I think all the riots when police shoots someone in the US or the mass looting when hurricane cuts power beg the different. All that mayhem happening over relatively small incidents or temporary paralysis of emergency services. Sure most people would end up having a small tribe of trusted individuals who's goals align, but the general approach to strangers would be cold and reserved and best hostile and worse. And as the collapse continues food and medical supplies would become more and more hard to come by people would end up doing more desperate things to get them. So while it wouldn't end up being the battle royale we have in dayz which is due to having a respawn button and general boredom with lack of other things to do I don't think it would be the friendly adventure time some people here would want it to be. At the end of the day this forums has seen thousands of posts on how to reduce the rampant killing and devs have ignored all of them, so you might as well take this game as what it is or look elsewhere.

Yes in real apocalypse people would just band together, sitting around camp fires holding hands and singing koombaya while building a better tomorrow. Actually that's unlikely to happen, sure the killing one another wouldn't be as common as it is the game because you'd be risking your own life and you only get one. But plenty of people would go off rails and kill just to get more stuff or just so they don't get killed. For most people the game doesn't have that much to offer apart from the thrill of pvp multiplied by the risk of losing all your hard earned gif and sweetened by the chance of reward which is their their loot. Map isn't that big or varied and eventually it the exploration does get boring. Farming sure as hell isn't a solution to that problem because it's hardly something exciting. Same goes for base building, it can be fun and distract you from killing but that won't last long. Also most player who tried to trust someone else got burned, multiple times. Especially when it comes to freshies, they have nothing to lose and everything to gain which is why thet get shot indiscriminately. The fact that someone can knock me out bare handed when I'm wearing a bike or ballistic helmet without as much and getting a bleed is a joke.

Hi all I'm looking for a community server near uk so that the ping is reasonable, preferably one that has the following extra loot and stamina very few or no mods at all no global chat No strict rules for pvp or raiding active admins The last one I played on made some undesired changes and went from absolutely full during the weekend to having 2 players. I've tried the Northmen but the neon green global chat is too distracting. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

While I agree that force feeding people is too easy I see a problem with consensual force feeding. In most cases people won't cooperate and activate the feed me command. And why would they ? 9/10 it's guaranteed to be something malicious. In real life if someone is holding you at gun point and your choices are to either die outright or take your chances surviving poisoning from whatever you're being forced to ingest you'd choose the latter. But in dayz I can just hit the respawn button. If I'm kitted out with some fancy gear and find myself tied up that gear is already as good as gone it's not like they'll let me keep my LAR. So at this point unless I'm really in a mood for rp which let's be honest here most people in dayz aren't I'd rather just end in there and then and start over.

The best base you can get is a barrel or a crate stashed somewhere no one is going because there is no reason to. I once had a red barrel (couldn't be any worse colour) hidden is a bush that barely covered in one of the ruins and it went unnoticed for 3 month until server wipe due to update. There is also a lot of chrismas trees that touch each other on a way that allow you to hide a green or even a yellow barrel so well that it's almost impossible to spot. And if you want to play Bob the builder and make a big ass grandiose base you have accept that someone will sooner or later force their way in.

DayZ is supposed to have the perma death penalty, which means you're not supposed to have an unraidable base that you can go back to every time you die and gear up instantly.

That 7,62x54r round carries so much kinetic energy that even if the plate caught it it would break your ribs and cause pulmonary oedema. Which means even if you had someone to cover you and get you to safety you'd require serious medical attention and definitely not be able to walk or run for at least few days. Being unconscious for few seconds then waking up to full combat effectiveness if the second shot doesn't come is getting of easy. Your character should dragging itself around grunting in pain for days after being shot like this.

I think people want to build massive bases and then hoard as many items as they possibly can in them is because it gives them something to do. I said this before, once you get some semi decent gear and full hydration and energy bars the fight for survival is over. You are no longer at risk of starving or dying from disease, even wild animals aren't a threat once you have few spare bullets. PvE is only a thing during first few hours after you spawn as a freshie, after that if you want to get some entertainment out of the game you either have to go and do PvP or build a base and try to get as mant rare items in there as you can. Most people don't want to play farming simulator so growing their own tomatoes and zucchini won't be their play-style. Devs adamantly ignore any suggestions to make all item including food a lot rare so that you actually have to fight for survival. Instead we're getting explosives and grenade launcher which is a crystal clear indication that the direction this game is heading in is that of a open shooter with survival elements. Also introduction of explosives will make base building even more pointless than it is now, because now at least if someone wants to get into one they need to find a bunch of grenades, but once the 1.18 all they'll need is one improvised explosive and they're in.

Hi After not playing for quite a while, a new mod was added to the community server I play on. However as I try to join I get the above error and I have no idea how to solve since now the game doesn't open the launcher before starting. Edit, I managed to get one mod working, but now it's asking for another. It's working now, seems like reloading the mods for the 3rd time worked. Edit 2 It's working on my account, but when I try to log onto my friends account it's again telling me that the mod files are missing, I checked the folder where to mod files are and they are there, I'm also subscribed to the workshop mod on both accounts.

It makes perfect sense to have to take off you backpack to use what's inside. I'd even go one step further and make you take off your backpack before you can take anything out of it. That includes guns. The fact that someone can hide and smg or even a rifle and than take it out as quickly as a person who has in on their shoulder is ridiculous. Items that you want a quick access to would need to be stored in pockets or pouches.

None of the diseases / injuries work the way they do in real life. Fractures heal so quickly they are nothing but a minor inconvenience. Any illness can be cured near instantly with mixture of antibiotics and vitamins. Gunshot wounds which in a case of lack of advanced medical care would be almost universally fatal are literally inconsequential in dayz unless they kill you outright. Survival ends the second you get some warm clothes a gun to defend yourself and a bit of food. Hunting and fishing are laughably easy. And if at any point trying to keep your character alive becomes to much of a chore you just hit the respawn button. So maybe the lack of identification of human fat and the way that kuru works are a great grieving tool. But they also add a element of risk to the game.

Feed them human fat, they won't know it's human fat and by the time the laughter kicks in they'll probably manage to get some gear and be mad that their character is a write off. Another thing to do it keep few bits of human fat in your storage while on the coast, if a hungry newbie kills you you'll be the one having the last laugh. Well technically he will but you get the idea.

The only people who could influence Putin enough to stop the war are the rich, and they won't give a shit if russian dayz server or youtube channels are closed. And that's disregarding the fact that even if Putin was to be removed from power by a coup or someone adding novichok to his tea it doesn't mean russia will all of a sudden start having legitimate elections. Anyone with enough influence and power to pull a proverbial or even literal trigger on Putin will make sure that the next election goes the way they want.

I am yet to see peaceful protests in the US. And people in Russia are protesting right now, thousands are being arrested and according to the news on at least one occasion police opened fire on them.

People are revolting, they end up in a prison or worse, protests barely work in democratic countries like UK and US, in places like Russia they achieve absolutely nothing.

Solution that has been working for me I use the DZSA launcher and always launch the game from it since it has my last played and favourites, so Launch the game via the launcher, if you get the error close the game and the launcher, let steam finish the cloud sync, relaunch the game via the launcher. Works in about 80% of the cases in the first try.

Or when your folding stock cannot fold so you rename it as light buttstock. Also if I was wearing a ski mask and wanted to drink I could just hold the mask in my other hand while I drink or even pull it down to uncover my mouth, unfortunately in DayZ I can't do that so where is the realism there ?

Yes, there are both bushes and branches with hit boxes that can stop bullets that should hit the player.
