    Death, unconsciousness and wounds.

You should learn how to type it unconsciously.. ;) In regard to your main point I do agree. I think this is unfortunately where realism gets away from you. I'm not going to go into detail but being shot is messy, fucking sore, a ridiculous mindfuck and puts you into shock within seconds (generally just after you think to yourself, "oh, I've been shot, that's odd"). Now I'm not talking soldiers here, they are trained for that shit, I'm talking your average joe on the street. Even if you were to bring realism to a point in game, you would need to operate on yourself to remove the bullet(s), then stitch yourself up, and then to bandage yourself. All this while shaking and likely to be losing your vision. I think with this in mind all you can really do is have a vague compromise.

    Respawning dead..

This is not directly linked to the problem that the OP is having, but as it's related to being unconscious I thought I'd add it in here rather than start a new thread. Much to my surprise I awoke from a fire fight that had put me unconscious. Not sure if this is something specific to the new experimental build but it's the first time it's happened. I was fully hydrated and energised at the time of my knock out and when I awoke my screen was as lacking in colour as an early silent movie and most of my gear was ruined, but it was the first time I've awoken from being unconscious. Oh, and no, I wasn't revived by someone. The only people in the vicinity was me and my now dead enemy. Before anyone asks, yes he was wearing a cowboy hat.. ;) Have I just been too quick to respawn from unconsciousness? Or is this something new to the recent builds?

    Pretty game is pretty.

Surprised nobody has linked this gallery yet.. http://imgur.com/a/C0HiU ..which is the game running at 4k resolution! This pic is not 4k, but still damned nice. Check the rest of the gallery for some really detailed images. Nothing to do with me but the lad lists his specs as: CaseLabs TH10 + Pedestal, MSI Big Bang XPower II X79,Intel Core i7 3930k 3.8GHz 12MB @ 4.8GHz, Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB 2400MHz CL11 @ 2495MHz 11-13-11-26, 3x EVGA GTX 780 Classified ACX 3GB @ 1305/7812, 2x Corsair Force GT 120GB @ Raid-0, 2x Western Digital Red 3TB @ Raid-0, Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty PCI-E, 2x Corsair AX1200. Yes you read it right 3x780 on a i7. There is a pic of his rig setup somewhere, it looks like something from a SciFi film set.

Have you/have you not seen a hacker?

This ^^ Now compare that to the mod and, fuck me was there hacks. Hacks upon hacks upon hacks. I should point out I primarily play on experimental servers these days, so I'm guessing there are less hackers on those than on stable SA servers.
  5. I think the balance needs to be struck regarding players who are geared up versus bambis. I agree with you that once you have some level of protection, an axe for example, then no zombie should cause you a problem and even packs of 10 or so it would still be manageable as they are now. However if you are a fresh spawn it could be a bugger of a steep curve in regard to survival. I think it would be enjoyable just a difficult one to balance. That said when the mod first made a breakthrough and there were stories of the average life spans being something like 10 minutes, that was half of the challenge!

Will there ever be a way to walk (more) silently?

Sorry for stating the obvious here but if it was the night time they won't be able to see you. I walked past zombies at night with needing to sneak at all.
  7. In general, and if you want to avoid them, just run away or go up stairs - although with that latter one they can climb some stairs, I have found this out the hard way by taunting them half way up the stairs then they ran up about 5 or 6 and swiped me! If I'm in a particularly belligerent mood I'll give them a fist fight, which can be quite fun until it all ends in tears. However, what I would never do is log out because of a zombie. In fact I can't think of anything that would make me log out. (Edit: Sorry, just thought of something, when the hackers would take over a mod server and start randomly bombing areas and killing people from the console, that had me logging out)

Will there ever be a way to walk (more) silently?

I've got no scientific proof of this, but I have slow walked around buildings and guys on other floors haven't heard me in comparison to walking normally. The one that really freaks me out is the tiled floor in one of the town buildings that will tend to have shelves and washing machines in it, the footsteps sound ridiculously loud in comparison even when slow walking. In general I always thought the intention was to have the sound generated based on the surface, the speed but also the footwear however I think that only really comes into play once they have redone the sound system, which I think is some way off yet. It would leave it open to the nice idea of taking off your shoes in order to creep around inside buildings but then needing to put them back on in order to run about on the road (if not then a detrimental effect of either pain/stamina or speed).

