  1. When I get some "decent" frame rates. I love SA, and I love/loved the mod, but both are utter ass when it comes to rendering. I have a PC that happily shifts Watchdogs around (ok, not at full pelt, but still) yet DayZ struggles to get near the 30 FPS marker anywhere close to a town. That sort of frame rate is not conducive with serious gameplay, more just exploring and generally fucking about. However, once the client/server architecture renders me a solid 40+ fps anywhere in the world, THAT is when I will consider the game a game and not just an Alpha. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater, far from it, and I do think that the devs will get their act together regarding the frame rates although it'll be a while yet.
  2. I was on the server the other day (Hardcore, of course) and someone playing as a woman character had been shot but a bug had set her "ow" sound into loop. It was distracting yet slightly arousing. She just kept running around going "ow, ow, ow, ow".
  3. I certainly have no problem with Lamecore players enjoying their comfort zone, after all it takes a while to get used to a game so why not play it in easy mode until you build up the mad skills that you need to take on a Hardcore server? We all had to start somewhere. Just because those who play Lamecore are more likely to suck a bag of dicks shouldn't mean they should be looked upon differently. I am all for tolerance of those who may be a lesser gamer. In fact I welcome newbies like this to the gaming world and hope that they don't find the controls too difficult in the beginning.

Need to talk to a DEV. Or someone like that.

The mischievous amongst us may suggest that the poor grasp of grammar combined with an inability to detect subtle humour is "stereotyping" [sic]. Not that I'm saying that, of course. No, no... he wanted a DEV not a dev.

Got to love the self inflated opinion of Americans. ;) I MUST SPEAK TO SOMEONE IMPORTANT!
  6. Perfect example of Lamecore player. A kid pretending to play grown up games.

Why we cant take off our vest ?

    Boobs
  8. Crashing to desktop is a big one. The frame rate has massively dropped for me too. The previous stable branch (.44) had pretty decent FPS, well decent for DayZ at least. The .45 branch on the experimental servers had taken a hit but not massively so, however the move of .45 to the stable sees me pushing (at best) 15 FPS in Svetlo.
  9. You need to ask? Really? I'm sure you can't be that daft. However just in case you are the term you are looking for is "line of sight".
  10. rickyriot

    Feature or Bug?

    That is a positive.
  11. This... makes... no... sense. Line of sight is an absolute, it's either there or not. If you look and expose yourself, you expose yourself, it's implicit. It doesn't matter if it's a little bit or not. The difference between Hardcore and Lamecore is simple. In one you need to expose yourself to gain that line of sight - the classic risk/reward scenario - while in the other you don't need to at all, instead you already have that advantage without needing to expose yourself - in essence a reward/reward scenario. To be fair I do think that the FPS viewpoint needs work. The stances need to be amended to work with the scenery (and perhaps half stances included in the game) and the interaction with walls and ledges need improving so that you can peek over them, and the interaction with windows could be improved so that the advantage from using them increased (as it would be in real life), but ultimately when you remove the risk element completely from the surrounding environment, while introducing an uneven playing field (in some cases in Lamecore players can see you when you can't see them, even beyond line of sight) then you are removing a huge element from the game. As a nice analogy those who play Lamecore are like those who drive automatic transmission cars, they just like some of the work done for them, and anyone who drives cars will know that it's an infinitely more enjoyable experience driving a manual transmission.

    Free 3D printed DayZ logo!

Nice enough, I suppose. Did you 3D print the potato camera you took the pictures with as well?

    Weather in Chernarus

I can't tell you why, but it's noticeable that when weather was brought in, all clothes items had a 'dampness indicator' (insert your own joke here), yet that has now been replaced by the overall one for the character. Personally I preferred it when it was specific to the clothing. After all if it's raining and you are wearing a raincoat you wouldn't maybe expect your other clothing to get wet however it would make a difference to what footwear you were wearing. After all you run about in the rain, or through grass in trainers you should get wet feet while with military boots and wellies you shouldn't. I do wonder how much the dampness will affect your character other than just health. After all if you are carrying matches in the pocket of a hoodie in the rain you could expect them to get damp, and thus not work, while having them within a jacket pocket (whether a raincoat, puffa or bikers jacket you could would expect maybe not). This also leaves the issue of the backpack. You wouldn't expect a raincoat to cover your backpack, but you certainly get rain ponchos that will cover not only yourself but your backpack. If these existed they'd probably need to be in a different slot to your upper torso clothing as with a poncho you wouldn't expect any pockets although you would expect it to keep everything you wear (apart from your footwear) dry. Would a rain poncho also have a hood? Probably.

    Weather in Chernarus

There is so much that could be done with the weather from having wind noises to creating granular levels of conditions (ie: rains in the West of the map and you can "follow" that weather front so that it rains in the East maybe 20 minutes later) to dramatic climactic changes in temperature (day warm, night cold - and resulting affects because of it).
  15. Oooft the tears are strong with this one.
  16. The poor old deer stands.. :( ..one time 'go-to-places' in the mod, now relegated to general landscape annoyances. Let's hope the devs do something with them. They currently don't spawn anything and the viewpoint/stances you get in Hardcore makes them pretty useless in terms of strategy positions.

The Future of Hardcore vs. Regular?

Along with the differences in views available, there is also a slight whiff of queef that comes from lamecore servers.

No one cares about the new city?

Two words "frame" and "rate". The new town is nice, I like it. Finally we have a proper town with lots of multi-story buildings that can be entered all overlooking a central square. If the devs could fix the interaction with the windows it could become an epic place to have a battle. However, it's badly optimised and my PC baulks at the thought of rendering it.
  19. Yeah, but we know that nobody playing Hardcore fires from the hip, that's for lamecore console casual gamers.

    Dayz on Sale

Don't understand those complaining that DayZ is in the sale. For a start it's only a little discount, and secondly if you paid "full price" for it you've had the fun of playing it since then and not needed to wait 6 months for Steam to knock a couple of quid off. Plus, if a reduced price convinces more people to take the plunge then all the better as it means more people playing the game.

    Dayz on Sale

It's been on sale before, not by much. Tell you what though, £3.74 for FarCry3 is a cracking deal. OK, just about everyone has played it, but it's a doozy of a game for that price.

Did anyone notice how binoculars are 3x3 now

I've yet to find binoculars. Not sure if they are ultra rare or raped by all the server hoppers, but it would be nice to even see some let alone have them in my inventory.
  23. Let's go through this... ☑ Long rambling post☑ Complaints about an unfinished game being unfinished☑ Sweeping generalisations about features and their implementation☑ Questioning the veracity of a possible finished product☑ Whining in general☐ Demanding money back.Well I think that's everything covered. It was close OP, you nearly had a full house. Next time though..
  24. Typical "spray and pray" lamecore merchant banter, imo. Hacks providing "see through" textures for walls and trees are better for "looking around", are you advocating them too?
