That may be true, but how many people are interested in playing a game where you can't find a gun, can't find ammo, barely find food/axe? Game sales would not be where they are at if scarcity of a weapon is so common. I have zero desire to run around weaponless out in a small town, interacting with someone who has an axe and is going to split my noggin in 2 and the only defense i have is to double tap W. This game needs weapons. It just needs a reasonable deployment method.

It maybe hard but im staying on the side of good..I wont resort to KOS...the human element makes this game super fun Maybe we should interview him in 2 weeks to see if he is still on the light side. Personally, I think he will stray to the dark side. Muah Muahaha MUAHAHAHAAAAAA!

LOL! Its common sense, really. 2 guys with m4's. Who is going to be let go: the jerk or the guy who's funny/cool?

When I first started playing Dayz, it was head to toe in green camo, gas mask, M4/Mosin, shitton of ammo, every item known to man, backpack, vest, cargo pants. After a month, it was the same, but wolf mask. I wanted to be camo'ed and scare the crap out of the kiddies. Now, after 190 hours of gameplay, I wear shorts, a orange or yellow jacket, sunglasses, no backpack, vest, army boots and look like I just escaped a looney asylum. I carry the base essentials: No water- I can find that in town. I carry food or use you to take your food (maybe 4 cans on me, if that) M4 / SKS / Mosin - just 1 weapon. Carrying more than that just benefits my killer more Ammo - probably 80 to 100 rounds for the M4/SKS. Maybe 50 for the Mosin No backpack- I can hide better without it and less loot means whoever kills me benefits less Orange jacket- Dayz is all about fashion Since bullets usually hit my upper body, I usually put my ammo in my vest, so it will be ruined if I die. I dont wear a helmet anymore. Personally, I think a helmet is crap and doesnt do anything since I usually died in 1 to 2 rounds when I did wear a helmet. Now I wear a cap or hat with a respirator (respirator looks cool as beans) that matches my outfit. Dayz fashion is #1. I'm always at healthy. When I drop down, I grab my food/water. I carry the base essentials knowing I will die soon. I also do it so I dont leave a lot of loot for my killer. So I play on the edge of dying every day now. I dont get too attached to stuff since I dont carry a lot and/or I opportunistic kill for loot as well. I never get upset when I die because I dont get attached to my stuff/player. Playing this way is the most fun for me. Anyone else like this?

Actually, the color doesn't come into play much since if I'm hiding, I use a tree/wall/fence (anything but grass...grass goes away to flat ground after about 70ft) so people rarely see me anyways. Plus, I've learned to slow down and not make movement/unnecessary movement while in the city and that cuts down visibility as well. Best way to approach the game is to see them first before they see you. Btw- if you must use a backpack, you use the hunter backpack. Much smaller so when you are laying flat, it looks like a rock as opposed to an enormous backpack. 5 or 6 less slots, but not a big deal.

Good story. 2 nights ago, me and and a friend saw a bambi and wanted to talk with him. He hid in the grass but we found him. Now, coming from the school of hard knocks in Dayz, we immediately handcuffed him and started asking questions. The guy was pretty cool and funny so we joked with him, gave him a bunch of food, medicine and off he went after he freed himself. So that goes to the kiddies- have a cool personality and you might not get shot. You'll probably get food and stuff for being cool.

it makes it more fun. more risky but more fun. as for bambis, im always on the looked out now that ive been punched out like Rocky IV and unconscious to have all my gear stolen. if one gets close, i dont even hesitate to start shooting. Im like Val Kilmer in Heat when I see bambis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIyny9rMPM4

The developers of this game completely missed the pt, if you want my honest opinion. Issue- 99% of guns show up at military bases or AF. So naturally, people go there. When a server resets, everything is dumped in its slots, so people farm until its gone. FIX: 1. make guns appear in other spots as well. the ak-47 is the most popular gun on earth- and sold the most in russia- you're telling me its not realistic for it to appear in a house? 2. make weapons/loot appear randomly in any building, so its unknown where it will appear...ie...guns in homes, etc...not just in MB or AF's. 3. make loot appear at random times, just not at the start of the game so there's no need to find "a fresh server" Implement these ideas and SH dies right there. When Im a bambi and I see 38/40 server, I skip it and go to a low pop server like everyone else in the world. So thats kind of like SH'ing as well, so lets all get off our high horse and quit preaching.

