I was having a similar issue with Shadowplay not recording. I reinstalled the latest stable drivers, then redirected Shadowplay from saving on my external hard drive to a new internal I threw in. No issues since then. I read somewhere that some people where having issues recording depending on where the save directory was. This is on an EVGA Geforce GTX 760 Dual SC w/ACX Cooler.

Which DayZ Standalone resources do you use?
blecter replied to marsmars's topic in General Discussion
I use DayZDB for connecting with others (finding names/what general direction we need to go in to meet). My regular buddies and I know the general map now, so we don't use it that often. If I'm playing solo I just pick a direction and walk that way. -
My friend ran past a place yesterday where someone yelled "Get out of here, this is private property!" in Electro. We went back as tax collectors with M4's and he'd already taken off. Then we got shot there about an hour later. I usually like finding people and seeing what their reactions are. Most of the time my crew will hold up a guy/girl, give him/her some stuff in exchange for things like saline IV's (We're always reasonable), then let him/her go free. The odd time or two we like to see how people react to being held up, then ordered to drop their bag or they will be shot (more bandit style, I know). In those couple of cases we let them live if they comply, and if not we have some fun chasing them down. Note here: we only try this on people with weapons/etc, never new spawns. We arn't that bad haha. I'm still trying to decide which style of play I like better. Being the more "hero/anti-bandit" type is more natural to me, however usually more difficult, whereas being a "Bandit" is something new in general. We'll see which way time takes me.

Half the time now I intentionally run along the roads, whether I'm kitted or not. I spent the first 25-30 hours checking out all the kit/locations. My goal now is to bump into people and see what happens. I'd also recommend bush whacking if you're new-new though.

Current System: Intel i5-4670k @ 4.4GHz ASUS Z87-A Mobo 8 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Dual SC with ACX Cooler (factory OC for now) Running from a Kingston KyperX 3K 240GB SSD Win7 HP 64 Bit I'm usually around 35-45 FPS at any given time running at 1920x1080 with my settings mixed between levels (don't know off the top of my head). Will be rechecking when I play with my GPU speeds. I use Fraps for FPS.

Rust fills the building gap that DayZ leaves, but they're really 2 different focus'/games. I enjoy DayZ much more, however it is lacking in content at this time. Rust is a good temporary filler. I was always told the peeps in Rust were friendlier. Ain't that a joke. I've been KOS'd more there in about 3 hours of playing than I have in 30+ of DayZ. I'm actually thinking of getting Arma 3 after playing the Standalone. No idea if I'll get the same satisfaction, but I'll give it a go. Altis Life looks fun for it too.

most of the people i encounter in the game were like 'hey im recording' lol

Who knows, very well could be, or if they've got an nVidia GTX6/700 GPU and Shadowplay like I do then they can capture x amount of previous minutes of footage even if not recording. It's pretty cool. Been playing around with it the last couple of days. Now, even if they are recording, how many will actually throw it up on the web? Actually taking the time to clean up/edit a clip/vid is something I know a lot of people saw "screw that" to. I've done it. Laziness wins often. Or they're just trying to intimidate. Bluffing scares a lot of people too (if they let themselves believe it/limit themselves). -
What desktop should i purchase to run DayZ SA?
blecter replied to iJakeeeeeee's topic in General Discussion
As mentioned, you can build yourself a pretty good rig, usually at a better price. Loads of tutorials on Youtube (I've seen the bit for the NCIX one - I've always had great experiences with them and would trust their video; haven't watched that one myself). Building for your first time can be intimidating. The reality is that if you can plug a phone charger into a wall, you can build a PC. It's all plug and play. The manual for the ASUS Z87-A motherboard I just got for my new build pretty much walks you through everything you need to do. Read the instructions, and take your time. It's not a race. My last build (built last week) took me 4 hours including installing Windows, and I haven't done one in 6-7 years (and only 1 or 2 before that), and was taking my time. If you're going to step into the realm of overclocking, then you'll want to do some reading to really understand what you're doing there. Things have been made extremely simply these days, but you'll still need a baseline knowledge for it. I just started this myself, with advice from a buddy who has been doing it for years. -
12 gauge slugs do a number on most doors in real life. It's really fun! Explosives do it better obviously.

Anything OD. Been running around with a couple buddies dressed in OD and they're tough to find in any kind of vegetation.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with this. Some areas I lean towards KOS than others, although neither myself nor my crew ever seem to shoot first. We always try to chat, even when we tell each other we're gonna kill the next guys we run into.

How many hours have you played DayZ SA so far?
blecter replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
30 hours here. Can't completely throw away real life... -
I stupidly logged out on the second floor of a jailhouse today up at Green Mountain while waiting for a bud. Spawned back in, ran 10 feet, heard "Don't shoot, I'm friendly", then gunshots, I die, then a voice says "Oh yeah, I'm not really". This guy will not be spawning near civilization again. Lesson learned!

Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the colour fade...

How many people do you kill in a life on average?
blecter replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I've killed 3 in 30 hours of play. First one was my buddy since he was pretty much dead. Took his gear so it was in good shape, hacked off his head, then headed to where he spawned back. Good times haha. The other was a guy who I bumped into in the control tower at the NW airfield. He took off running after I tried to have a nice conversation with him. He got a Mosin round in the back. Third dude was today, but to be honest I think the dude was glitched out. Tried to communicate with him for about 10 minutes (we both opened a door at the same time and then he stayed crouched and didn't move. In that case I was well geared up and solo, so I went with the better safe than sorry route. Ironically I was shot in the same room shortly after. Had a few fun fistfights, but I always loose haha. -
Inland can get a little boring once you're geared to a certain point. If you want gear then skip the coast and head inland first thing. My crew usually heads in and gears up, then decides what to do. Today a bud and myself decided to take a run through Electro to Cherno to Balota while semi geared up. Had a great encounter with a pair of players who we believe were trying a bait tactic (one dude runs up yelling friendly while the other acts as a sniper). When shots started flying we took out the bait guy and pulled back (we only had 1 gun between the 2 of us). I imagine others head in to gear up, then go back to the coast where all the action is as well. I can't condone buddy coming back to kill you. My crew would probably have cuffed you, gave you food and drink, and let you go. What can I say, we're nice people. Unless you shoot at us.
