  1. Seems that the last few time I've been through Berezino I've seen the same thing. One or more people on top of the hospital in town, west of the construction site, engaged in sniper warfare with another person, or group, on top of the apartments across the road from the supermarket to the north. I've been through Berezino four times in the last 2 weeks, on various lives, and encountered this every time. Obviously different groups each time (I think) but always the same fight. What is up with that?

The Current Combat Log System Dosen't Work

Combat logging is the same as admitting defeat. He might as well as stood up, dropped his gun and put his hands up while i walk up and execute him on the spot. If he combat logs, then he admits defeat and i'll walk up and execute him while he sits on the ground like the melon that he is. The system works, and the only people who have a problem with it are combat loggers.

Anyone have any problems with ammo disappearing?

Yes this has happened to me several times. But it's only an Alpha, so what are going to do. With little things like this, you have to just shrug it off and be philosophical about it. "Sure I just lost some of my Mosin ammo, but I've still got all this other ammo so lets just move on."

The Current Combat Log System Dosen't Work

The combat log system isn't intended to force people to finish fights, it's intended to punish people who try to combat log and discourage it in the future. You need to understand the mindset of a combat logger. They don't do it to avoid fights, they do it because they don't want to lose their gear in a fight that is not going their way. When they try to combat log for this reason, the other guy can just shot them in the head in the next 30 seconds, so they lose their gear anyway. Knowing this, combat loggers will not try and combat log but rather try to run or fight their way out. It's not about avoiding fights, it's about protecting themselves. And when it no longer protects them, they will stop doing it.
  5. So I've decided I'm going to take a crack at pacifism. In my next life I'm going to get my hands on a backpack and a fire axe to fend off the undead, but I'm going to stay away from all guns and run away if attacked rather than retaliate. I'll even keep my axe in my bag, despite it taking up so much space, so that I appear as non-threatening as possible. I wonder how I'll fare...
  6. So I'm all alone up in that new town north of Berezino and I've just left the police station and I'm heading for the big square in the middle of town when a little notification pops up in the same place that tells you when you're hungry/thirst/bleeding/etc that reads "You hear footsteps behind you." Naturally I turn on the spot, raising my gun. Nothing. An empty street. Infact i'm sure i didn't hear any footsteps through my speakers, and i've never seen that notification before. It did a right job of creeping me out, so I found somewhere safe to log out and came here to ask. What is up with that? Is there some new feature I don't know about? Could my guy be hearing things? Going insane? Or is this new town haunted?

    The Sad Story of Randal

"Poor Randal, may he rest in peace" I say as I wipe his blood off the contents of his backpack.

If you like dying, come to BEREZINO.

Hmmm, I'm going to go with Dickhead, and here's my reasoning. A douche can clean out a vagina, and I don't think the OP has even ever seen a vagina. (In person. Internet porn doesn't count) This is why he has to take out his sexual frustrations on game characters and then brag about it online so that he can get some validation for his wasted life. A dickhead, on the other hand, can be attached to a virgin, making it nothing more than a useless waste of flesh (not unlike our OP), and until he does what he was made for and gets fucked, he will always be a pointless, useless dickhead. To summarize, the OP is a dickhead.
  9. So I'm somewhat fresh spawned and doing a food run through Electro when and I've just gotten done looking through the bar near the school. I'm looking to leave the building when I see someone in casual clothes and a rifle of some kind run into the school. So naturally I decide to leg it out the back door, only to run straight into a full-mil guy with a mosin. He doesn't blow me away instantly, but tells me to head into the church, and says that if I go anywhere else he'll drop me. I head into the church and see two other full-mils and a fresh spawn on her knees cuffed with a bag over her head. The apparently ran out of cuffs because they didn't restrain me but told me to crouch in the corner and surrender. God knows what they were doing to my fellow hostage, but I was stuck in the corner with a gun in my face. I sat like this for about a minute when suddenly I see movement at the door. Oh, why if it isn't that rifle guy that ran into the school earlier. The bandits hadn't seen him yet, but he'd seen them. *bang bang bang bang bang bang* gunshots, loud as hell. And the bandits just start dropping. I see the cuffed girl go down and I scream over direct "I'M NOT WITH THEM! DON'T SHOOT ME!" The shots don't stop and my screen goes black. "You are unconscious." I hear some foot steps, a gunshot, more footsteps, another gunshot, footsteps that get closer, another gunshot and my message changes to "You are dead." Thanks for the rescue. Asshole.

    My character yells at spawn

Your character has healthy status when he first spawns? What wizardry is this!?!?

If you like dying, come to BEREZINO.

Why the fuck did he put Berezino in the title when he says they were in Cherno? Is it just stupidity or is there some joke that a I have to lose a few dozen brain cells to understand?

