How long does it take to run from one edge to the map to the other?
DirtyscumbagLith replied to marsmars's topic in General Discussion
i ran from kammy to NE airfield in full sprint in 30 minutes. i think the small bend accounts for time wasted but probably easier than going up steep slopes. -
how does respawn work exactly?
DirtyscumbagLith replied to hookhead's topic in New Player Discussion
How does re-spawn work? When you die, you hit respawn and then you sit there with your finger in your butt watching a black screen. Then after 5 minutes, you curse and exit the game to enter it again. That's re-spawn. -
WTF loud screaming noises?
DirtyscumbagLith replied to austen.fart@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
Not creepy, just annoying as F. I heard it while @ the NE airfield and my friend heard it while in Balota. We logged. If it is admins, they should be warned not to do that anymore. When i play Dayz, I dont invite a bunch of annoying douches to scream in my ear. -
Once you get your bearings, you'll realize the maps are pretty accurate. I've found my locations from building position and even the deer stands. Give it a few tho- at first its confusing, but it gets better.
-
1. google "map of dayz" 2. run to the outskirts of town where the road signs are 3. cross reference the sign name with the map name 4. map sure the map you are using has russian and english on it for the town names 5. run back in a crazy fashion, excited you didn't get shot.

bayonet sticks out when youre hiding- dead giveaway. ive spotted people hiding because of it. that and that nasty bayonet on the m4. eek.
-
I thought that was a hack. So I exited. I could also be stupid. But that was after a game-wide sound (I heard at NE airfield, my buddy heard at Balota)- thought it was someone making dolphin noises. Dunno. Boobies.

10 Man Squad getting Ghosted On?...
DirtyscumbagLith replied to BennyDawg's topic in General Discussion
All the more power to any group of people who team up. Why wouldn't you? I once rolled with a group of 7. We only saw 1 guy, but it was great rolling with those high numbers. I was running solo 2 days ago and ran into a group of 3 running together. It wasn't a good outcome for me, but hey, part of the game. They even taunted me through chat after I was bleeding a fountain of blood. LOL. Part of the game. Just my bad luck. -
I prefer it when the person robs me has a super cute Japanese girl voice. Ogenkie, Lith-san? Here, take my M4. Here's some ammo too. Can you handcuff me now? Works everytime.

When I first started playing this game, I was clueless. I ran around and died of starvation several times. I rarely saw anyone. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I was lucky enough to have 6 friends who are hardcore at this game, so we teamspeak and I learned a ton. Now, water, food and zombies are not an issue at all. I dont even get lost any more. Your biggest threat is people. But I feel your pain. So if you dont have friends, go watch some beginner videos on youtube. There are tons and they are helpful. They should help you so survival is easier and getting weaps is attainable. So on dying- well, youre going to die a lot. A LOT. Anyone who hasn't, hasn't played this game enough. Personally, I thought I'd get pissed if I died, but I died so much, that after a while, it didnt bother me. Plus, its very strange, but after a while of being fully geared up, it gets a little boring. You either go to a hot spot and shoot bad guys (people shooting bambis) or you decide to explore the N area towns. Its fun and all, but after a while, you kind of crave that bambi experience again. I was at the NW airfield and found ammo galore, an M4, food, everything and that place was a ghost town. I actually sucided because the gathering part was boring. I didnt want to run 30 mins to get somewhere. Weird. So dont get attached to your stuff. Its going to go bye bye, trust me. The gathering experience is pretty fun, if you make it that way. My 2 cents.

Being killed by server hoppers ruining game
DirtyscumbagLith replied to braiboo's topic in General Discussion
i usually make it to the NE airfield when looking for guns/loot and going to an airfield is the most intense experience. lots and lots of activity. its a long run (30 mins from kammy), but well worth it- ive died and ive also succeeded and killed those being douchey. personally, i think this is the best part of the game- very intense, gathering, listening for sounds, suddenly the door opens right after you find an M4 and load it- popopopop! me gots more loot. i was fully geared a few times and wanted to suicide just to experience that gathering part again lol. dunno what the answer is. ive had people spawn in the room i was in. we both shat ourselves, usually weaponless, axes swinging, lol. you have to be very very cautious while looting in an airfield. its probably the most tense part of the game. -
"Friendlies" are just a bunch of lamers
DirtyscumbagLith replied to gamerer's topic in General Discussion
Handcuffed? I'd rather die. 99% of the time, they are going to take your ammo, your food and your weapon. Have you not seen any of the youtube videos? Or if its my crew, we inject them with poison, make them eat rotten fruit etc....being handcuffed is being dead. I'd rather spray and pray and die, maybe taking a few down with me as I go. Youre funny. "talk your way out". I'll wiggle a friendly F2 as people are shooting at me from 100 yards. That should stop them. -
In Electro & was going with a group of 4. My friend gets sniped, so we ran and then tried to get the sniper, lying on a hill. Suddenly, we heard music in game & it sounded like it went from behind us to far away. Then my friend said he saw someone by me and that the character disappeared, twice. I turned around to see 2 guys walking, then disappearing, and re-appearing 10 ft away. They were horrible shots and did this 3 times right in front of me- circling me almost 2 times. All 3 of us killed. Not sure if this is common, or what- but felt like it needed to be mentioned.

