  1. Maybe Molotovs soon. We are getting improvised grenades first.
  2. Pretty good. I see them moving 6 times faster then most total conversion mods.
  3. Very poor? Unlike the Flintstones joke above, Czech is not in a stoneage, nor an amish farming community. Check it out on google maps. Most towns seem to be pretty well off. New cars, latest cellphone adds, happy people going about their day. the cities are cleaner then most up here in Canada. Lots of last century anti-Russian propaganda still causing racism against our sisters and brothers from another mother(Russia.)

So what happens when zombies can run up stairs?

I hope zombies will be able to only stumble and crawl up stairs.

When do you feel safe to logout?

Two or more story buildings in smaller towns are usually safe for now. Also smoke stacks if you can risk not being spotted by other players. Middle of the woods is safe most of the time if you make sure Zeds or players aren't trailing you.
  6. gorvi

    How careful are you?

I'm a ghost. When I see a less geared player, I lay out extra food in plain sight for them to find. Freaks them right out sometimes. Cautionary signs would be ammo stacking/pop opening sounds, open doors(for now) and lack of Zeds in spots they should normally be.

    Pushing players

I would like this. Pushing or tackling players when fists and are up tapping sprint.
  8. Change your name to alpha spam bot. Too many betas bringing the alpha down.

Hunting- It better be damn hard

Nice complex. Once again proving it had nothing to do with malnutrition. That is your little world. He asked about nutrition to where you laughed in his face, citing his claim as ridiculous which would reverse the facts of his statement. The end result being: Rabbits are nutritional. I linked you an article about protein poisoning which clearly states nutritional facts and the hazards accredited with. Thus started your ill-informed rant about malnutrition, Nothing of which I originally referenced. You only became sensible to the facts of protein poisoning once a credited scientist was mentioned. The problem was never eating one type of meat which you referenced. Its the excess of protein with lean animal meat diet, and since this thread is about survival and hunting. I'm guessing other forms of high fat foods are scarce. Its called humble pie. Learn to savor it.

discredit me and cover your ass all you want. people can think for themselves, and he thought to ask a question. you were in the wrong. deal with it. next time don't laugh at someone and better explain to them your response. especially if it can be translated into a life or death emergency.

Hunting- It better be damn hard

You told me that after the article posted. Before you shot someone down for asking a question, and gave them shit advice. They asked if rabbits have sufficient nutrients and you basically said "GO AHEAD" without any warning to consequence. Nice back peddle though.

A form of Malnutrition You were talking about general malnutrition like if someone didn't have a balanced diet and ate nothing but ramen noodles. When it comes to rabbits, they are very rich in protein, but lack the fat and carbs our body needs. That is where the malnutrition comes from. To better explain this so you understand. Excess protein. Deficient fat. Take all the supplements you want. Eating only rabbits for protein intake is bad. I don't know why you would go through the length of highlighting the first sentence without reading the rest of the article. I foreseen this though and just recommended trying it yourself. If the accounts in there aren't enough for you, of which Charles fucking Darwin wrote one. Arguing with you is pointless.

DayZ should always be about survival...

Good to see another bushwhacker here. Hope to see you around the campfire cooking up some tin can bread with wildberry jam and dandelion tea. Of course, you wont see me ;)

Did you even read it, or just arguing after reading the big bold text up top the wiki? Its about protein poisoning, not malnutrition. We were discussing rabbit meat. not Beans. On that topic, pork and beans have fat added along with other nutrients. One would have a better chance with beans. Either way. Try eating only rabbit meat from your local chinatown with some berries and leafy greens for a week instead of giving shit advice to people who may actually try to use it in a real life situation.
  15. Other than zombies clipping through walls and being a horrible dance partner. They aren't that bad as people make them out to be. The spawning feature is a placeholder for sake of gameplay(which is difficult and a bad thing to do when the game is only 30% complete). That stems from most people treating the game as finished, and the devs buckling to keep players around. Most players here assume the zombies are finished and will be the same come release. When it comes to the zombies sight range, why should it be any less then the non-afflicted? Zombies have a sense of smell too. If wind is coming into play, how about being downwind from a zombie? I think most people complaining here about hordes spawning and chasing players down were using guns and expect most zombies to be deaf. Once stamina is introduced, zombies should be able to catch up to a player trying to escape in a straight line. Most zombies should be slow, but there should be a slighter faster shambling, extra hungry zombie in the crowd to keep players on their toes. Also, grabby zombies and knocking players down are needed. They could have problems with climbing stairs, making highground the better option in most cases.

