EDITED - PETITION: Should a sound be made when we log on and off?
KingOfTime replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
But if they wanted to pvp, they would have to join a full(ish) server....so they would log out/in somewhere safe....So I don't think your point really stands. -
Hardcore stable. Steps are marked as "sharpen" in no particular order. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198064134304/screenshots/

You dont have to hold either one, it should work in your inventory. Ive never tried actually dragging the stone onto the axe while either was in my hands. Edit: Just tried dragging stone to axe in hands, it worked just fine.
-
Drag the stone onto the axe and you will get an option to sharpen it. A pristine splitting axe can cut down a few trees before becoming worn, and maybe a couple more till it gets damaged. After it becomes damaged you can cut 1 tree down before it becomes badly damaged. One more tree will make it ruined.

EDITED - PETITION: Should a sound be made when we log on and off?

A noise is sorely needed upon logging in/out for these reasons. My 2 friends and I used to play when we all had similar schedules. One day, we were shot at at balota and took shelter in the jail. One of us watched the door, the other the windows, and the third had to run around the building like a madman to ensure that we weren't being ghosted. How is that realistic? How is that fair? Another time, we engaged someone inside a building. He was pinned down, and we were planning our next move, as we were sure he would have the door covered. Lo and behold, he ghosts behind us and wipes 2 of us. A sound on login/out is the most reasonable way to prevent exploitation of a shitty game mechanic. Players shouldnt have to continuously clear a building theyve already gone through because someone might teleport behind them. If you don't want to be killed on login, dont log out somewhere stupid. If you dont want to be killed on logging out, dont log out somewhere stupid. Those who log out while in combat, pinned down, I have no sympathy for, and the game mechanics shouldnt either. -
Yes, you can kill and eat them, and get their pelt. I've done it, but it is quite the hard shot; took me 4 mosin rounds.

Cooking steak + food poisoning help
KingOfTime replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
On a low pop server(3-5) it takes about 3mins to cook meat. On a full server, it can take 5-10 mins or even longer, in my experience. I could be wrong, but cooking times seem to be affected by the number of people in the server. -
1. Go to the woods 2. Stay in the woods 3. You're still in the woods 4. Watch people from the woods 5. Do not fire until fired upon 6. Ignore rule 5 when bandits are observed doing bandity things 7. Chance leaving the woods to find some gear 8. Spawn on the coast
-
The cow pelt should allow you to craft a fairly sizable backpack. After all, a cow is a rather large animal.
-
This has been speculated before, and even if this is all pointless, mapping the locations of animals could confirm that its pointless. I, for one, have yet to see any cows in the far north. This leads me to believe that even if the spawns are "random", they may not be completely so. For example, it may be that cows only spawn in x quadrant, or around certain cities or something. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but until it's confirmed how the animals are spawned, I think it's too early to say it's completely random.
-
Not really, I couldn't hear a damn thing.
-
Just go all the way north, there's "hundreds" of them.
-
Depends on where you live. Up here in New England there are rocks everywhere.
-
Is that how that works? I have had trouble lighting fires before, but I didnt think to go find some more rocks. I just waited for a while for the wind to calm down.
-
Adding music is a surefire way to keep people from watching your videos.
-
If it was PETA he would have killed them himself to keep them from becoming nothing but food for the zombies.
-
I didnt have a problem finding the AKM(military base outside Vybor)....but I cant find a damn axe. I want to start fires!
-
Has anyone else had an issue with cooking on a full(ish) server? I tried cooking today and after my fire burned out I gave up. Yesterday on a low pop server it worked just fine.

BIG NEWS ! submachine-gun, tents, teddy bears, and much more
KingOfTime replied to rotteck's topic in General Discussion
I am going to find a mackerel and worship it in the eklectro church. -
First off, I used the search function and could'nt find anything on this, perhaps I missed it. Okay, so we all know that weather will eventually have a big impact on how we are to play the game. My question is- will the weather be synchronised across the hive? If it isn't, I fear that servers will empty out as soon as it starts raining, just like when it gets dark, because it will interfere with the Berezino death match. I would hate to see servers emptying at the first sign of an increase in the difficulty of survival. Thoughts?

Why are there basically no 3pp:off servers - grow a pair.
KingOfTime replied to dubghall's topic in General Discussion
. This issue is about having a level playing field. 3pp inherently causes an unlevel playing field due to the exploit of peeking around corners without actually exposing yourself. 1pp prevents this by making you actually have to peak instead of safely staying in cover to observe. 1pp also actually makes the game MORE difficult than 3pp. No more safe peaking. No more observation without risk. No more camping the apartments with your head below wall level. Nothing is without risk in 1pp, while in 3pp there is no danger to observation. As I alluded to before quite a few times, I dont care if people want to play 3pp. I care about fixing 3pp so that it is no longer exploitable. Either through a repositioning of the camera, or by some iteration of the 4th wall mod. I honestly dont understand why anyone could be against fixing an obvious exploit in a game where such an advantage/disadvantage is a huge deal. The only reason I cant think of is that people are too attached to their exploiting ways to give them up. Its obvious on even a glancing look at the 3pp camera, that it is fundamentally broken. Watch any dayz youtube video. They are nothing but 3pp exploit vids. It cheapens strategy and tactics by making them useless. The only determination of who wins in a fight is who moves first, and the one that does usually loses. Heres a nice thought experiment- Imagine if zombies were given the same type of view angle.(assume pathfinding/ai is finished) Imagine the tears that would be shed on this forum because "they shouldnt be able to see me Im behind a wall!" Playing against 3pp players is actually easier. Just stay behind something, exploit the shit out of your camera, and wait for them to move. -

If your head was above the wall, then you would be exposed. Same as if you leaned around the corner. Most hardcore only players dont have a problem with the idea of 3pp, they have a problem with the way it can be exploited in game by using it to observe around corners/over walls without taking the risk of actually peeking around it as you would irl.
