I don't get why you'd play this over the mod?

Signed up just to complain about the SA? I'm surprised you lot didn't spot the obvious trolling going on.

    Gutting Animals

There is a glitch in the current build with gutting, keep on trying and it should work. (edit: not with a bayonet though)

    Compass always wrong?

Some claim that taking it in and out of the inventory fixes the problem, while others claim that only a reboot resolves the issue. Me? I will say two words; "clouds", "stars". Those two things are more reliable than the compass just now and to be honest is the way I navigate. Don't get me wrong I wish the weather was dynamic so that the wind could blow from any direction and that rain is contextual based on the location of the clouds, but currently they are always moving West to East. Always.

    How's The Game Lookin'?

So that's a, "no, I can't find these promises"? Anyway, look, you are frustrated at the way the game is coming along - and you are entitled to that view - but the simple answer is don't play it. Even putting aside what we know publicly about the development process it's clear nobody is sitting around taking the piss, and it's not as if the company hasn't said on many an occasion that you shouldn't consider the Alpha process anything more than testing and a bit of fun.
  5. The only reason people play a sniper role is because sniping is so ridiculously easy. Point and click. You are as well playing minefield, it at least makes you think a little. </flamebait>
  6. That said, medical tests have proven that those who play as a sniper have smaller testicles, except the women of course.

    How's The Game Lookin'?

Really? That's the way you want to play it? The game has clearly not had the sort of development team nor the resources nor the same roadmap for 2 years, trying to claim it has is just a bit daft. Link those "promises".

Super Low Graphics ; Super Low FPS

Certainly from experience, although I use AMD so this might differ with Intel, the game doesn't really like multicore chips and as a very rough rule of thumb it's seeing that more as a single CPU ~2.4 rather than 4 all doing 2.4 You could try using -exThreads and -cpuCount in your launch parameters to see if the game picks up the more power. http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2d5dmz/dayz_sa_how_to_increase_performance_even_more/ (that is not the ideal thread, just the first one I found on google)
  9. Find a computer that will run the other games you want to play, then wait for DayZ to rein itself in when it gets optimised in about 6 months time.

    Netting..... rare or common

"SHIT TON" would be the phrase I would use in reference to the number of burlap sacks I've found.

    How's The Game Lookin'?

Not really 2 years though, 18 months at most and even then the whole development process lost about 2 months of that when all the new staff was brought it.
  12. So, just so you realise where I am working from, I am an experienced PC owner and know what is going on beneath the bonnet of windows. I am also a bit of a tweaker who will happily turn on and off services/processes and overclock items just to get a decent rig running better. So with that in mind one the last things I would expect to work for me is the Razer Game Booster. http://www.razerzone.com/gb-en/cortex/game-booster Essentially all this does is turn off some services, kills some processes and sets the priority of the game to high. These are things I am doing already, yet DayZ was still running choppy with a poor FPS. It really was a last gasp test thing out of curiosity, but lo and behold not only did it add an extra 5-10 FPS, that FPS was now far more solid for me. As I say, I'm a geek and know what the app is doing and have replicated everything it's doing and yet for some reason I'm not getting the same performance boost, albeit slight. It's with much embarrassment I am recommending this, but against previous experience I am.

    Netting..... rare or common

I'll be honest I've only found it once, and it was only one item of it and it was as far away from the coast as you could probably get in a tent someone had tried to hide in the NW corner. Every time I've gone to the netting spawn points I've been empty handed, and this is on several different servers both persistent and non-persistent (although I predominantly play on the former).

    How's The Game Lookin'?

Well that's not really the case though, is it? Saying it twice doesn't make it any more true. Ultimately though, by the sounds of it, DayZ SA is simply not the game for you as you are looking for a finished product and SA is quite some way from that.

Massive Fps Drop After Stable 0.50

Hmm.. don't agree to be honest, I would say it went up after .50 but has come back down (slightly) in .52 If you had taken the time to read this forum you'd know that the rendering engine changes (and it's relevant FPS) has been discussed quite a bit and absolutely no optimisation will be done until that's put out the way. Your submission, while admirable that you are using the bug tracker, is a bit pointless as it's not a bug and a little bit of research would see that your problem is not something that will be acted upon now.
  16. Not sure if others have spotted this, but building a fire indoors warms me up in less than a minute or so, there is definitely a larger disparity between indoor fires and outdoor ones than in previous builds. My current favoured location is the upper floor of the piano house. I will close all the doors, place the fireplace next to the wardrobe and that will allow me to sit down next the fire while having a gun drawn. This provides protection in several ways. One of which is the noise made by the doors opening when someone comes in, second is the 'u bend' of the stairs which slows down the player and provides for a bottleneck where you can place your aim and finally the fire is most likely going to distract the person while you are half covered by the wardrobe if they do start firing.

    Difficult Players

I don't tend to shoot anyone if I can avoid it, but bambis who have their voip set way too low to hear and who spend all the time trying to get within swinging distance from you are a real pain in the ass.

What has been your biggest "I'm done" moment?

I wouldn't say that the zombies in the mod are actually any better than the ones in SA. Certainly it's taken some time and I wouldn't have said that a couple of months ago, but now? Meh.. much of a muchness between the two. And SA's zombies are going to get better. That inventory. Oooft. The introduction of building insides is a huge jump, imo. It really adds to the realism and immersion. Do I like them because you can gear out of them, not really I want gear extra rare, but because of the who emphasis of the game changes because of them. The DayZ mod feels like a bank holiday Sunday on the Western Isles* by the way everything is shut up. (* that's in Scotland, but as you have the avatar you do I am unsure whether I need to explain that or not)
  19. A bit of a holy grail this one. While they have been introduced in some games (BF4, Red Faction, for example) it's not been on the scale that would be required in DayZ. For those unsure what I mean by this, think of lobbing a grenade at a wall (in real life) and seeing the damage it does. Ok, it's unlikely to bring the whole house down, but it'll have some effect. I don't know how much processing power it would take to monitor all the changes to the map, it may just be a step too far for the size of map while dealing with all the rest of the environment. There is also the question of how granular you make it. Should bullets make an indent in a wall, and if so should they be persistent? However with the future inclusion of base building/barricading it would be nice to see if the devs could work a way to some level of dynamic change to the buildings.

    Grenades?

Learn from my experience, use it or lose it. Throw it at a gas station perhaps? At least you'd get a big bang for your buck.
  21. If I had a wish list it would be that they would stop glitching, there was more of them, they were much cleverer and you could have a decent melee combat with them. As the tweet I posted above shows and the roadmap states, it's going to be worked on anyway.

    Question for the forum admins:

    It was moved: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157462-easter-eggs-aliens-mysteries-official/?p=2190751
  23. I am a developer, although not a game dev however development is development, so I have a handle on the amount of work that would be needed. However its interesting that Steak and Potatoes says that there still is some level of physics in the game that could cope with dynamic damage rather than it being entirely ripped out. The main reason I mentioned it in the first place was with the upcoming introduction of barricading (or base building) which will require some level of dynamism. It would be lovely to have a true dynamic environment allowing you to, for example, make a motte and bailey but that would be just too much for the server to deal with imo.
