It's always fun when bandits are killed at their own game.

PCGamer: Day Z + Arma 3 interview
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to thealgerian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks for that! Very enlightening. -
If you can't get all the specs, just get the model number and then you can look all the specs up online.

This would radically change the game. People already complain that the zombies run too fast. You wouldn't stand a chance against a dog if you didn't have a gun... It's DayZ..Day Zed. I've never seen a zombie-dog referred to as zed. I support animals being out there, wild deer and stuff, but to zombify them would be annoying.

How long does a player survive out of server?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Regiee's topic in New Player Discussion
You won't die, you'll just be starving and dehydrated. So basically you go back on empty and need to quickly find food and drink water, but you'll be alive. -
You can still make your PC descent for playing games but you'd have to do some tweaking. Buy a new graphics card and install it if you can. Overclock your CPU or get someone you know to do it. But be VERY VERY VERY careful so you don't just destroy your computer. EDIT: Don't overclock until AFTER you get a new graphics card. Chances are it will run fine with a decent graphics card. _______________________________________________________ If you get a new GPU, make sure you get a new PSU too if the GPU needs more wattage than the last. Which it probably will...

Hardcore fanboys Vs General gamers

Rocket isn't selling DayZ. With the community growing though this will only escalate, as it tends to do on this wonderful thing called, "the internet". :P -
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx Use that, it'll tell you if you can run it or not, and also why you can't run it if you're not able. From what it looks like though your CPU may not enjoy this game.

You spent $30 to play DayZ and now it's not really fun to you? I recommend playing ArmA II until the issues you're having get resolved...

Use your tools to help others in need? Find a vehicle and fix 'er up? Well if the server has them... Go on a rampage and take on the world? (of course you'd lose everything in the end) Just some ideas.

(Another) Trading Post that might actually succeed?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Publik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have yet to get the game, but I truly hope this succeeds. Good luck, and if it does, I'll be glad to help in anyway I can, even if that means just going out to get you some loot to increase stock. -
AMD Phenon II 840T Quad Core Processor 6gb DDR3 RAM ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics card Anything I'm missing in terms of what I'd need then let me know. My weakness is that dreadful graphics card, and I'm definitely willing to upgrade, but I'd just like to know if I could hold off on upgrading for a while and play on low-medium settings just fine.

If I were to buy the CDs for ArmA II: CO, would I install them and they'd go to my Steam library automatically or are they not related to steam if you buy the CDs? -

Can my PC handle ArmA II/DayZ?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Diggydug (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
The problem with that is my current ISP is satellite (Hughesnet -.-) and ridiculously slow. I intend on switching over to a local broadband company which I've heard good things about. The free version is only multiplayer, but I will TRY to download it when my internet is going at a reasonable speed and just see if the game works. However, I usually can't even connect to multiplayer servers. This is why I haven't upgraded my computer for gaming. Hopefully all goes well. :) -

I cant believe it really....
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to jonnystarr@gmail.com's topic in New Player Discussion
I have satellite internet as well and it's been a real bane, but until now, no game has looked good enough for me to waste time getting broadband, which has only recently become availabe where I live. -
Can my PC handle ArmA II/DayZ?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Diggydug (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Thanks, though the news is disheartening I'm still going to try it since I intend on upgrading my graphics card (and processor if I must) to play this. I mind as well go all the way through with this to open the door for more PC gaming, and to play this gem. Would it be worth it to spend $100-$150 on a new ATI Radeon 5770 or 5780 as well? I figure that would allow me to play most PC games but would definitely value some input from people who know much more about graphics cards and their value. -
People don't write or place markers on maps in real life so they know where they are. You just have to learn how to read it and know where you are on the map. Marking a map would mean you'd end up with tons of marks that meant nothing later on. Putting a marker on the map would be pretty difficult considering you're holding it while you look at it.

Do not make DayZ mainstream noob friendly
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to disastr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I honestly haven't played the game, I won't pretend I have, but this is honestly something I've been longing for for years! I can't stop myself from watching it when I have the time. The immense freedom. The cut-throat world. The unofficial teamwork and forced cooperation. It's all so entertaining and says a lot about people. If this were to take a step in the other direction and try to be accessible to more people just so more people can play, then I won't even give this a second glance. I mean hell I'm willing to get a new ISP just to play this, as my current one sucks, but I agree with what I think the OP is trying to say. Rocket should keep doing what he does, not let it go elsewhere. Sidenote: I've been reading a lot since I made an account and Rocket seems like a very cool developer, and I like how he presents himself. Kudos to him for originality, ingenuity, and the rare ability to hear his audience.