DayZ should always be about survival...

Accelerated time servers could use a sleep function. Anything compressed below 8 hours for a full 24 hours. Elsewise, sleep is naturally provided by the player. I think safe zones will be large communities. It will be up to the player to fortify their base. Building just outside of a major city or airstrip being a bad idea unless you have a large group of people who play at different times. Survival should be very tough. I want the game to take great inspiration from deans brush with nature. Also, survivor man. This is a good episode. Also, climate is similar to Chernarus. http://youtu.be/CNxoSW0w6kA

    Fedoras

Weed alone doesn't make you goofy like that. Reading one of the books sounds like a joint thing.. Flat surfaces for rolling in a safe area and all...

    Fedoras

Fallout 3 Wanders Edition. Fallout New Vegas took inspiration with jet, psycho, slasher, hydra, etc after Wanders Edition introduced weed and other drugs. Obsidian just couldn't call the drugs actual names due to rating bullshit. It added a new dynamic to play style and was fairly realistic. Raiders had drugs. It made sense. Twitchy NPC's gained more substance. Some wanderers gave into addiction. Players could cook jet. Usage was balanced and fun at the same time Taking that pill to get you through battle yet face the consequences trippin back to town while ghouls and mercs ghost on you. Doing it all with a fedora is all style.

Hunger Isn't an issue. And it should be,

Ever since berries, I have yet to starve once. Once cultivating and hunting is introduced, replenishable food will have to be limited. Spoilage will help balance things out(damaged rice + getting backpack wet = spoilage. Fresh meat, open cans, etc.) I think "unlimited" sources should be limited. Berry bushes included, water wells could be limited in replenishing pure water. When communities and player buildings are implemented, it will discourage camping and promote supply runs. droughts and shortages dispersing players. Bandits taking control of a water well could be a big deal. Lone wolfs and survivalists will use river and pond water, which boiling or tablets are needed. Catch basins could also be a big possibility.
  21. Play experimental servers where there are no zombies. Ill take broken zombies anyday.

    Respawning Loot Prototype

I have an idea that it will be split into quadrants then sectors representing a minimum/maximum amount of items before checking for spawn. Sectors would be a group of cells such as entire towns and other landmarks while the quadrants will cover the map as a whole. An example on your map would be; if there is no player in NWAF quad, the game could safely replenish items in that area. Now if 3 players were in your coast quad, the game would recognize this and go to the next step which would be sectors. Now lets say there is a sniper camping near a sector or quadrant. It would stop him from seeing doors open/close and loot appearing by being in that quadrant, but other sectors in the quadrants a set distance(1-2km?) from players would still spawn. quadrants in reference are nothing more then a large scale coordinate system. When it comes to loot distribution, there will be checks in place to ensure against your pliers scenario. I have a feeling loot will work nothing like it does now a and will be more sparsely distributed with the new system. examples being quadrant 2 sector 3b level 1 loot: pliers, basic clothing, etc. max 10, min 3. level 2 loot: axes, medicine, etc. max 5, min 1. level 3 loot guns, bullets, food, etc. max 3, min 0. all these could randomly spawn more or less quality/quantity loot.

This is where assumption comes into play. never assume. you are making an ass out of you and me. For other uses of the word quadrant. Please consult your local library.
