Stealth kills; strangulation, suffocation or hunting knife.

You know, it's disconcerting the way you describe that. Almost as if YOU HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE! -
Stealth kills; strangulation, suffocation or hunting knife.
rickyriot replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
An axe is fine, and certainly a solution for zombies, but it's all a bit Bateman don't think? No finesse, no style. I'm loving the piano wire idea, especially if it managed to stop people using VOIP (although obviously TS would still be an issue). Just think of it though, you creep up behind someone, get the hunting knife out, hand over the mouth, blade between the ribs and you're just left going.. "shhh... shhh... shhhh.. that's right, you sleep now". :D -
All depends on how much of the map you have covered. If you still have parts of it to tick off, then go exploring. The bottom line is don't go looking for other players, they'll find you.. ;)

For me MSI Afterburner and for monitoring CPU/GPU usage and load I will use an app called Open Hardware Monitor. Afterburner can do the latter to an extent but not to a granular level. In terms of Fraps I have found a small FPS drop even when it's not recording (and a huge one when it is).

Sun is Blue now - is this Cryis 3 or what?
rickyriot replied to Lordocalot's topic in General Discussion
I really want to take you to task on this, however I don't want to be overly harsh. There is not enough matter for our Sun to become a black hole. There is also not enough matter for the Sun to go nova either although I realise you weren't making that point. For the Sun to become a black hole that was sustainable it would have a massive (no pun intended) affect on our solar system. There is only one known black hole in our galaxy (the Milky Way) and that is at the centre. It's mass is directly proportional to the mass of of the galaxy. Bigger galaxies, more massive black holes in the centre of them. You are getting a little confused with the colour of the sky and the "colour" of sunlight. Sunlight is white, which is why you can put a prism up to it and get the full spectrum. The sky, however is blue due to the angle in which the light hits the Earth and refracts. -

Just a little bump in case people missed this. Not looking for any sorts of replies just wanting to keep people safe from what seems like a bug. -
Do you play Experimental version or Regular, and why?
rickyriot replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
Experimental, because I am a better person than those who don't. ^_^ I also play hardcore experimental, which makes me twice as bettererer than others. B) -
The most underrated City on the Map

You should have tried the double bluff. "Svetlo is shit, don't go there." That would have been a honey trap.. ;) It's new and fairly easy to get to from spawn. I'm hoping they sit a town up to the NW pass which can only be reached by going through a narrow passageway to the SE. -
I apologise if my comments were taken in any way seriously. I'll add more sarcasm in the future. ;) Personally I don't want any military weapons in the game, but that's a minority view.
-
btw, my 2 cents worth. You can't limit loot based on time. Will weapons of all types and ammo be less common in the future? Yes, they will. Just now it really is a sandbox. You don't create an experimental build adjusting the bullet trajectory, for example, then make the weapons difficult to find in order to test them it out.

Mongerer?

Rarer? As in uncooked.

As the old adage goes "Guns don't kill people, people kill people", so with that in mind I think the solution is to remove the players from the game, not the guns.

It's Russian for "please wait here for sniper".

The most underrated City on the Map
rickyriot replied to Gandalf the White (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I presume you are familiar with the film (based on the true story) of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alive_(1993_film), that's how that flight to Peru would end, and where would your trust be then? A man cannot live on beard alone! -

Gentlemen, I sport an absolutely glorious beard, but you certainly wouldn't trust me. The prosecution rests, m'lud.. ;) -
The most underrated City on the Map
rickyriot replied to Gandalf the White (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Ah, so now we see the plot twist. The OP is a lame sniping camper who is getting bored waiting. Makes sense, should have expected it from a man with a beard. Never trust people with beards. -
The most underrated City on the Map

Jesus, now where are all us hipsters going to go if we end up with vanilla hordes making their way North... <_< When I invent a time machine to go back a month, I'll do just that. -
Out of interest what was the official reason, if any, for DayZ using RV3 rather than 4 (which powers Arma3). For example we know that the dev team have been working on dynamic lighting to fit into DayZ yet dynamic lighting is part of RV4 "as default". Not complaining, just wondering if there was ever an official line on the engine chosen?

I think the rain does an excellent job at hiding your salty tears, OP.

So, just a little warning about possible shipwreck death.
rickyriot replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
In the same manner? As if caught in a slide mechanism? Thing is, the gangway is metal, it was raining, I was fully kitted out (so would have some weight) so I can understand the physics from interacting at that point. However the incline is so slight, so subtle it shouldn't drag you to your death. I'm guessing it's a bug, and I'm not bitching, more warning others out there. -

rickyriot replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
I can slide forward when changing weapons sometimes, and I've seen dead bodies slide (although not in recent builds). Just to clarify I was simply slow walking towards the edge, not changing weapon, not vaulting and the "slide mechanism" took hold a meter or so before the edge. I had enough time to realise what was happening and be unable to walk out of it before it dropped me off the edge. -
I'm going to up my game this time... (function createPointlessThread() { createPointlessThread();})();

I don't use any glitches, and will accept that they are an unfortunate part of the game in the cities, however am I fuck going anywhere near the NEAF while the glitch under the hangar is still available. It's just too much of a gamble.

Ah, but remember, ragdoll physics are coming our way. Picture this... Zombie runs towards you, you have no ammo, just a rifle with a bayonet. All you can do is stick him, right in the guts and it gets stuck. He's still moaning and swiping away with his hands and all you can do is shake the rifle back an forth as the zombie ragdolls on the bayonet. Ok, it's not going to happen like that, but think of the fun you'd have if it did! :D