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

Visited it, several times. Most recently on my way to the Ozora festival in Hungary.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

I like you Matej! Oh, and I love Slovakia too! Tell you what would be a lovely addition would be the ability to shoot the cowboy hat off the head? Just think of the fun you could have with that! You should visit, it's lovely and in part quite visually similar to Chernarus. Bratislava is a lovely old town that sits on the Danube with classic old European architecture while the mountains to the North are really scenic.
  11. Unless it is absolutely necessary (for example in a cramped corridor) I never use a ranged weapon on a zombie - fire axe for the win; satisfying and quiet. However the big problem is that you can't judge a headshot with an axe. Looking much further down the line, dismemberment would be a great addition. The idea that the zombie would keep chasing you while you hack bits off would be quite fun, leaving the comedic element of having a chopped in half zombie slowly slithering it's way to you until you finally finish them off with a headshot.

    Another ladder hate post

I've heard that the game can be buggy when you climb a ladder with a weapon, but I've never had that problem. I approach (not to close) wait for the arrow to appear, mouse wheel to get the action, click F and I'll start climbing. Perhaps I am doing it differently than everyone else... *shrug* I am saying this now, of course you know what will happen next time I'm near a ladder... ;)

Personality Poll (Try to be Honest)

I think there is more fun to be had following and observing. Even more fun is to fuck with people that way. Now notes can be written I'll sometimes carry a default one that says something like "It was really daft to stop and read this note you now have 3 people with their sights trained on you. Do not move, do not try and run, just put your hands up and we will not shoot you", then leave it outside on the road of a building that you can see people are either heading towards or are inside and searching (the hospital is a good one to do this with as most people tend to enter/exit the same place). If I have time I'll leave an unloaded weapon or a tin of beans next to the note as a bit of bait. I don't shoot them, btw, I just like to fuck with people (in a funny way), and there is always a good chance you'll get caught (half the rush in itself) or that the person completely ignores the note, but see when it works, it's an absolute joy seeing them stop, read the note then stand there for a few seconds deciding what to do next.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

Which was sort of the point I was making. Of the people that have been shooting at me, the vast majority have been wearing cowboy hats. That's made me nervous as it's clear those wearing them are more likely to try and kill me than not. I don't KoS as a rule, in fact I'd rather observe and avoid, after all you never know what the outcome will be and even at the most basic level it's a waste of ammo if that person isn't troubling you.

    Another ladder hate post

Interaction with ladders will be improved somewhere down the line, however I've never died from using a ladder, ever. Not in the mod, not in the SA. Either I am very lucky or I'm just careful. If I can manage to avoid death then I don't see why others can't.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

I think you'll find it not just socially acceptable, but also very stylish. :D On a serious note, have you read anything about Sapeurs btw? A very interesting subculture and made all the more mental considering the level of deprivation and poverty these people live amongst.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

If we are going African subcultures, I see your Botswana metal and raise you the Congolese sapeur: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Skomorokh/Sapeurs Edit: You will note that not only do these men rock a style completely at odds to their surroundings, but there is not a cowboy hat to be seen.. ;)

    Small protector case

Are barns back on your list as they are loot-tastic now, after months of being empty teases. The house with the light blue trim windows, but not the log cabin style abutment are food palaces now. As for the OP and the protector cases, I've only ever found them on the bodies of corpses (corpses wearing cowboy hats, of course.. ;))

    Dynamic first person?

Do I need to add in a caveat to point out my comments are on a "as and when" basis? Surely I don't... do I?

    Dynamic first person?

I've been saying for ages that more immersion is needed for hardcore servers. Helmets and masks should reduce visibility when worn. With helmets the range of movement should also be reduced. Sunglasses should be effective for sun glare, but on the flip side would need to be removed at dusk/night time and perhaps when over cast. Rain should effect bike helmets and sunglasses causing raindrops to form, and in the case of bike helmets the possibility they would steam up.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

Hardly, if you can rock that look then you do it. It's a hard gig to pull off though, and as I say if you can manage it I know where you can drink for free.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

I know quite a few Berlin "specialist" clubs that you would get free entry at the door and quite a few drinks bought for you should you turn up dressed like that.. ;)

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

Well to be a pedant "personal statistics" do prove something, they prove that more people with cowboy hats have been taking pot shots at me. However they are subjective rather than objective, hence (as I say) the thread.

Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

I don't wear cammo as such, I do tend to wear clothes than blend in though. Hunter backpack, yes, orange Mountain backpack no. Green helmet, yes, bright blue safety helmet, no. Is there a cammo cowboy hat? I've seen one in real life, but not in game. Oooh, bingo, that is generally a good rule of thumb, although that said I see less and less clown masks.
