I've come across several people in-game claiming that wearing no feet gear reduces their walking/running sound on surfaces such as floors/rocks/roads ect. To which I reply with taking off my boots, running across the road and it sounding like I have boots on, so no it gives you no benefit at all.

Feedback about shootgun. Another frustrating episode
comikz replied to GunnyITA's topic in General Discussion
I use the Sawn-off Shootgun as my secondary with my SKS, it is by far one of the best if not THE BEST for clearing buildings such as apartments and police depts. I typically prefer it over the pistols unless I am trying to be "Stealthy" and in that case I use the FNX. -
I used to think that anyone wearing a Payday/Gasmask was indeed a "Bandit" and as such considered "Hostile" but I have learned that these people either are just fans of the Payday series of games, or in the case of the Gasmask they believe it "Looks" cool. I tend to observe these people from a distance and try and decipher if they are indeed "Friendly" such as watching them when they notice another player, and so forth, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, even if it costs me my life.

Why is development time being poured into more new towns?
comikz replied to uberfrag's topic in General Discussion
I like how the map is shaping up, I wouldn't want the map to become too "Americanized" to the point of being another Vegas or anything of that sort. I would however love to see larger buildings such as three-story shopping centers and factories and such, that would be interesting to see. I also like that they are adding in new towns/villages or cities because the map gets quiet dull after 1035 hours of gameplay, lol... -

Random sniper near Khelm and surviving a shot in the back
comikz replied to Ironclad11's topic in General Discussion
I've seen people saved by having cans of food in their vest/pants and being able to absorb more damage than they should be before being rendered unconscious/bleeding/dead. -
Clothing doesn't make the player, his or her actions do. I have met the most friendliest people dressed up in Full-Military gear with a M4 in their hands and a Mosin on their back. I have also ran into people such as yourself who go for a "Friendly" appearance and are the biggest A-Holes I have ever met, period. What I am trying to say here is, dressing a certain way isn't going to change the fact that your another player in a game where people PvP and KoS on a regular basis, they don't care what you have or what your wearing, all they care about it taking out whomever they come across. If your trying to RP a "Friendly" survivor might I recommend that you take a look at the Mod's Hero Skin and try your best to outfit yourself to mirror it. But like I said, it's not what you wear, it's what you DO with that gear that makes you who you are.

Svetlo/Berezino/NEAF Since the spawn points have been changed everyone is there on high/max pop servers, All the action seems to take place around the School and North up to the small hill NW of the Police Dept. and a lot of snipers tend to camp near either the treeline west of those Apartments near the Church, or on/in the Apartments themselves.

I'de love to attach the Mosin Bayonet to the stick used to craft the Improvised Bow, and end up with an Improvised Javelin of sorts, would be funny/awesome to just pin someone down with that, lol...
-
I would like to suggest that the modes of fire be displayed in the same box as the zero distance is while wielding a gun, as in. - Full Auto - Semi-Auto - Single Shot - Double Shot As it isn't displayed already, and would help people who either forgot what mode they have their gun set to, or people who accidently hit the T button while typing or in my case, having one of my cats stroll across my keyboard, lol...

Character Wipe/Reset is Annoying and must be top priority to fix.
comikz replied to TheLoneSurvivior's topic in General Discussion
You do know that your character stays in-game for 30 seconds after you log out right? In that time you could have been spotted by a player or had your head caved in by zombies, in the 996 hours I have played the standalone, I have had my character reset twice, where it came up with some error message saying my character wasn't able to be loaded in properly and was reset. Make sure your not logging off in a commonly traveled area, and your in a spot zombies can't just run to and maul you. Besides that, never ever get attached to your gear, it comes and goes, and really isn't hard to re-gear yourself. -
I find my Mosin/SKS in: Schools Corner Two-story Pubs Police Dept. Tech Buildings Piano Buildings The Two-story Buildings w/ Blue-metal shutter on the front Long Barns Rifty Also if your going after Military gear to blend/camo in, just go with a blend of Green/Olive/Brown toned gear, or if you/your squad play mostly in Urban settings, go with Grey/Black/Blue toned gear.

Being new to the game I would recommend using the M4A1, since it has a larger capacity for ammo (up to 60 round mags.) it is a lot more forgiving than the SKS which chambers 10 rounds and requires placing your shots in your target correctly (upper chest / head or legs if you intend on crippling them.) so I would venture to North-west Airfield or Balota Airfield and grab all Pristine parts for it (MP Handguard/Buttstock + ACOG + Bipod + Suppressor) for the best accuracy with it. But I will say that the SKS deals more damage takes around 2 to 3 shots from the M4 to equal 1 from the SKS, but like I said, you need to aim and place your shots alot more with the SKS since you have only 10 to use before reloading, unless you have a decent amount of stripper clips to run through.

