I've only looted this gun once but haven't been able to try it out in a "real" situation. How do you guys think it stacks up to the M4/Mosin, for me it appears to go between the two from a theoretical point of view, more recoil than the mosin, no bipod but same damage (or not?), semi automatic (this is huge) and 10 instead of 5 rounds. Do you think a backup weapon is warranted? If Im running with an M4, there really is no need for a pistol, but with a mosin you had to have something for close up. Opinions?

How do you fix empty backpacks/shirts/containers of your victims?
infiltrator posted a topic in General Discussion
So this bug is pretty annoying and has been dragging on for quite a while. I'm sure a lot of KoSers are familiar with it and I'm facing it several times on a daily basis. Namely, when you kill someone, their backpack/shirt/pants etc. are sometimes visibly empty, but there's stuff in them anyway. You can't loot them, it appears empty. If there's empty spaces in the container, you can put one item and the other will appear. However, if there's no empty spaces, there is no room to put a random item in there and make the rest pop up. Is there a way to solve this, other than taking a gamble and just swapping his backpack/shirt/pants with yours and hoping that when you spawn next time they won't be just full of cans? -
So far I've been shooting through barracks glasses with no success. We found one guy in the barracks and my friend stood in front of the window, the guy started going full auto on him with an AK74 and a couple of bullets went through and hit him.. how often does this happen to you guys? Is it a "bug"? I've never had a single bullet penetrate the glass myself.

And you must be a child with that sort of reading comprehension. So my advice to you is to read before replying.

But if I actually knew what is made of what it'd be easier. I thought windows were made of adamantium, but today I've found out otherwise..

Ok so, I've gotten in an argument with a friend in regards to the AKM/AK101 damage/recoil and basically the versatility and viability of both weapons. There's a chart that clearly says the damage value of the AKM bullet is stronger. However there are that go in detail and in practice demonstrate how the AK101 does more damage and has less recoil. Did something change since the video was made? As far as I can tell, the AKM's recoil is still more noticeable than the AK101's, but damage is hard to gauge for me.

Call me a filthy KOSer, but everything I ever do in dayz only serves to one purpose - be as least visible as possible while having the best odds to find and kill as many people as possible. Mind you I never venture to the coast, I stay in heavily populated military areas and just pluck people from there, I get at least 3 kills a day, often more.. so I'm pretty sure I got 200 kills split over the AKs in there. The thing is, I can never tell with the damn AKs what's better. Sometimes I shoot a guy in the head once with the helmet - he drops dead. Other times, he has a COWBOY hat, I shoot him, he's unconscious for a minute.. and yet some other times, I shoot them and they don't even bleed. How am I going to gather meaningful data out of that??
-
But was a clear shot and I'm pretty sure I did, I saw the red splashes on his head as I did. The only other thing that might interfere would be desync. Edit - Irish man, I've killed at least 100 with both and I'm still not sure, the results just seem to be too random for me.

Ok, but the question is how does the damage fit in all this. In a game where people drop from one shot, bullet damage seems to be hardly relevant. Yet I've had instances where I shot people with a helmet TWICE in the head and they would live. Yesterday I shot one guy who had a payday mask in the back of the head with an AK101 and he just walked off. Other times I'd shoot them once and they'd drop. What are your findings guys?

I can't paint even the buttstock in green.. how do you guys do it?
-
Anyone had the chance to check the dispersion modifiers of the new AK attachments, and possibly updates to the old ones?
-
I updated to the newest experimental and the game doesn't start. Just "stopped working" as I try to do it. I verified the cache, but that didn't help.

This has got to be one of the most annoying issues nobody talks about. I frikin hate it when I have to look at a certain area in order to amplify or reduce the gamma of the game on-the-fly because someone though it would be good to have light that adapts almost instantly based on where you're looking at. Please remove this. I don't want to look at a rock so I can see what's on the other side of the hill more clearly. edit: added screenshots.. 1. First screenshot is after I was looking at the ground for a couple of seconds 2. Second is immediately as I look up 3. Third is a few seconds after the "auto-gamma" adjustment kicks in. http://imgur.com/a/LWqoK

Agreed, its more prominent when clouds are present. -

Anyone figured out how to fix this (if possible?) -

THIS phenomenon most certainly does NOT happen IRL: The screenshots are taken one after this other. 1. First screenshot is after I was looking at the ground for a couple of seconds 2. It doesn't have to do with it at all. I think it's best seen when you're at the top of a large building (perhaps the berezino apts), because there you have a large vertical area to cover (and thus more likely to notice the issue I'm describing) - try going up there and looking up and down, to the sea, buildings, block in front of you - the changes to the gamma are quite drastic based on what you look at, and you're standing in one position, you don't ever have to have the sun in your viewport either. -

No. I have bloom off and HDR very low, still happens every time. I'm not sure if it's less subtle than the mod, haven't played that in awhile. I'll try to get pictures but some of the people here describe the issue well enough. You look at the horizon - everything is dark. You look at the grass in front of you - everything lightens up. -
Is it just me or the AKM dispersion has gone through the roof? I can land a shot on a guy running in circles at 200m (shooting 1-2 bullets at a time).
-
I was shooting a guy yesterday at about 200 m, and holy shit, I barely made two holes in him. I only shot one or two bullets at a time but the dust behind the guy I was shooting indicated that not only was I missing, the shots were landing practically all over the place.

To the "friendly" guy who killed me and took my MP5
infiltrator replied to Evaris's topic in General Discussion
The amount of people who are willing to believe others in dayz is staggering. Case in point: I was on experimental, and had an SKS but no ammo. I caught a glimpse of a military-geared guy going in a shed near the Zelengorsk mil base. Had I had a loaded weapon, I would have probably just followed and killed him. But I didn't. So I said (and meant) I was friendly. At that point, I'm pretty much ready to die, but it was experimental so I didn't really care. The guy not only replied he was friendly, but also said he needed to log off.. which he did, right in FRONT of me. So I waited for him to join back just to tell him how stupid that was. I'm typically just someone looking to kill others, but when I state my intentions, I never lie. I couldn't tell you about others because if someone approached me and said he was friendly I would shoot him at the first thing that slightly unnerved me. -
It should protect you from ballistas.
-
Friend shot a guy with a ballistic helmet at about 200 meters directly to the face. We both witnessed it. I went to loot, guy wakes up (???). I shoot a guy with a cowboy hat at 100 meters with the AKM. Headshot, he drops. Go up to him, still alive. WTF guys?
-
This guy is hilarious but I guarantee he's a squeaker (prime kos material).

What is the longest you have survived?
infiltrator replied to Baseborn's topic in General Discussion
2 weeks or so. I frequent military facilities and kill a lot of people so it would've been higher if survival was my priority.
