8 months?? Optimistic, you are. Now that we started beating the same dead horse, I started remembering how it used be in old days. Almost every day posts from devs with new items and stuff. Sneak peeks, pics from devs doing pranks in office... Now, its miracle to see "server maintance" tweet once a week. Official forum threads are dead for months, tweeter accounts are dead (Hicks blocked me but Im sure not even he posts anything). Yes we have status reports but they are copy/paste. Feels like game is abandoned even by its devs.... Sad.

This topic will be locked soon, as soon as Boneboys wakes up. Game pretty much staled after .59 and new vehicles (that barely work after year and a half). New render is cool and all but this game needs new stuff to keep players interested. All this stuff we now have were in dayz mod back in 2012 when the whole concept was new and exiting. If you look around, there arent even new dayz clones around. Players went to "king of the hill" type of games. Devs really missed their chance to keep the game alive sometime in early 2015. I will probably be banned again for writing this but I dont care any more. Dayz iz present for 4 years in one shape or another and since changing from mod to standalone it really didnt give much new content. New weapons and new towns are cool, but nothing really changed the way people play this game (spawn-gear up-coastal PVP-repeat). Im affraid BI wont sell more then 50.000 copies when game is finished, no one will be interested any more.

We didnt sign for like one ot two update per year. Making devblogs is least devs could do.

Will this dynamic shadow thing work other way around? What I mean is: buildings are always lightened inside, even if there only few windows or doors where light can get trough. It should be dark inside most of buildings, especially if all doors are closed. Imagine you go in building, dark inside, and you stumble into 3 zeds that start screaming at same time and hitting you. That would be "ooooh shiiiit!!!" factor we lack in this game.

They will just make up new excuses like: AAA games take 15 years to finish, we are in development only 2 months (because everything before .60 doesnt count), or road map is not written in stone, or we never said beta in 2016. Or things like that.

I went trough Dubky and part of Cherno and saw only one zombie. In that time I found 5 or 6 weapons.

found YT channel that showcases upcoming dayz things

I saw video of M249 a while ago. Russians cracked game to the core. There was video with upcoming base building stuff, dirt bike and Skoda van. As soon as devs push things to game files they dig it out and try it. -

Lot of stuff on those servers are ported from Arma 2 or 3. It will be like that when moding becames legal -
Awesome video. Iritating at the moments. Map looks great, or at least he went to nicer part of map (I always get stuck norts where is nothing interesting). Camouflaged cars - great idea (we could at least have camo neting). Infected dogs - great (I hope wolves work in SA). Blood - I like when he bleeds all over the place. Zombies in fog - we are yet to see that in SA. I found only 3 zombies in .60 so far. Somehow I like Arma3 zombies more than SA. Underground hideout looks awesome, reminded me of STALKER. Dont know why underground bunkers in Severograd base are deleted, they looked good. Basement in Tisy seams to work as well. Enhanced movement (climbing over walls and on some surfaces) is awesome, hope it finds its way to SA. All in all, good video with lots of things Id like to see in dayz one day.

we got our asses kicked that time but we had some good kills.
-
I did something like that, but in Exile. I killed a guy and placed land mine on his corpse. It was dark and he was in tall grass. After few minutes he went to loot his corpse and... bloom, kill massage!!
-
Some crashed cargo planes around map would be nice.
-
Maybe new upcoming "Scout" sniper rifle
-
Ideas for corpses are great. In dayz sub-mods it was possible to study corpse a find out how he died (bullet or zombie ). Can't wait for new infected animations, that was kinda neglected

DayZ Standalone Base Building is almost here! How do you plan to use it?
igor-vk replied to DR. IRISHMIKE's topic in General Discussion
If devs make it right, it should be. Dayz gives us posibility to do what you want in game and where you want. You can have PvP wars in Electro but in same time someone on other part of map is fishing and making leather mocasines. Third guy is neck deep in zombies in Pavlovo and forth guy is just cruising in his Volga sedan. -

I think you are wrong. If you want to transport 40 foot container you can use V3S chasis truck. You will need portable electric generator to power big crane to lift it. All that machinery makes a lot of noise and attracts infected and players. So it will be team effort and it will take a lot of planing and coordination. You will need a clan. If you dont have clan, you can collect logs, boards, pallets, scrap metal or things like that and build small shelter for 2 or 3 players max (if you do have a clan, then you need bigger base). -

Bases should be protection against zeds and predator animals, more than players. And there should be some base-specific items that you couldnt buid without base, like meat drying or water reservoars. There should be chance that bear or wolf destroys your tent in middle of woods if he smells food inside. Base building on high pop public servers will be hard with all pvp hungry players. I think it will be better on private role playing servers with some rules. Anyway, it will be hard to balance it and to make it work and to get to majority of players to like it. -
There is alcohol factory in Vybor I think. Wouldnt it be cool if there was some leftover machinery that we can repair and proces alcohol there. And only there, so it is place where all drunks in Chernarus will go. If we speak cigarets and marihuana, I think there is use for them. Imagine a day that you spent being chased by infected, predator animals and asshole KOSers and when you finaly get back to your secret base you are under a lot of stress, shaking, every inch of your body hurts. There is nothing better than glass of mooonshine and smoke to make you somewhat relaxed. I think survivor/RP players would apriciate this.
-
What about new player conrler? Is this still scheduled for .61?
-
Building in dayz will be very hard to balance. It should be complicated to build a Base. It should take a lot of time and resources. Dayz must be different from rust/Ark/epoch/Exile!! But having base should bring you benefits. You can hide a vehicle in a Base, you can cook food and do crafting without fear of getting sniped. You are safe from zombies and animals. I think it will require a lot of balancing, testing and feedback from players to make it right.

Sometimes is better to be wrong about some things. I hope there is enough servers for everyone.
-
I have impression there won't be update at all...
-
I doubt that this is posible in this engine, but it would cool if we could see materials loaded in trucks/cars (pick-up in future). Like if you see Ural loaded with logs and plancks and follow it and see "huge" base being built. Or if we have to instal/place every component one at the time, no pre-built objects that can fit in backpack (like in epoch/exile). That would chase away all the CoD kids and KOSers from survival servers. And it will give experienced players more things to do. I built base in exile in 15 minutes, but it would be better if it would take days to baricade one barn or weeks to baricade big industriam building.

Needs more zombies!!! :)

You wait and we will play.
