Yeah I spotted (on Reddit) that the campfires were rooked. My reluctance in switching to Experimental is twofold to be honest, as just now Steam has taken a huff and stopped running the experimental .exe with the classic "Failed to Start Game (Missing Executable)" error. The stable works, the experimental doesn't. I've reinstalled both branches twice, and even put the current install into a new steam repository but it still complains. I've raised a support thread on Steam support but they keep closing it and claiming it's Bohemia's fault along with the text, "la-la-la our fingers are in our ears we cannot hear you", and I keep reopening the bug report and explaining what a shite job they are doing. The only solution I had in the past with this particular problem was with Far Cry 2 and the only resolution was to completely delete all Steam content and reinstall it. As I have 100's of Gbs of Steam games now there is not a single fucking chance that is happening now, so it's Stable for me just now. Jinkies, that escalated quickly from noting campfires were buggered to bitching about Steam's customer support.

I've had a look at the unofficial change log for .53 and I think I'll stay on stable for now to be honest. I can't imagine the animal AI is such a big change that it warrants the switch - especially if the update is going to be a "bit touchy".

Please don't duck with the current 'Hardcore' mode.

How many clans have you played with? From experience anyone that can't get into a game (normally a full or locked server) tends to get relentlessly mocked on TS until they quit rage and go play something else. -
The most frequent places I have found the scopes spawning have been in what the Wiki calls the Peach House... On the shelves of the room that isn't the bedroom or kitchen. And in what many call the restaurant which bizarrely I can't find a proper screen shot of (but everyone knows the building I am talking about).

Beans from me OP. I liked the death map from the original mod. I'd also love to have a personal tracker to see where you've been on the map. Obviously the problem with that is security so that it can't be accessed in real time. As for the map, I have added it to the satellite image. Interesting to see how many people died out at sea. (open this in a new tab as it's quite a large image).

Frame rate doesn't get it's own entry? Hmm...

Exactly. All that would happen is that hoppers, hackers and well equipped bandits would sit around the coast shooting bambis knowing that they can keep the server empty for them to loot all the gear. -
It was intended to be more of a throwaway comment. "why so serious" .. ;)

You would hope so, although the "obviously" is not necessarily related to their "obviously" being a dedicated hardcore mode for those of us who prefer to play a FPS than Tomb Raider. -
I'm not. However.. the problem with online games is that when you lose a life the option "hacker" is a possibility. In reality it's a tiny percentage of actual deaths but it is a percentage, something you wouldn't think of with an offline game when you die in a strange or unexpected manner. Add in the fact the game is in Alpha and that insta-death are a known bug (I was once killed by running across a field in an empty server) then it's the explicit nature of your claim that I was poking fun of. I still like the cow pic, btw.

Anyone who knows my posts will know my opinion on 3PP mode so there is probably no need in repeating them. However I will admit that I was elated then utterly disappointed when I first read about hardcore mode only to find it was limited to a death timer. I long for a proper hardcore mode where you only play 1PP, the aiming dot is removed, all broken/fractured legs reduce you to a crawl (unlike the crazy idea you can still run with one), all broken/fractured arms stops you from holding/using a two handed weapon/tool, loot is far more scarce, etc, etc... I mean the death timer is all fine and well, but don't call it hardcore mode, that is a massive cock tease to those of us who actually want a properly dedicated hardcore mode. -
IMPOSSIBRU! So if it was an invisible hacker how do you know he used an axe, and by all probability if they were a hacker they wouldn't be using an axe. Other than that, I like the picture of a cow in the street.

Like the engine the IDE they are using is 2 years out of date... *zing*

How do you set up your hotbar, and why?
rickyriot replied to IReadTheAgreement's topic in General Discussion
1) melee (axe) 2) primary 3) sidearm 4) scope I don't tend to set the rest. -
I don't use a ghillie but I do swap between a raincoat and a t-shirt depending on the weather and temperature. When it's dry and sunny and I'm running about I almost always have to swap to a t-shirt.

If anything I think there is too much loot and I spend my time in fairly popular 1PP persistence servers. Food is everywhere, SKS's litter the map and even ammo is fairly plentiful. All depends on what you are looking for I suppose. Some of us don't really care about getting the highest military spec and so don't feel the game is letting me down when these things are immediately scavenged by hopping CoD kiddies.

Persistence, dropping of items/maintenance
rickyriot replied to Re-Patch's topic in General Discussion
As mentioned already persistence is sometimes just a little odd. One example of this was a fire I was cooking stuff on that I "lost" while the server went through a reboot. When I logged back in the fire visually looked like it had wood in it, but looking in it's inventory it showed nothing but an empty fireplace. However using matches to reignite the fire suddenly everything returned, including my half cooked meat. So while those actions are specific to a fire, don't automatically believe what the inventory tells you. -
To the hoarding server hopper I killed near barracks
rickyriot replied to xhiril's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I'd like this sort of stacking to be removed from the game. Not that it's not possible in real life (to an extent) but I'd like to see clothes emptied, rolled up then either placed in the inventory (taking up only one or two spaces) or attached to the outside of the bag. Not sure if it would stop hoarding but I do feel the idea of storing content in your inventory that takes up less space than if you had stored it separately is wrong. -
Well this is the thing. Some claim they have had tents that remained after a maintenance update while some have reported it gone.
-
Anyone who leaves gear in a tent and then leaves that tent in such a well traversed area as the castle deserves to have that gear taken. I've not discovered many tents, although I have come across a few. Those I find in really poorly hidden areas then I have no conscience in raiding, those which are hidden I'll be a lot more generous when it comes to looting it.

rickyriot replied to xhiril's topic in General Discussion
How did they carry all that? You do wonder about the enjoyment people get from just looting, and looting, and looting.... I appreciate there is a limit on what is possible within the game but just looting must get really boring after a while. -
No offence OP but you represent all that is wrong with those playing Alpha. We are early access to test the game, not to have a pissing contest on how much equipment we can loot. It's fair enough to ask about character wipes, but your logic being that it would "waste" 10 hours of gameplay, those 10 hours should be used helping the devs make the game better so wouldn't be "wasted".
