    I agree, nothing but "You are dead". Save the statistics for the stats screen in the menu.

I know weapon balance is not a priority, but please, just do an across-the-board damage check and bump it up a notch - it's insane that I've now had at least 5 people survive headshots from my AKM, from various distances, 4 of which were done on people with NO PROTECTIE headgear. Some of them kept running with blood spilling from their cranium (the guy with a ballistic helmet). Please. Just up the damage on everything so it makes some semblance of realsim, it doesn't have to be fine-tuned.

    Bang that head of yours away at the wall than. That's all from the game files. If that isn't 'undisputable proof' I don't know what is. Also, checks out in practice.

    Accuracy is far in favor of AKM. Weapon has no spread, you can't compete with that. Recoil, now that's more manageable on the M4.

    I mostely operate in a group of 3, 4/5 is optimal depending on the location being covered. 6 is really pushing it but can work if all are good. I find it that it's primarily important to find people who are disciplined and OBEY orders. I typically give orders out but in one group I am receiving them, and don't mind - as long as one guy calls the shots and the others follow accordingly things can work out fine. I was with some friend's group and they were like rabid monkeys. "I don't have anything but a pistol, I'm running across the airfield k?" "ok I go with you". 2 minutes later they were killed by a single guy with an SKS.

    Are you advocating that you need to know who someone is in order to tell them something, on a forum? Don't resort to petty attempts at insults either, here, let me refresh your memory: Once again, you do NOT get to tell ANYONE what killing other players is justified with, be it food, weapons, fun or "points". And you do NOT get to tell anyone how the game is "meant" to be played, what's fun or what's boring. Because there is no intended way to play the game - it's all personal preference. I have a preference to stalk and hunt geared people. But I'm not a pompous and self absorbed to the point I'm convincing myself and others that the game is "meant" to be played like that. I also won't play dumb and deny ever saying it one page later.

    You are. You don't get to tell me, or anyone else, why I should kill players, or what should be fun or boring.

    You don't get to be the judge of that for anyone but yourself. I kill because I find enjoyment in stalking and subsequently killing people in various ways. I almost never have need for their gear. However I don't go around trying to impose MY playstyle on anyone else, I advise you to do the same.

    From the way YOU'RE talking it seems to me you don't know that the foundation and scope of the two engines is substantially different. Furthermore you also can't prove that the AKM damage rangei is so wide so you're posting things that have ABSOLUTELY NO RELEVANCY TO THE FACT. You're posting non-sensical and non-related things that have NOTHING to do with what this post is about, while providing absolutely nothing of value or merit to the discussion. Who the hell cares if there are different player models in Source games? Most of the competitive ones don't and there's nothing that fact has to do with any of what's being discussed here. Dayz SA has weird, laggy hit detection and that's no secret to anyone (hint: this is not the topic of discussion), however it's easy to see when you land a headshot on a still target, and it's easy to verify that you indeed hit the head when you check the corpse after confirming. It's also easy to see that the said target is unconcious and only his wool helmet is ruined. See? THAT's factual information, I don't go on about how you can or can't hit anything or what range I'm zeroing.. unlike you, I have a precise thing to discuss and a list of details and events that I've personally been part of. You have nothing but "lol get better son" and "in the real world no 2 shots are perfect" .. try to wrap your head around that.

    I'd agree, but they've already fiddled with the damage system on several occasions, such as upping the .22 damage somewhat recently. That means they intend to make the model workable, albeit not 100% balanced. Which means, we could expect them to fix the damage values being too low on more than a few occasions.

    Yep, so far 4 people that had no protective gear on their head didn't die from the headshot, mearly fell unconcious which is INSANE. One of the headshots was from point blank, the others were 100-200 meters. Sure, some of them do turn lethal, but these exceptions are ridiculous at best, the guy I shot in the head but had a helm, it was 50 meters at best, how can you keep running away with blood coming off from your helm is beyond me...

    Well, they are adding it bit by bit, but once they change the RENDER it will dramatically change how the game looks in a single patch. While it won't be a new engine, a lot of laimans will think that it indeed is what a "new engine" represents.

    Sorry, I consider myself good enough that I don't trust just about anyone who claims otherwise.. especially a "lol son" post. Last night I dropped a guy clearly in the head, friend came to loot body, confirms I only ruined his wool cap, guy still alive. Nonsense.

    Can you explain the need to stress the obvious? You failed being smarter, more experienced or having better reactions than your opponent and died. This can be applied to any game. What's next, "If you can't find beans, it's your fault"?

    How will you play, Hardcore or Standard

    I started playing hardcore after a couple of hours of regular and never looked back. I just can't stand the gimmicky camera and how people use it. Completely breaks the immersion and, for me, the importance of tactical gameplay and spacial awareness. Unlike most people, I'm not willing to give that up in order to play with someone else - I play HC through and through, if someone wants to play with me, they'll have to play HC as well.

    Akm damage bugged?

    Yep damage is inconsistent overall. I had a guy with a cowboy hat survive a headshot with an AKM from 200 meters. Another guy with a ballistic helmet was shot from the same range with a mosin, also survived (also to the head). This is imbecilic at best.

    First, thanks for the response accolyte, devs do rarely post here and I'm sure everyone appreciates someone breaking the norm. Now I understand that you can't just change the sound as the game will still behave the same mechanically if you left it at that. However, I did notice that they've (you've?) changed the M4 sounds this patch even though it's certainly not a priority compared to some other things like you said. Can you confirm anything regarding that, or maybe, if more suppressors are to be added? I remember seeing a one for the AKM in the model files a couple of months ago.

  24. Since the changes to NEAF I've moved to greener pastures as well, now I'm cycling between the vybor mil base and NWAF, depending on how many people I'm with. NWAF can't really be locked down with 2 people but the vybor base is often visited by people willing to bring me glorious amounts of AKM attachments and ammo. The perfect time to oversee the vybor base is indeed when server restarts happen and on low-pop servers (no more than 10 people). I never loot the place, just wait for others to do it, and someone always shows up..

    AKM performance

    Ok so I've made 20ish kills with the AKM so far. Not much but I figure I should do a write up and compare notes with you guys in order to figure out what the values are, at least roughly. 1. This weapon has a weird, jumpy-type of sway. It's not smooth like it should, rather it moves in short bursts in various directions, which makes it weird to aim with. An interesting observation is that if you MOVE while aiming, the recoil is completely gone. It might have to do something with it. Thankfully, it can be lessened by holding breath. 2. There is no semi-auto fire mode, T doesn't seem to do anything. RPM is slighly lower than an M4s, while the recoil is higher. I've killed 5 people to the head at 200 meters from a single shot to the head. Even though there is no semi-auto mode, single shots are a bit easier to achieve due to the seemingly slightly lower RPM than the M4. 3. There are no dust clouds with this weapon, nor enemy blood gushes when I hit them, so it's really hard to gauge if I hit or miss someone, or where my shots land. I tried shooting a guy from about 400 meters (something perfectly reasonable with an M4+acog+MP parts) and couldn't hit him once from what I could tell. After he started running I must have plugged 20 rounds in his general direction. I had some weird instances close up where I'd take far more bullets than expected to kill someone. Not sure if the damage is bugged, rubber banding or something else, but people that are running take considerably more bullets to kill. In comparison to the M4, I can down 2 people running with 10-15 bullets from 100~150 meters easily. 4. The scope doesn't seem to be affected by damage at the moment, so it's like the mosin one as far as I can tell. 5. I haven't found the foldable buttstock so I can't testify to how it works. If anyone else did, please post your findings. Thanks
