  1. Fails to actually understand the thread. /facepalm/
  2. Experimental server on Hardcore. Possibly the least likely place to find them. Perhaps an exploit from the latest build, meh.. who knows. As I say most people accept hackers, that's the way online gaming has been since I first started on Quake 1 in the late 90's, and normally it wouldn't really be an issue as you could just log out, but with the way DayZ deals with a persistent world and the combat logging timer it backs you into a corner. The question is how do other people deal with it? Any clever ideas?

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

Have some lame motivational poster rubbish..
  4. The way he appeared through the wall on the second floor, and the laughter before the first attack, it's clear it was some form of hack. I'm not shouting "OMGZ hAXzorss!!!11" because there is far less of them on SA than the mod, and I'm happy enough to just swap server. The problem is the combat logging timeout that leaves you vulnerable.
  5. If you are looting and find weapons that you can't carry it's only logic to take it somewhere where it won't be found. Think how stupid you'd feel if a person was to kill you with the weapon you left lying around; or the "Pulp Fiction Butch/Vince conundrum". I don't however remove general low level loot. I want people to come along the same route I have taken without knowing I have been there before. That includes shutting doors even if I found them open. I've tracked people purely based on the doors that were left open.

To be fair, I've had more value for money out of the SA than I have out of many other "AAA" games with higher price tags.

Just putting a hypothetical out there, so bare with me... So you develop a mod for a specific game engine. You then get a chance to make a standalone, based on the same engine, albeit an improved version, yet found what you really wanted to do meant having to make more and more changes to that engine that you realise the problem is the engine itself. What next? Clearly you look at developing a new game engine that suits the game. You are no longer trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Now in this theory what do you do if the company you work for is the company responsible for that game engine rather than just licencing it? You can't swap the engine out, and is that company going to spend money on developing two game engines? One for their main product and the other for the mod that has become popular? In short? I feel that DayZ is probably not going to be the game Rocket actually wants it to be because of the limitations of the engine and the ideal solution would be to start from scratch. You can't start from scratch while still working for another company. Expect a DayZ "inspired" game using an engine built for purpose and funded using kickstarter and for that project to start in about 18 months time.

    18 Holes of DayZ

It is a little surprising there isn't a single golf course in the whole "country". Football pitches have been added.
  9. I would prefer there being absolutely no military gear. For me, several weeks after a zombie apocalypse to find a pristine M4 and a full clip of ammo just lying on a bunk is preposterous. The odd buggered shotgun in a farmyard shed? Yes. Full military gear lying about, no chance. Of course that would shit on the cornflakes of a lot of players on here who can't shake off the military simulator tag from DayZ.

    Bow and arrow´s

There are berries, pond water that isn't infected and you can shelter under trees in the rain, so you can already do this.

    Bow and arrow´s

Snowball's chance in hell, imo. They'll make it to SA some time, but certainly not soon. Whether they will make an appearance before animals do is a different debate.

    STOP

Have my beans it was the first thing I thought of..

    Jump when hearing Gunshots?

Heh... well it was a touch on the verbal rambling side, but the point was made, the gunshots you hear are the good ones - they are the ones which save your life! ;)

Ambient Noise increases with amount of Players?

Just to confirm, this is a separate issue to the ambient sounds that animals trigger? For example, you can hear gates, cans opening and even zombie groans and it's from the rabbits running about the place.

1st person only or 3rd person?

Lamecore players also have stupider pets, I forgot to mention that. They also tend to use Internet Explorer to view webpages, and will drink extremely weak milky tea and coffee as anything with a strong taste scares them.

1st person only or 3rd person?

The problem here is that people who play hardcore are trying to use words like "skill" and "too easy" to shame the lamecore players. That won't work, you need to be more honest with them. Lamecore players technically have smaller penises than hardcore players. Lamecore players also have uglier wives and go on to have uglier and stupider children. They also die earlier in life. It's those sorts of facts that need to be told.

    DayZ SA Quality Upgrade

I'm not sure if you have added enough tags to this thread, could do with a few more. Oh, and check out the tech section of the forum.. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/56-technologyprogramming/

    Truly Amazed!

All down to the laws of averages really. If you run into friendlies that aren't going to shoot you then they aren't going to shoot you if you just carry on running. Normally all you'll get is "lol, man, stop" or "run Forrest" types of comments. However you run into a bunch of non-friendlies who are determined to fuck your shit up, they'll do that whether you stop or not. In my mind you'll have a better chance the further you are away from them when they open up.

    Truly Amazed!

And on the flip side, if someone orders me to stop, I don't stop. If I die it's my own stupidity for running into them unprepared, however if you miss your first shot you better hope I don't have better luck. I will sleep a lot better being taken out than taken prisoner.. ;)
  20. Wait... what.. ..did you just link a reddit thread that links this forum? Isn't that the same as typing in the word recursion into a google search.. ;)

WOAH.. Any1 else read this article? Just found it

Yet there is no google hit for any of the text that returns this "interview"? Seems legit. I particularly like the term "random developers". Doubly legit. Even then who cares, I've got my £20 worth out of SA, and some, and yet they still continue to release updates. It's all win win from my point of view.

    Truly Amazed!

I wouldn't have pulled out my weapon, but I wouldn't have stopped for you either. I never stop when I am at a disadvantage.

    The SOLUTION for KOS!

^^ This. There is always someone who is a better player than you. Vigilance, intelligence and experience are the main weapons you carry. Things that fire bullets are secondary defence.

    The SOLUTION for KOS!

So you are doing this for us? You are literally saying you died for us? All hail DayZ Jesus. Oh, Lord, lead us to Beta redemption.
  25. I've been playing this game from the day it appeared on Steam (1 hour after it's actual download release) and do you know how many times I've broken my leg? Twice. Both times down to my own stupidity. Once falling off the stairs in the barn (I was careless) and once trying to walk along a ledge that clearly wasn't a ledge. All I can say is that those who keep on breaking their legs or dying from using a ladder must be very poor players indeed, or at least failing that careless and lazy. So, OP, which are you? A poor player or careless and lazy? It's going to be one of the options.