    Death by Lag

Yep it's another one of those... I had just been robbed by pack of bandits in the south western part of Berezino and was sent off naked, without even a pair of shoes to my name. I managed to get my hands on some clothes and a small backpack, and after a trip to the school/office building near the lumber mill, I got a shotgun and some buckshot shells. Then I headed north into town to hit up the well when suddenly I hear "AIEEEE!" and like some crazed psychopath an axe wielding newspawn comes running around a blind corner aiming to take my head off. He was still about 5 steps away when fed him a buckshot sandwich. A shotgun blast to the face at near to point blank range should have ended the discussion then and there, but lag allowed him to get close enough to hit me on the head twice with his fireaxe. Black screen. "You are dead." BULLSHIT!!! I got him! Respawned just south of the lumber yard and ran straight back to my body. Luckily no one had found my body and he had died a split second after me, but a good few seconds after he SHOULD have died, so I managed to get all my stuff back along with a shiny new fireaxe, with only a few bloodstains on it (mostly mine). Yet another story of Death by Lag. Anyone have any lagdeath stories of their own to share?

    O- or AB+

The title says it all. What blood type would you prefer to have the most? Which blood type do you cross your fingers and hope for when you first use a Blood Test Kit? As you know O- is the universal blood type that can be given to anyone while AB+ is the blood type that can accept blood from anyone.

Go play Rust if you want to make guns

    Resources and gun crafting!

Why? That's the big question. For example, why would you go to the trouble of crafting a Bolt Action Rifle when the Mosin Nagant is faster to reload and more damaging with farther range and easy to find?
  16. So I Spawned near Berenzino and, after grabbing a splitting axe and one of those big hiking backpacks from the construction site, I made my way through the town with the appartments to grab some stuff from the supermarket before heading down to that office building in the lumberyard. See I knew that, for some dumb reason, the room on the top floor was a military spawn. I managed to grab some warmer clothes and a chest holster along with a Magnum to fill it. (Ever notice how the magnum has "Python" carved into the side of it? That's a Walking Dead reference isn't it? Rick's magnum is a Python) So I'm working my way back down, checking each room for anything I'd missed, when I hear over direct "Hey, you in the room. Put your hands up or you're dead!" So I surrender. The guy appears in the doorway, aiming a Mosin at me. He sees the Magnum on my chest and tells me to drop it so I tell him that I had only just found it and didn't have any ammo. So he says "Ok then, just drop your pack on the floor and you can go." I comply. He takes my pack and turns to leave. Thats when I pull out my newly found Magnum and put two of the sixteen .357 rounds I'd found in the supermarket into the back of his head. I got my pack back and his Mosin (which he had no ammo for) and he got a lesson in banditry: Don't take anything your victim says at face value.

    A Trusting Bandit? Not Anymore...

That just ruins all their gear. If you want to actually rob someone, hold them up. The only time you should be a KoS bandit is if you have no interest in their kit and just want to fuck up someone's day.
  18. I was looking around the Balota Airstrip and was just about to leave the northernmost military jail when I saw someone pass the door with a Scoped Mosin. I had just picked up an M4 and a 20 round mag so I carefully went to the door and peeked out. He was climbing up into the nearest guard tower and started looking around down his scope. I figured "This guy is clearly bad news." It was so obvious that he was looking for someone to snipe, So I shot him 15 times in the back and took his Mosin and his 60+ 7.62 ammo.
  19. This is a story of something that happened to me last night and quickly became one of the most memorable moments I've experienced in DayZ Standalone. So I was looking around the hospital in Electro for some medical loot, but unfortunately it was tapped. Like an idiot I decided to run out onto the roof and look around the city, not for anything particular, but just for something interesting. My game tragically glitched and my character ended up running straight off the roof. Luckily I survived, unluckily I broke my legs. With no splint or morphine on my person, I was forced to crawl through the streets of Electro waiting for either a Zombie to come and tear me a new one, or for another Survivor to come along and either help me or kill me. So I'm crawling helplessly down the middle of the street when suddenly the area around me just explodes into gunfire. I don't know if they were two groups of bandits, or a bandit group and a squad of heroes, but these two sizable squads had stumbled upon each other and begun communicating at muzzle velocity. And there I was, on my belly with broken legs, crawling through the middle of it. Eventually I made it as far as the Electro church and was considering hiding inside until this shitstorm blew over. There were players running back and forth and gunfire from just about every direction, but it seemed that no one was paying much attention to me. I was just making for the open church doors when the gunfire trailed off and, probably one of the fight's survivors ran up and put a magnum round through my skull. I'm guessing from this friendly greeting that he was on the bandit's side. So thats a tale of yet another memorable DayZ moment. Seems like most of my most memorable moments in this game end in my death... There's probably some deep meaning to that. *shrug* Oh well.
  20. So I was fresh spawned right near Balota, and I thought "Hey I've got nothing to lose, so why not sprint and grab whatever I can from around the airstrip?" Five minutes later and I was pretty well kitted. I had camo clothes, a bag full of food, a half full canteen and even a compass. I'd found a FNX45, but hadn't found any ammo for it yet. And the I turn a corner and find myself staring down the barrel of a very mean looking M4A1 (something about that bayonet attachment just makes it look terrifying up close). It seemed I'd run into one of the rare bandits who prefer to hold up people rather than kill on sight as he told me to get on my knees and not move. Then he handcuffed me and took all my gear. Turn out he wasn't as honorable as I thought as he told me he intended to shot me, but didn't want to risk damaging my gear (at least he gave me a heads up, right? *sarcasm*) but first he decided to sift through all my gear for whatever he wanted to take. So after having his pick of my stuff and leaving the rest on the ground, he took a few steps back and raised his gun, aiming right at my head. Feeling pretty cocky and powerful, he asked me if I had any last words. Being ever clever and quick witted I was about to respond with a hearty "Fuck you!" when, *BANG* A Mosin shot. And my captor drops dead. I waited for a good few minutes for the sniper to show himself (or herself), but no one appeared. Eventually I wiggled loose of the cuffs, took my stuff (and the bandit's) and was on my way. So to my Mosin wielding Guardian Angel I say thank you for saving my ass.
  21. I was playing on Rhinocrush's server. High ping, but its the highest profile server that actually has a decent population while I'm awake.