I Finally Made It! Got a Gun! Wait, no....NooOOooOoO
DirtyscumbagLith replied to Decks13's topic in New Player Discussion
I dont climb ladders unless I 100% absolutely have to. (Once found a guy on top of the ATC bleeding a fountain of blood to the top unit- waited, waited, then finally climbed it and looted his body. Never got sniped, but that was a nervous 2 minutes). I dont climb stairs while fully gear either (once was fully geared and climbed a set of stairs and magically flew through a window and died). That was awesome. Then again, I broke my leg walking off the 2 steps that meet the earth from the ATC, so I guess you never see it coming. -
Has anyone else encountered the 'amazing' bandits that camp Balota airstrip?
DirtyscumbagLith replied to ItzNasha's topic in New Player Discussion
Balota is the worst area, imo. I avoid it at all costs. -
"Friendlies" are just a bunch of lamers
DirtyscumbagLith replied to gamerer's topic in General Discussion
What is this "friendly?" you speak of? 1.) Ive spawned on the beach, turned to look around to get my bearings and had someone run up to me & beat me to death with a bat 2.) I've ran through Kammy and got shot in the back 3.) Ran through Solly and a group of bambis were beating each other around a pile of about 20 bodies 4.) been sniped at Elecktro as a noob with nothing but a shirt, pants and shoes on me 5.) been shot after running 30 mins to a base by someone fully geared up 6.) been sniped at the base 7.) rounded a corner to kammy at the water spiget to see 5 guys, all yelling at me to stop (F being handcuffed, I'd rather die) and they all shot at me (good thing their aim sucked) 8.) been knocked unconscious from a bambi while being fully geared, all to wake up to all my stuff gone. 9.) the list goes on and on. So you'll excuse me if I don't run up and hug a player I come across in a town. I see it as having 3 options 1.) fire instantly 2.) avoid if not spotted 3.) hunt them and then kill them I agree with the Op. -
3 of us died from a hacker last night
DirtyscumbagLith replied to DirtyscumbagLith's topic in General Discussion
Was my issue a glitch, ghosting, blah blah? Doubtful. Unless I met the ballsiest SOB's in the game who walked around me within 5 ft of me in almost 2 complete circles, who announced their presence 10 seconds before playing loud music through their mic. Believe that as a glitch? I got a bridge with santa claus to sell you. They disappeared close to 7 times throughout the whole ordeal. The only reason I was alive for so long is they were horrdenous shots. I saw the whole thing. No way its ghosting. -
I find the night time servers annoying. Sure, I'd like to change things up, but the darkness is unrealistic in my opinion, unless I'm Riddick on that black planet. And Im not cranking up my monitor to handle it either (that's even lamer).

If i counted right, i think its 5 things of food and the rest water/soda to bring you healthy. I could be wrong.

I had a similar story but with a handgun. Someone approached me and I pointed it at them. "GET OUT OF HERE!" I yelled. He saw the gun and bolted like Forest Gump. I laughed because I had no bullets.

Being a bandit that doesn't KoS feels good.
DirtyscumbagLith replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Great post. I changed my game play and spent all day yesterday hunting snipers. Very challenging, lots of crawling and me ending up with sniper rifles. I had so much loot from these kills that I had to leave most of it. Hid their body but it didnt work. Hopefully they couldnt get to their body since douches were sniping bambis. I also started hunting people on a 1st person server only. Pretty funny how people behave. I then held them up and had them drop some food. Most comply. Some run. Running from someone with an M4 is ill-advised. lol. -
I broke my leg walking out of the ATC in the NE airfield. I looked back at the entrance and its 2 steps. Who knew I was such a pansy.

Anti Kos players. Where do you exist? Fantasy land?
-
its probably easier to have the map up and just follow it as you go. its pretty accurate. ive been lost and used those deer stands in the middle of nowhere to get my bearings again. worst case, find a sign in town and go from there. "My biggest goal is to help out others and be a hero... 5) What are ways in letting them know I wish to do so? (I do have a mic btw)" Im curious to if this will work or not. My guess is no, but that's me. In the beginning, I was trustworthy of people. I would talk with them, etc...but after getting blasted mercilessly over and over again, I really dont trust anyone. If I see someone, I do whatever I can to avoid them. "Why do they want to help me?" is always echoing in my head. For what? And secondly, why would I want to go with someone? Unless they are armed, they arent really going to help. And armed people usually dont run with other armed people without evil intentions. But I am biased. I usually only play with a group of 4+ people at a time. Its amazing the different interaction when you are 4+ people as opposed to just a lone gun running around. People avoid us in groups, they run for the hills. Thats a good thing. Once you figure out the game, you realize, aside from your friends, there's not much someone else can do to help you. Food? Bandages? I have, at the most basic level, or I can go find some with little effort. Seems too risky to trust someone, esp all hell can break loose and they can grab your stuff and log.

Both, when they are laying lifeless at my feet as I loot their gear.
