any comments on that?
  10. While this is an excellent idea, i would go a little bit further and even add some kind of timezone restriction, if possible. Like right now, people are playing on servers that have daylight only - restricting someone to the region he plays from (kinda) makes it more realistic and dangerous in several ways. while playtime might suffer i really thing gameplay could benefit from it. both this points, the OP´s number on players idea aswell as the timezone restriction could probably merged into some kind of "non-serverbrowser-based" joining. like, press button "Join the DayZ" (whatever) out of the menu, and it will conenct you to a mid populated server out of your region and timezone. If you want to play with friends, you would have to form a group before joining the game, but there could be a "friendlist/clan" like feature so people actually could join your game, if there is a slot available. if this is possible to create, it would be awesome!
  11. Hello. This suggestions is probably not that new, but i really think it is something that needs to be considered, and that with a high priority. Just yesterday i found an FN FAL, stuffed it into my backpack and then, while trying to switch between my DMR some time later, the FN FAL just disappeared. It wasn't on the ground or anything, it was just gone, including all magazines for it. Today, while i found something to replace the FN FAL and had it again in my backpack, while holding my DMR, i thought that i won't to do the same mistake again, so i decided to drop the DMR first out of the inventory and then get the Bizon out of my BP. Dropped the DMR, and it as gone. Disappeared. Very Nice. :dodgy: So, while this story just tries to show you the reasons for this "suggestion", i really think besides adding new and cool features like new items, melee weapons and other features, this is one of the major features that needs fixing or even better, an overhaul. The question is, if this is even possible at all? If the answer is YES, please consider this as a suggestion to overhaul and fix the Inventory system, make it more userfriendly and intuative and ofcourse bug-free. It won't need that much work, just simple drag and drop all over the inventory not just out of the BP, with like an showing of the backpack slots if you open them out of the inventory and not while investigating some gear only etc. regards, Patcheazy

    Date/Time: Thursday, 21.06.2012, 05:00 AM (UTC+1, Germany) What happened: I tried if converting 2 half empty 1911 clips would be converted to a full one and discovered that it is possible to convert an, no matter how empty (but it has to exist, so 1 bullet at least) 1911 to colt .45 and it would end up in a full magazine - back to 1911 and it´s still full. Unlimited ammo. Where you were: Did not matter, though i was at the Devils Castle.   13. YES Because, Realism. Seriously, not everyone owns a gun (lets see this fact worldwide and not US only..) Also it makes the Survival part way more interesting - you have to find a way to lose following zed´s or you'll die. Simple as that.
