Does the quality of some attachments have any impact on them?

Everyone knows that scopes that aren't pristine either don't aim right (LRS) or are broken (every other scope). But what about other attachments. Handgrips, buttstock, bipod, compensator.. does their quality influence anything? -

Great thread, this is one of my biggest concerns at the moment.. shots are practically tied to lucking out, and I missed several perfectly measured (with dayzdb map) and calibrated my sights to match the range, shots missed for no obvious reason (scope was pristine). So.. yeah. They need to fix this ASAP.

I am really disappointed in the lack of attachments though. At least give the SKS SOMETHING. Either a (working) suppressor, a bipod a LRS or a compensator.. anything.. having just the useless bayonet and the PU scope is a really small selection. -
I know, it has been reported and is a known issue, but please devs, just replace the zombie sound with a blank audio file next update, I was covering for my friend with a sniper and a rabbit must have been camping nearby. My friend started getting shot from a position near me, while also being pinned by someone at his location. So I had to concentrate on sniping his assailant but not before I figure out where the guy near me was.. and it was INCREDIBLY annoying that I had to do this while that imbecilic rabbit kept moaning and screaming right next to me (couldn't see him) while I was trying to do that. Please.. just replace it with a blank audio file..

I am really surprised that a game with such strong connections with arma has random dispersion. Weapons like the M4 should be more difficult to handle, but they should never shoot to the left or right of where you aim - I don't want "fake" innacuracy, where I seemingly can control my gun with ungodly skill but in return I get magical bullets that veer off the trajectory on some random cosmical dice throw. I want the gun to be hard to control (based on what gun it is and my trigger discipline) but shots should always go where the sights indicate.. What we have now is an extremely annoying mechanic that is favored by contemporary commercial shooters and should be absolutely avoided.. at least in my opinion.

Anyone else died and then heard gunshots? My last death, I was in a pretty desolate area, though it was a full experimental server. I was walking out of a building, then all of a sudden, you're dead. I hear a single gunshot about 3 seconds later. I wasn't lagging, and the game didn't indicate I desynced. Anyone else had this problem?

You can't fully simulate shooting in any game, it will never be fully simulated anywhere apart from a shooting range.. but I think that we can go a long way from here to making it more realistic AND enjoyable at the same time. -

Thanks for the answers all.. I guess "alpha thing" is as close as I'll get. And yeah I'm pretty sure it was at least 3 seconds as I just stood there wondering what happened, assumed I walked into an invisible entity that made me kill myself, and then heard the shot.. -

This is so very wrong. First, there is no wind in the game yet. When and if its implemented we can consider it a factor. Even if we PRETEND there is wind, the only wind that we could pretend existed would be the kind that changes direction every milisecond and is able to blow down the Z axis. Second, even if you zero and shoot at a target that is on the perfect distance, there's still dispersion, so I don't know how can you come up with that explanation. Just zero in at 200 meters, shoot at a wall 200 meters away and you'll see what I mean. -

I think the option is first to reassure you that your character is indeed retarded. Otherwise he wouldn't wake up in the middle of a beach with nothing but a flashlight and shirt/jeans on him. -

Definitely not. I've had several pristine sights where bullets go wherever they please in the imaginary cone around my sights. -

Do you know how to shoot someone AND get their food/water.. because I don't, even after headshots, everything but the weapons is ruined.. That said, I find the PVP aspect to be really interesting and the best part of dayz. -

Pretty much this. Before getting dayz I was reading a lot and what I figured out is NEVER to go to balota, cherno or elektro. And I never did. If I ever need to head there, chapaev and dubki have EVERYTHING I need and they're frikin ghost towns. -

Yep found 2 in one hangar, both damaged though. In all honesty sks should be able to mount them, its not like you can bipod it. -
So I've tried the experimental patch since I wanted to see the SKS. I have to admit, populated servers are really hard and I was wondering if thats an issue or working as intended. I've been restarting on the same server 3 times and died 3 times in a row due to starvation. Every single building is looted, and all I'm able to find are discarded flashlights and pants. I've tried 3 different directions since I spawned, each and every one resulted arriving in a completely looted town, even when I intentionally skipped towns after finding out they are looted I just kept bumping into rotten oranges, the occasional hammer and useless headgear. Is this how a populated server should behave like, or I'm doing something wrong?

I was walking through some woods yesterday, near the spawn area when I thought I heard someone shooting at me. The sounds of bullets ricocheting never stopped, so eventually I came up from the crawl and started zig zagging in an attempt to avoid being an easy target.. while doing that, I bumped into a guy punching a rock for some reason.. turned out he was my assailant. Well, that's how I discovered that melee-ing something makes bullet sounds, pretty sure it's a known issue but if it was me I'd just leave it with no sound at all rather than what it is now :P -

Every fight I get into, people are using 3rd person to their advantage. I know because I can see the tip of their head as they scroll past a wall looking STRAIGHT at me behind it. This is just ridiculous, people entering a building standing on the edge of the door and scoping for threats.. just ridiculous. Maybe 3rd person should remain but it should be limited to the point where you can't abuse it if thats even possible. -

Nah guys, lets make characters permanently stay on a server regardless of whether or not you log in or out. Of course, they still need food and water, so if you don't come often enough you'll still starve to death!
