1.Character progression is badly needed to help add some point in surviving, as there is none to most players. The Elektro deathmatch is proof of this, I think. 2. Any skill that improved by doing it a bunch of times is exploitable, and shouldnt be in game. 3. If skills are implemented, they should be tied to extremely rare loot that when used is consumed. -if you want to fix that car, you better fucking learn how. -you want to fly a chopper? better find that flight manual. -you want to reach out and touch someone from 800m?, well fuck, you better learn how that scope works. -want to properly draw/give/store blood without causing an infection? better find that medical text -want to start a fire without matches? find a survival text -want to clean your gun without fucking it up? better learn how The reality of the situation is that most people dont know how to do these things irl, and this is supposed to be a survival game. Whats the fun in having every respawn be a child of John Rambo and Macgyver? Without some kind of progression, and some kind of real punishment for death there is no purpose to surviving. When/if base building becomes a reality the deathmatch mentality will only get worse.-if it rhymes it cant be wrong :) I say all of this as a player that doesnt KoS, and doesnt go looking for fights. A firefight with another player should have some kind of real consequence, beyond your ticket to the coast.

I walked up on 2 separate guys both armed with m-4s and they didnt shoot me. Most people would have, but occasionally you run into people who arent dicks. I play a hero, and feed the needy, even give them guns. Some try to betray me, and they die. Your assertion that heroes arent in the woods of kamyshovo is false, as I am proof that, occasionally, the guy in the woods is hunting a bandit shooting bambis from the rocks, the beach, or the town. I dont ghost, or combat log, and never have. Ive killed ghosters, and combat loggers that were foolish enough to rejoin the server. Also, if youre not finding anything at military spawns, maybe try joining servers that arent empty, and already looted by the hoppers, a nice mid-pop server usually has plenty of loot to go around, and on the full ones most people are at the coastal deathmatch.

Find someplace "safe" and start taking shots at trees, street signs, zombies, whatever. After 10 or so shots you should have a pretty good feel for how far out things are, at least for targets under 500m.

The first time you make contact with a "bambi" who has found only a backpack, and the first thing they do is get on their knees with their hands behind their head and empty their loot onto the ground....then you realise that there are way too many assholes in this game. I am definitely a "hero", and I like playing that way. I take a sick pleasure in killing those "bandits" who dont have the balls for the elektro deathmatch, and helping those who dont have a chance to get started because every time they spawn they get a mouthful of 5.56. I have yet to be knocked out by a "bambi", though some have tried, and 1 even helped me and my buddies defend ourselves from "bandits" by picking up a mosin form one of the dead ones and returning fire. Honestly, because of the KoS mentality, being a "hero" is some of the most fun in the game for me. Plus, having a "bambi" killer respawn and start talking shit to you, then gunning him down again is just hilarious. Especially when they say shit like "fight me like a man" to try and box you...dude! you were just shooting people who couldnt shoot back, you will get no fair fight from me.

Whats the point of organizing a firefight? The fun of DayZ is in its organic, spontaneous, random encounters. CS,BF3, and cod are organised firefights. Perhaps you would have more fun playing one of those 3 games?

Ok, so I think we can all agree that beyond the gear you have on your character, there is really no reason to care whether or not you live or die. When/if base building, or something similar to the tents from the mod appear this problem will only get worse. Ive been thinking...and it doesnt make sense to me that every random survivor that shows up on the coast just needs to find a 800m scope and all of a sudden they are a proficient sniper. I doubt most people even know how to sight a scope in, never mind hit a moving target from a standing position with a rifle they just found in some house. I think there needs to be some limitation, perhaps limiting accuracy, or reload times, or even how steady your rifle sits when you first handle a weapon. Considering only one book in the SA has any use, more books could be created to "teach" your toon how to do these things. I know there are a lot of people who think "I am so awesome at shooting! Why u make guns bad? Artificial difficulty!", but I believe that building your character up to be a proficient sniper, or mechanic, or whatever, is far more immersive and adds value to your characters life. No longer would your 1 way ticket to the coast be a mild inconvenience that only slows down your killing spree. Instead it might have actual meaning. This could be used for other things as well, such as cleaning animals(when hunting is introduced), or with the weapon cleaning kits(how many new survivors actually know how to clean a weapon properly). I know most people dont want this "anti-game" to become like skyrim or the like, with skill trees and such(I dont either), but being able to fire and reload a mosin(without stripper clips!) in less then 5 seconds with no training? While under fire? I just dont see that happening. Whats more, is I think that these books, or training manuals or whatever, should be exceedingly rare. As it stands now I think Chernarus has a few too many spetsnaz members running around. Of course, I would also like to almost never find ammunition in this game, so maybe my ideas only appeal to a minority of forum goers.

Ive seen up to 500MB+ an hour while playing DayZ. Generally, its somewhere between 200 and 400 though.

I had this happen, but it wasnt the dead body item teleport glitch. It seemed to occur after I had picked up the russian learning book, and the book of Job. I hadnt looted any dead players and hadnt added to my inventory in at least 30 mins. The server reset, and when I logged back in half of my inventory was gone, including the book of job and the russian learning book(I looked for that for sooo long)

Its possible, but if that were true then I dont think any of the seemingly planned towns in the north would ever be finished.

In my experience, anyone wearing these masks shoots first, asks questions later, and can commonly be found camping kamyshovo killing new spawns from the rocks. Knowing the types of people that wear these, I avoid these masks entirely, and I suggest that you do too. If it wasnt for the player base that prefers these masks (mostly KoSers) I would not act the way I do. Its unfortunate, but thats just the type of player that prefers these masks.

I own an m44, which is basically a newer and shorter version of the mosin in game, and as far as I know, there is only an internal magazine(5 rounds), with no way to attach a higher capacity magazine. The SKS on the other hand, which I also own, has a 10 rounds internal magazine, but can accept high capacity mags....Ive seen some as large as 60(I think) but they look ridiculous and would be very hard to use while prone, and they can be a bitch to load into the SKS unless it is manufactured perfectly. Ive only ever used one steel 30rnd. mag that didnt fall out of the gun after firing a couple of shots.
