    losing blood.

the way i understand it is this: you were shot or attacked by a zombie. you bled a lot. that depleted your health. so you need to get blood in you. its tricky as you: 1.) need to find a blood test kit. test your blood, O-, O+, B+? 2.) find a team mate who will let you take his blood. or gather a bunch of guys, grab a bambi and do it by force. 3.) you need the correct blood in you, so you have to test their blood to make sure it matches yours 4.) if its not the right blood type, you go unconscious or die. i got shot last night and bled significantly. everything was blurry. my team mates gave me an IV, but that just made it colorful and blurry. the whole blood thing is a total pain in the ass. i usually just suicide if it happens. running around blurring is crippling, imo.

    I'm a dirty little hoarder

I think if they added diabetes to the game, lots would be in trouble.

    New playstyle: Stalking strangers

This sounds very fun to do. I've done it a few times, usually running parralel with them in the treeline, but usually get spotted. If they play like me, I am constantly moving my head while running. Challenging but fun.

Already frustrated, new player needs advice

strangely, i dont get upset when I die or fall off a ladder or log in and my character is holding only a flashlight. farming is part of the game. ive died enough to embrace that. get too attached to worldy possessions, isn't their a king lear quote in there somewhere? this game forces me to think smart tactically. if you don't, you die. ive done plenty of bonehead "im in the open- lookit me!" routines and now i use stealth as a #1 advantage for myself. when i die, i run immediately to an airfield to get a gun. from there, i can gather clothing, ammo, food, drink, helmet, scary mask etc.... i kind of have the mentality that nothing matters until i have a gun. what would piss you off more- spending hours gathering food and drink without a weapon and dying- someone taking it all, or having a gun, ammo and defending what you spent an hour collecting? dunno about you, but without a gun, all you can really do is make a mean face. that doesnt help survival. i also have the map up on a 2nd screen and use it quite a bit. ive been carrying more food lately, less water because i typically drink at the towns. and drinking in the towns is drink only- run up, crouch, hit F 30 times and then bolt out of there. so many times i roll up and 2 dudes are eating near the water- now how do you think that goes? me with weapon in hand, them with crunchy cereal in their hands? get in and get out quick to live longer. in the beginning, everything was about looking scary. those clown masks are great, but im shying away from them. why? because they are white. ive spotted people in bushes hiding with them on. now its all about light or dark green. no colored backpacks. i try for that hunter one because it blends in. always assume someone is watching you. always. ive been killed on a 7 person server. last night, my friend got killed on a 4 man server. as that guy shot my buddy, he immediately went to loot him, so all i had to do was aim and pop pop pop. why assume the town is clear? if he looked for a 4 second period, he would have seen me standing across the road. i wasnt even hidden. now he's dead and i have more food and ammo than i know what to do with. great for me, sucks for him. not to be a misanthrope, but i dont trust people. been burned too much, so when i see someone, i watch to see what they are doing. i only engage if its a clean shot. i rarely talk to anyone because you simply cant trust them. i usually game with 6+ guys all in our group. they do the same. what are you going to gain by helping someone? so they dont die? dying is part of the game, and if you know how many times you've died in this game since you started playing, you're not a veteran. youre gonna die- A LOT. so do everything you can do ensure you survive. someone doesnt know how to heal? yell at them to use google. lol. but keep them at a distance. i keep bambis at a distance. not sure if its new, but ive been knocked out unconscious 4 times in a matter of 3 days. so now bambis are a threat. i know this forum likes to do a hands-across-America for bambis and their rights, but a player with nothing has nothing to lose, so they are more aggressive than a stacked player w/ gun. so keep them at a distance. if they ignore your command to stop, gun them down because they clearly arent up to any good. dont get annoyed everytime you die. farming is part of the fun, so embrace it. its a pretty fun game. i do get annoyed when i fall off a stair case or spawn in with nothing when i was stacked. but eeh, it is alpha. honestly, im more annoyed trying to fill my 2nd canteen after 5 attempts and not successfully doing so, lol.

    Thinking of being helpful? Don't...

I see both points. 1.) the bambi could suckpunch him, knock him out, and take his stuff + pistol 2.) why engage in conversation if you're going to kill someone? I see both sides. I've seen plenty of youtube videos of guys getting shot when all they were doing is being friendly and trying to help. The more stuff I gather, the more I dont trust people. I think thats the game motto. I recently had a player pretty stocked up minus a gun (he had an axe) beg me to heal him. I thought "this guy has plenty of stuff- he doesn't at the most basic level have a tshirt?" And how much of a problem are zombies to a stacked player? None of it added up, so I killed him. It seemed like a trick- as I'm healing him, he can arm his axe and chop me. Why take the risk? I dont know this player. Better safe than sorry. He's not one of the players I group with. I do think farming is a lot of the fun of this game, but lots of people you cant trust in this game. I dont mind dying from a wicked gun battle, but me dying from me being stupid- ehhh, no thanks. I'll err on the side of extreme caution. If you dont know how to tear your shirt into rags at this point, why am I going to sacrifice a 2 hour farm to risk it all to heal you? He might have a gun, afterall.

    Most frustrating Parts in DayZ/

I don't think he (or I) are saying they are scared on new spawns, but the KO punch is ridiculous esp when you are full geared and dont really want to shoot a bambi. But there's a lot of bambis who run up to you regardless, got nothing to lose so why not- but there's a flip side to that coin and if the KO's happen, well, I guess I won't shed a tear for any "why do people kill new spawn" threads. If I farm for 2 hours to have a commando Scharzenegger and Action Jackson fisto guy can knock me out and take my loot/gun, I'm dropping a bullet in anyone headed in my direction. I went to the store to buy my "Save the bambi's" t-shirt, but they were all out. Sorry.

+1!!! So far, I've embarassingly been punched out KO'ed 4 times- 3 with fists and 1 with a bat. Now, there is a distance a bambi needs to be before I open fire, and its becoming further and further with each day. Last night, I was KO'ed by some random guy who ran at me- I woke up 15 seconds later and all my stuff was gone. He was in front of me with all my stuff. He see's me and then logs. I have an axe, so I ran off- somehow, my bud tells me there's a guy at a cabin- I run up and its the same douche who KO'ed me- 2 whacks with an axe and he's down. I grab all my stuff and laugh the entire way back. So if you're reading this buddy, <taunt> middle finger to ya! You won't get within 40 ft next time before my M4 cuts you down.
  8. I was told by a game mate that its piped in randomly like that weird metal closing door that sounds ocassionally. I've ignored it, until 2 nights ago when I logged in and was watching the road before moving out- heard someone chewing and then turned to see someone sitting next to me eating. He then logged out, but I had to change my boxers after that one.

The chance of friendlies are higher up North. Do you agree?

Funny. I never ran into this situation of talking to people in game. I'm usually clutzing around some where remote and get popped without even knowing where it came from. I often go to the military base up north and its as hot as the southern one. When you're looting the jail and come across another player, there's zero time for conversation, they are usually whipping out an axe as I'm standing there with a helmet in my hands. Holy **$, I've been through some extremely rough times looting. So I havent ever had the time to talk to people in this game- neither side wants to talk. Either that, or its a guy who speaks English-JarJar Binks language chasing me around wanting to fight. Crazy Dayz people. lol

    what happened here?

I've learned that you are never safe, regardless of # of players & location. Act as if a gun is being pointed at you at all times. I got killed in a server with 7 people on it as Iiterally ran by someone with an m4 in the forest. I wasn't on guard because I thought "eeh, 7 people. I'm safe." Tough lesson to learn, esp fully stacked with goodies.
