Not all servers are perpetually summer. You are entitled to your opinion, but I do question your reasoning behind it. Essentially you are saying you will never encounter the imbalance problem but you are happy for it to exist for others. Still, as I say, you are entitled to your opinion and I respect your vote.

It's the old hipster argument. When something is niche the small crowd involved tend to have an emotional investment in it. When it goes mainstream you will gain a larger audience which will not have this emotional investment and so won't give a shit. Sadly the CoD kiddies are now part of our world, c'et la vie, and ultimately they have paid their money and have just as much right to play the game as anyone else. There is no point in getting all snobbish about it, or their game style. What we need to remember is that those who have spent time learning and loving DayZ have a far greater advantage over those who play casually just for the KoS lulz. We know the best angles to attack from, we know the map, we know the terrain, we know the way the weapons react, all these things have taken time to learn so we should use them.

Personally I think these are two separate issues and should be dealt with separately. I believe it's providing a false dichotomy to say they should be implemented to stop people turning up the gamma. You would hope that if they are implemented they should be balanced like this, however look at how long a battery lasts in a torch. I don't think I have ever had a battery run out on me.

Do they work, and if so what on? I've had hunter pants, raincoat, camo vest and hunter backpack all have had differing states of condition yet trying to apply the sewing kit I've been given the message that it can't repair them. This is on the experimental servers, btw.

If you had read my post it would have reflected pretty much what you are saying, just adding in the reasoning behind that.

Obviously this is all based on what is available to you. If you have full pockets and there is some night loot and a pick child's backpack are you going to leave the backpack and extra gear even if taking it makes you stick out like a sore thumb? Of course not. However in general, it all comes down to capacity, condition and colour. I don't have any particular preferences say between summer and winter combats but I will try and match the environment around me. That said, I tend to use a hunter pack more than a mountain one unless I can find a green mountain one. I wear a helmet not for fashion, but for protection, and again if given the choice it will be a less conspicuous colour.

And on the flip side, when NV is implemented and you don't have any you'll just not play night servers. Personally I think having NV implemented ruins the game. It's not like another weapon. At night the difference between having it and not having it is, well (and forgive me for this) like the difference between night and day. It's just too great an advantage/disadvantage.

I love the modding community, but there is a time and place for them. Deep in the entrails of an Alpha is not that time, nor that place.

Since they've been introduced everyone that has tried to KoS me has been wearing one - I'm currently on a 5-0 streak though as wearing a cowboy hat also seems to make you somewhat retarded with your aim but that is by the by - which had lead me to be ultra suspicious about players wearing them to the point of me KoS (which paradoxically disproves my point as I am not wearing one, but let's not get caught up in a self referencing conundrum). What's more I'm playing UK servers so it's not even the issue that it's socially acceptable to wear them (trust me, in the EU it's definitely not socially acceptable to be seen wearing a cowboy hat!). So the question here is have you met a nice cowboy hat wearing player? Bonus points for any that were not American.

Pro tip: never put anything on the floor unless it is on the same level as the ground.

If you follow the threads on here then it's clear he had just had a call from the hospital to say a family member had taken ill, hence why he was AFK. Seriously I wouldn't feel bad about this at all. If I am a bambi and I find some way of a big gear up in one go I'd take it without thinking twice.

Exactly, I don't care where anyone who is shooting at me is from, all I notice is that most seem to be wearing cowboy hats. I'm not suggesting they are American, I'm suggesting I am now more likely to KoS a cowboy hat wearing player.

With the introduction of cowboy hats, it seems only sensible that hats like this shouldn't be glued to the head like they are now. Wind, running and rushing through bushes should all have the ability to knock hats off players heads. You should also be able to shoot hats off the heads of people. As they are just now, the hats seem really false, as if attached like a Lego hat.

I simply don't believe that people have. The bugs, the hoppers, the ghosters and the hackers would have seen those characters dead. Let's not forget that characters were all completely wiped when one of the patches was released.

I'll be honest with you, after a zombie apocalypse there is a hierarchy of items I would be willing to fight, and ultimately kill, for. Clearly things like weapons, food and clothing along with protecting friends and loved ones would top the list, but not far off that would be coffee beans. Once the world goes to shit they will be more valuable than money!

My microphone is broken just now and I've made no attempt to get a new one (I only ever use it for DayZ, tbh) so I'm playing solo just now and people I meet I tell them I have no mic if they ask to team up and decline the offer. The one thing I would say though is that unless you are recording/broadcasting your stream some of the awesomeness that can happen in DayZ can end up being like that scene in Inception when they are all under and Yusuf is driving the van and it does a roll only to land the right way up, he turns to everyone saying, "Haha! did you see that..?"

Sorry guys, I should have said that in terms of actual gameplay it doesn't add much, but in terms of immersion I think it offers quite a few benefits. I think we all agree that having a shot knock the hat off the head would be good, hats don't provide any protection other than rain. When grenades get added I like the idea that close explosions could also knock the hat off. I reckon it could be a bit of a bugger to implement, of course, so certainly not a priority.

If that's aimed at me, then I'm not generalising, it's based on the experiences I have had since the hats have been included into the game. If it's meant for other posters, then carry on..