So frame rate dropped to nearly unplayable levels last night in the 2 above mentioned cities. Anyone having this issue? Is it the game or the server? I jumped to another after Berezino was garbage and it improved, but later became worse at Guba.
-
if people want to SH, let them. much like if someone wants to run around without a weapon for 22 hours and with a can of beans, let them. SH or not SH all comes down to how someone plays Dayz. Some need weapons, some don't. I used to SH all the time. Now I dont. I dont feel the need. I can go to a low pop server and gear up in 40 mins. So nothing has changed. The only thing now is my favorite bar in Dayz has the servers I regularly play on. Thats about it.The timer doesnt annoy me at all. These anti-SH threads mixed in with killings always crack me up. So? You killed someone? How's that different than normal play? And you're camping an AF waiting for what you think are SHoppers? Awesome.

i only like HC servers. i have an immense dislike for the 3rdp exploit.

What is, or will be, the point of this game?
DirtyscumbagLith replied to Alex Leonhart's topic in New Player Discussion
objective? probably not kick your dog after youre fully geared and die. that's a pretty good objective. -
I had a regular server character and then a hardcore server character. Both were separate. Then I died on a regular server and when I flipped back on to regular later that evening, my hardcore character appeared. To make this more confusing, I joined a hardcore server as a bambi (while my original hc character was still alive), geared up and when I flip to hardcore, I either load in with the original hd character and sometimes with the newly created hc character. So my question is how do I know what servers support each character? Are there any tags that show that Im unaware of? Weird to have 2 different hc characters. I imagine its a hive thing, but any way of knowing?

i dress in any way that distinguishes me to my friends. since i usually play with 2 to 4+ people, i want them to make sure they know its me and dont shoot me. i found too many people all in camo with either a mask or gas mask on. now i stay away from that. i even stay away from helmets- either ballcap, snow hat, beanie or camo dorag. i never found the helmets to help squat since its usually a 1 round to 5 round insta-death anyways. right now, im dressed in black cargo pants, black top, vest and b b cap. i imagine ive live for 1 to 2 days, get killed and start my fashion police search all over again.

10 hours and still without a weapon? ummm.....

Server Hopping has become godlike post patch
DirtyscumbagLith replied to ASDF991's topic in General Discussion
Most of these ideas suck. Newsflash- I dont want to be stuck playing on a server at times with just 2 people. I also dont want to play on a server at times with 40 people. I should decide where I get to play. Calm down 3rd reichers. jeez. the countdown is fine. i used to sh to find weapons. personally, i think most did. but whatever. i cant be happier with this patch. i found the m4 3 times last night and i didnt hop once. yaa for me. bad for you. lol. -
I think i shit myself 4 times in a row when that thunder suddenly clapped above me.

I have to admit, that is badass.

Map *Fairly upto date* of the entire SA including loot.

I use this to get around since I rarely find/use a compass. I find the loot locations to be mostly inaccurate. Has anyone found weapons on that island near Kammy? -
A new idea to stop the "kill-on-sight" mentality
DirtyscumbagLith replied to Beetlejuice (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Thank God because I didnt want this to turn in World of Warcraft. Sew your pants to pristine, read a book to learn how to craft an m4, use the auction. F that. -
right or wrong. guilty or not giving a shit. Up to you. i think it would be more fun to hunt people. track them without being seen, sneak up to them, etc...there's a lot you can do. shoot the wall they are close to and watch them shit their pants. i was in Story last night and tracked a guy fully geared around the town. it was a hardcore server and apparently, this guy didnt look over his shoulder once. i must have tracked him for 25 minutes. then when i had enough, a sniped him. i took a ton of usable loot from him. ive had my fair share of bambi slayings, but after a while, it gets dull because there's nothing to gain from it. just me tho. im not preaching. i fully get the "thrill of the kill" thing that your dayz purist will preach against. do whatever floats your boat, but start thinking of ways of making it fun. to me, there's nothing more fun than tracking someone and getting real close to them all while they cant see you. youre in charge (mostly) of the situation and hope someone else doesn't enter the equation. sometimes it happens and thats part of the thrill. good luck out there.

A new idea to stop the "kill-on-sight" mentality

I read a book about killing people for their loot. NY Times bestseller. 22 weeks straight.