    Hunted or Hunter

Kamenka, a little coastal town in the south-west of Chernarus. It wasn't the best spawn I've ever had, but after my last disastrous trip into Electro I figured it was time to change things up. The first house I run into is a treasure trove: Water bottle, screwdriver, backpack and enough canned food to last a few good hours. I was feeling good. And then I hear it. "We know you're in there buddy. We have loaded guns, so come on out slowly or we're coming in shooting." It's a voice from outside. He doesn't sound hostile, conversational infact, as if this was just another day for him. I'm unarmed, not even a fire extinguisher, so I walk out and hit the surrender button, hoping that they don't just shoot me in the face. Four bandits have me surrounded with M4s and they unload me of all my gear, even my starting clothes. And then just as I begin to hope that maybe they were going to let me go i'm told that we'll be going for a little walk. Surrounded on all sides with a gun in my back, i'm taken up into the forests to the north of Kamenka. When we're in the middle of nowhere, they all stop and look at me. The one who spoke before, their leader I guess, tells me that I have twenty seconds to run for my life and then they're coming after me. I could barely believe it. I'd been dragged into a big game hunt, and I was the game. I ran. I ran for my life. Three times I saw them in the distance, chasing, hunting. Three times i barely escaped, chased by the snapping sound of bullets passing my head. They were trying to drive me further north-east, but I would have nothing of it. I defiantly ran straight north and found my saving grace. I glimpse through the trees, a fence with a guard post. It's the Pavlovo Military Base. I run into the base, a dangerous move but I was desperate, and by some miracle stroke of luck, I find a 45 Pistol and a loaded magazine. No longer the helpless prey, was I. Sticking around the base was suicide, so I ran back out into the forest. My hunters had spread out to look for me and I managed to catch one alone. He hadn't seen my yet, so I took my chance. I emptied the gun into his back, firing the last few shots into his body just to make sure he was down for good. Most of his gear was ruined, but now I had an M4. ACOG scope, weapon flashlight and bipod. It was a thing of beauty, and to me it was my way out of this mess. Shots. Snapping. I jump behind the nearest tree just as it's peppered with gunfire. I wait, and let him spend his magazine before peeking out and giving him a bullet sandwich, right down his gullet. Headshots, so his gear was untouched. Now I was fully kitted and hungry for revenge. I heard gunshots in the distance, back towards the military base, and doubled back to check it out. There they were. the last two had set up outside the base and where gunning down everyone that moved. Maybe they'd forgotten about me. if so I was about to remind them. A burst of fire into the back of one them, put him down and sent his friend scurrying from cover. He ran, and I went after him, "Who's hunting who?" I taunted through my mic as he hid in a ditch, firing blindly. We traded shots for a good minute before suddenly he stopped shooting. Did I hit him? I didn't think so. Carefully, I crept out of cover and made my way toward his ditch. He was still there. And what was he doing? Holding up a fire axe as if it would shield him from my bullets. I couldn't believe it. He'd run out of ammo. I told him to drop his axe and his empty gun, and he complied. Then I told him he had 20 seconds to run.

    Hunted or Hunter

Every word of that was true. I gave that last bandit 20 seconds before hunting him the way he and his friends had hunted me. Unlike me, though, he only made it a few metres before I emptied an 20 round mag into his dirty bandit skull

"Friendlies" are just a bunch of lamers

This is the mentality of the Bandit (as it's understood today). You don't KoS because you're a "badass" or anything like that. No, you KoS for one simple reason. You are afraid. You're afraid of other players, so you kill them before they have the chance to kill you, even if they never had any intention of harming you, even if they hadn't even seen you yet, even if they had just spawned and barely had enough gear to fend off starvation let alone a fully armed bandit. And you know what? You should be afraid. Because that particular kind of bandit is my very favorite to kill. I'll see you in Chernarus, buddy...

Killing a 3-man friendly group unarmed

Difference between DayZ friendly and DayZ Pacifist. Friendly = Wont KoS, but will respond to hostility with deadly force. Pacifist = Wont KoS and responds to hostility by bending over and taking it up the cornhole like a champ.