Found one yesterday at NEAF, had a skull on the grip, pretty snazy.

Why is everyone an A$$hole when playing dayz?
comikz replied to TranquilityEden's topic in General Discussion
It's already been stated that non-PvP servers will NEVER exist, people who label the servers they RENT as Friendly-only/no-KoS only attract more people who aren't friendly and who in fact KoS all the time. I understand your frustration about being killed, but maybe try not joining highly populated servers or try not to run around where your visible from every angle, and as others have said, attempt to find a positive squad or clan that can offer you assistance, the one I am in is great and always helps out newspawns that don't try to mike tyson them, lol... -
Yeah they spawn too much stuff, you can go through either Balota or NWAF in the tents and get yourself enough parts to kit out a few M4's and Mosins in no time, not to mention mags for your sidearms up the ying-yang, I filled two 300 round boxes with M4 ammo in like 1 1/2 runs through just the tents alone, lol..

How to pack 600 rounds of 5.56 in a 300 round ammo can
comikz replied to DVNelson's topic in New Player Discussion
I couldn't agree more with you Ash, it's just the OP was trying to help people with something he/she felt helpful and someone barges in with some unwanted response that's all, and I also agree and I use this and I sport a M4 as my primary, but I don't use unlimited blah blah, because that's hacking and hacking is bad, I've come across people who have like 10k stacks of M4 ammo and unlimited mags and I just hide the body, because things like that have no place here. -
There are plenty of friendly people in the game, it's just most of them are pressing the respawn button after trying to make contact with another group or person, lol... No but seriously there are friendlies out there, it's just a lot of people give into the whole, "Well I've been kos'd too much so I am now going to kos!" mentality and hopefully you can stay strong and even if you get shot up or beat to death, keep going on and be friendly to people who you meet.

Voice communication can be heard up to 80 meters. Text communication can be seen on your screen, or anyone else's up to 50 meters.

The SKS is more of a pick-up and go type of gun, the only real attachment that you need for it is the PU Scope, even then you can do just fine using the Iron Sights on it. It's true that the M4 is pretty lack-luster until you have attained all the right parts for it, but I find it more to my liking, because it allows me a wider spectrum of roles when engaging a target. However, with the Grenade attachments coming out sometime for the M4, I can see A LOT of people using it just for the purpose of blowing crap up... All in all tho, when the AKM is released I will be dropping my M4 and picking that gun up.

They removed the south coast spawns such as Elektro and Kamy, so most people are too afraid to PvP farther from where they can run back to and get their gear back. So that means from Solnichy Quarry up to Northern Berezino are the hotspots as far as the "Bulk" of the action, yeah if you venture up to Rifty/Svetlojarsk and even NEAF you will find people Pvping there, but not in the amount you'll see in the previously mentioned areas. Pvp still is active on the south coast, however the people who venture down there and up to the north, are usually the ones who lay in wait, for someone else to fire off their gun or giveaway their cover.

I abide by the Hero's Code of conduct mainly, there are sometimes where it is really hard to be the "Hero" in DayZ, and due to all the media publicity (Forums/YouTube/Twitch) people have grown close to the idea that if you encounter another player, your dead if you don't shoot first ask questions later, and they straight out call you a liar if you say your "Friendly" or your a "Hero". But I do respect people who abide by a code, be it a Bandit, or someone who likes to shoot everything that moves, we all follow some sort of parameters when we play, and these people with all their different playstyles and codes/rules ect. make DayZ enjoyable to me, because if we all played the same, and felt the same about it all, this game wouldn't be as fun as it is now.

I usually come across two friendly people per ten people I meet, lol.. On very rare occasions I will meet fully kitted out people who want nothing more than a person to talk with while they go around, which is nice. But always be on your toes and never drop your guard, just because someone is friendly now, doesn't mean they will be when they come across ammo/guns or believe they have the upper hand at the time. But to get back on track, yes there are genuinely friendly honest people on this game, kitted or not, who are more than willing to have someone tag along, because playing alone gets lonely quick. Best of luck in finding those friendly people!

please tell me rocket wont be adding horror aspect to the game
comikz replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
I personally would fully enjoy more horrifically-gruesome content added into the game, something that makes me frightened and left shocked and puzzled when I see/hear it. I mean this is a post-apoc horror/zombie survival game, adding in more blood and guts and freakishly odd noises and sights would only be natural, and I am sure bandits are getting pretty tired of the usual handcuff/burlap sack/force feed rotten fruit ruitine, -
You didn't do anything wrong, I wouldn't have fought them either, a group that size kitted out in the way you mentioned vs. you and your two random friendlies wouldn't have done so great, you guys might have taken out maybe two of them, and that's only if your group got the drop on them, but since they seen you first, and mosins being as deadly as they are, you wouldn't have made it out alive.
