A bambis first Kill! Do you feel the adrenaline?
comikz replied to gradth's topic in New Player Discussion
I to get these rushes you talk about, my friends and I when we come across others we adopt this black ops mindset and go full stealth, it's a thrill stalking someone until the point of blowing their brains out or if they run/fight it makes it more enjoyable to me. -
To read/watch guides or not to and learn 1st hand?
comikz replied to -MadTommy's topic in New Player Discussion
I ALWAYS like reading the guides or watching tips/hints posted by people on YouTube, I find it really helpful so that I'm not starting the game in a fettle position, wondering what to do, and rocking back and forth or in the case of DayZ not knowing important commands or whatever when coming into contact with another player or zombie. But I suppose it would be fun just to dive in and play, it's just I personally prefer to have a solid grasp on a game so that my first moments of play are enjoyable. -
10 minute is not enough to loot dead bodies you put down
comikz replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
The reason they are putting a limit on corpse-time is not to force people to act quickly to loot it, the reason is that they don't want you to be able to consistently run back once you respawn and be auto-geared in your new life, yes this doesn't stop the people who travel in packs and can loot their friends body and return the items, so this has more of an impact on soloists who travel alone and kill alone. The time seems a bit short to me, maybe 30 mins max? But with the current gear in-game, it's not going to kill you to have to re-gear, well I guess it could but, YOLO! :P -
Look this happens to everyone, and everyone keeps making the same ol thread over and over and over... And yes it's early alpha, and there isn't a lot going on at the moment, and once you've geared up and have your inventory sorted, there's really nothing else to do. Besides if you know people are going to run to Elektro when they freshly spawn, how about going the opposite way, make a run for the tree's and go into the woods and find a town to loot. People make the mistake early on to stick to the coast and never go far inland, go explore and perhaps you won't run into anyone who is going to shoot you.

Well I hit you up with a Sub/Like, good video man, horrible that you got shot at the end, but I enjoyed watching.

I like the idea of Corpse Despawns, is 10 Mins too short/long, I am really unsure. I agree with people wanting to maintain tactics/stealth and not rushing a fresh body to loot it, since in most cases someone close by heard the shots, and is doing the same thing and looking for loot... But I also see the whole things meshing well with the Perma-death thing, currently getting killed is no real pain because you can just run back and grab your stuff, granted it's not all gone by the time you get back. So yes I am for it so it helps with the PD mechanic, but I am also on the fence/against it being 10 mins, because as people said, it would blow tactic use away, because you would have to rush the area if you want that loot. All in all I like the way the game is shaping, good stuff devs/team.

I'm going to say somethings that I pretty sure that others are going to say in reply to this thread. NO. As stated in other threads adding any sort of identifying in-game mark/name ect. so that players can easily pick out a Bandit vs. a Hero is out of the question, and I am pretty sure that with the amount of Bandits/KoS'rs on this game their faces would be nothing but scars, nothing else but scars. So again, NO.

Legs do infact break, you'll know if your leg(s) is broke if all you guy/gal does is crawl in the prone position, only available fixes now are Morphine injector pens and Splints, or crawl helplessly around until a Zombie/Player finds and kills you.

I've died due to eating a piece of fruit that appeared NOT to be rotten, but was. I've been "Mistakenly" glitched off of the top of a roof by a "Friend", only to fall to my death. Fallen off of a ladder that my survivor obviously felt it was better to let go of, instead of hanging onto until I reached the ground safely, lol. Ohh and ofcoarse died a few times as a new player due to not knowing the commands properly. So far haven't died due to another player or a zombie, although my friends and I play on a smaller population server which reach 17 - 20 / 40 at primetimes (Most of which I suspect are server hoppers looting and leaving.) Funny stuff, right?

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
comikz replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
No. Labling players as a Hero or a Bandit would greatly diminish in-game mechanics and experiences, try to observe people, take notice of their actions and how their dressed, most people who want to play the "Bandit" roll will dress accordingly with bandanas and those strange looking masks, and from my experience "Hero" type players will dress in military clothing and use open comms when approaching someone. But it pays to be cautious of anyone you see. -
I could see dual-wielding certain weapons, but not all, you have to take things like item weight, or recoil from guns into account. I could see it for things no bigger than Baseball bats when it comes to Melee, as axes are much heavier and would cause you to loose out on aiming a hit. Low caliber handguns might be an idea, but definetly not the magnum lol... But certain things would be sacrificed while dual-wielding such as, accuracy and some damage when it comes to melee weapons. I am not 100% against your suggestion, but, I am not 100% with it either.

It's not the Bandits who are to blame, it's the KoS spawn/coast campers who are. If you do not want to get killed as often, improve your level of skill, be more cautious or find a lower populated servers, and avoid places like NWAF/Cherno/Elektro/NEAS ect. during prime time for that server. I personally enjoy the threat that Bandits/KoS'rs give to my gameplay, it makes me act more thoughtfully and take notice of more things before just charging into a place, and as this game grows, there will be more to do and thus lowering the amount of times Bandits/KoS'rs kill people, because there will be more to do, like base building, those Bandits/KoS'rs won't be wanting to draw attention to them from a vengfull player or players who find their base and take revenge, lol...

These PvM/PvE "Friendlies Only". game players, make me wonder why they came to a game such as DayZ in the first place...
-
I'm against anything like this, because to me DayZ is a game where realism comes into play, would it be great to be able to find your friends/squad faster and more effecient, yea, but it would dumb it down, I like having to find each other, communicate over Teamspeak or whatever, it makes it fun for me and others obviously, I want to be challenged and I don't want to be spoon fed or have my hand held by some fancy in-game tracker or other simular things. Heck I don't even like to use most of the maps you can find on the net, because most tell you what spawns where, and takes the surprise out of finding that shiny new gun or stumbling upon your first military base or airfield.

Great read, I enjoyed it!
