An Issue with the New Spawns AKA "The Kamyshovo Massacre"
Imbalanxd replied to wgaf's topic in General Discussion
These guys are actually likely to bring about the fixes needed to lessen the impact of spawn camping. The more they do their work, the more dean and co will know what they want to do about it. -

The M4 sound is very bad, along with the ballistics

You want it to be like a real weapon? Ok then, if you fire it without earplugs you go deaf. Yay realism over gameplay. -

This is already in the game. Shoot someone twice in the torso and the majority of his gear will be destroyed. The only time I've ever seen gear undamaged is when getting a perfectly pristine headshot. Even like a neck shot damages most gear. Either way, this won't stop me from shooting other players on sight. Sure, being able to get someones gear is nice, but honestly, it takes 15 minutes to gear up to the point where you want for nothing, so why would stealing from other players be a concern of mine?

psychological effects of banditry

Imagine this Imagine it took 5-10 bullets to reliably kill someone (not hits, just fired) Imagine the average number of bullets a player had at any point was 10-20 Imagine you actually needed bullets for things other than killing players Hey presto. KoS solved. -
Consider the size of Chernarus, then consider how "apocalyptic" 3000 static zombies would be. Instead of fighting like 3 or 4 as you do now, instead it would be like 10 or 12. Wow. What is really needed is a smarter mechanism for spawning and maintaining zombies.

The standalone isn't running on the ArmA 3 "model". Even if it was, ArmA 3, like ArmA 2, is peer to peer. DayZ is the only example of a Real Virtuality based engine using client server architecture.
-
We don't know that. A major issue with vehicles, even in default ArmA 2, was how they interacted with the netcode. Now that the netcode has been overhauled, we don't know that the vehicles still work.

In my opinion, the current compass is an example of over-design.

Clockface relies on position and heading. Compass relies only on position. Neither are objective or accurate, one is just more objective and more accurate than the other. -

"General direction of movement" assumes that you enter combat as a group and move as a group, which is a good way to instantly die as a group. The only way to get even half objective and accurate directions is with a compass. Clockface may be better than nothing, but a compass is vastly superior. -

The main benefit to a compass is during combat. -

I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, it is really annoying having to go first person just to get a tiny glimpse at my compass in order to see where I'm going. On the other hand, this is probably due to how it was displayed in the mod, and we have simply grown accustom to that. In reality, you can't really run and use a compass at the same time. The needle will bounce all over the place. Try and remove from your memory the way the compass functioned in the mod, and compare it instead to how the map functions. You can't very well run and read a map at the same time. In fact, you need to be quite still and vulnerable to read a map. And since the map has always functioned the way is currently does, we accept that. Well, the compass was functioning in a silly way, and now it functions in a better way, but it could still be improved. However, going back to the old flawed way isn't the answer. In my opinion, the compass should work similarly to how a gun works. Having it out and running with it will give you a rough idea of what its doing. However, if you want to see accurately, you must right click, at which point you will get a much clearer idea of whats going on, but at the cost of peripheral vision and speed. -
Lets see if I have this right... You are disappointed because a game, which you expected to be of the survival genre, has mechanics in it which make it very difficult to survive. ok bro

The story you just told did not explain how KoS started, it explained how some dude got KoSd and raged. Jesus you aren't even consistent in your own fairy tale realities.

Stopped there. That's exactly what it means. By all means, inform people of the bugs. Explain the bugs. Provide information about the bugs. But don't complain about them. Why? Because its an alpha. What could you possibly hope to accomplish by complaining about bugs in an alpha? What could your complaint possibly be? Why is this bug still in the game? Because its a fucking alpha.

I played the mod on my laptop 8 gigs ram GTX 460M i7 2.1 ghz (cant remember model) I got around 40-50 FPS normally, and it dropped to around 15 when I spawned a ton of zombies.

The drinking wells in DayZ need to be contaminated like other water sources are. At the moment they are trivialising the thirst mechanic, and make it far too easy to head north not even 5 minutes into a player's life.
-
My last life lasted about 7 or so hours, during which I ran from Elektro, to NWAF, across to NEAF, to Berezino, across to the top of Cherno, and back to the NWAF. During that entire trek, I drank from a water bottle, canteen or cola can a total of zero times. I never once needed to. Never. That is a gameplay defect.
-
I guarentee that at any one time, there are more can openers on the map than there are M4s.

The recommended daily intake of water is 3.7 litres for an 18+ male. Now since DayZ isn't exactly set in optimum conditions, lets say we can half that amount to 2 litres. So that's 2 kg of water that you need per day. Lets be optimistic and say that the food you are eating is pretty damn moist and has a water content at consumption of 20%. That would mean you would need to eat 10kg of solid food per day in order to get your water intake requirements done (not counting the water required to digest that 10kg of food). That is far too much food to be eating on a daily basis. When you think of water, you probably only think of the clear stuff that comes out of a tap. Anything liquid is water. Coke is probably upwards of 95% water.
