Where does it say you can't join if you're 16 on DayZRP btw? I can't recall an age restriction but it's been awhile since I registered. Your voice is entirely irrelevant to the registration process and it's unlikely someone will report you ingame for your voice, considering the 12 year old I've seen around.

Why do people cry so much when they presume on my mercy?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's impossible to know how long you've been watched if you spot someone looking down their sights at you. By your logic, if I'm walking along and turn my head to see a sniper aiming at me, I should remain calm and assume he isn't going to shoot me since he hasn't shot yet. That's moronic if you ask me. There was no unspoken agreement there, to him he probably decided "This guy's aiming at me, better keep on the move." He wasn't thinking that you didn't have any intentions of killing him. He'd have to stop anyway to grab his rifle if he wanted to fight, which he knows would have gotten him killed. Best thing is to just keep on the move. EDIT: And who hunts rabbits? -
Epoc, should I bother?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The couple of times I played it a month or two ago I didn't really like it. It wasn't a wacky vehicle server but I did manage to snag a car, go to the trader zones, only to find I don't like the idea of them. There are a lot of servers though. If you don't have a download limit, I'd just say try it and decide for yourself. Personally, I prefer Aftermath, as it has better weapon customization, loot isn't any easier to find (unless they changed it recently) and you can break into people's bases if you have the tools to do so. -
Well your only real alternative would be finding an RP server that isn't DayZRP and while I've never played on one I can only imagine it wouldn't be very smooth. "So what's your story?" *shoots you*

Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I want people to die for logging out in that situation. Well I don't want THAT, but I don't see any other alternative to keep the captive from just logging out and getting the last laugh and then we end up back at square one with people going straight to murder. If my internet starts crapping out and I'm driving a car and crash, I get frustrated but I don't ragequit... Hell, one time I spent an entire night getting a chopper repaired for me and my pals and as soon as I got up over 100m in the air after refueling, I lost connection. It crashed. I expected nothing less. So basically, your character should "crash" in that instance and the avatar just sits there being all hostage-y if you disconnect in that situation. "That situation" may be defined purely by being handcuffed so that could be annoying, but being a hostage isn't supposed to be fun. Rule #1 of DayZ: Don't get attached to your gear. -
How hard was it to figure out where you are? *spawns in* BALOTA *runs to airfield* Why does it matter, though?

Only more roads if there are more cities. I actually like how the north is a "wasteland" (really?) so people don't just go up there willy nilly following a road. You have to have some idea of basic land navigation or you're lost if you're in a lot of those areas, and that makes it interesting when you do manage to run into someone.

I know a 13 year old (maybe 12) who plays it. Though that is purely judging by his voice and behavior... If he can get in, you can get in. Go for it, it's a great RP environment and some funny stuff goes down.

Why post something not-vanilla if they ask for vanilla? That always bothers me. "Hey, it's not what you're looking for but..." That's basically what's going on. Anyway, my favorite is US 3480 but the ping may be questionable considering you're far from their server which is in the Northeast US. It's generally populated, except when it gets dark on the server, and you may have 10 people on. It's DayZ. No extra vehicles or anything. Use the DayZ Commander filter and maybe you can find a vanilla server closer to you with a decent population. They exist, I don't know why people pretend they're hard to find.

What if Dayz was free to play?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Shadow Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And why would you want to play a game that's constantly encouraging you to buy stuff? Particularly a survival game? -
Ignore him. Probably seeking a response. A proper admin can take one quick look at you and know you're not hacking if you just shot a guy 35 times with an LMG.

He'd be dead. That's all that matters.

WWI-Cold War Firearms/Parts
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to krihelion's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well we're in a crappy old post-soviet country. No doubt those guns would have been removed from the civilians, at least most of them, and even then not many western weapons would be in a satellite state. Mosins and AKs galore, sure, but no BARs or M1A1 just laying around. With military intervention against the infection I'd imagine there would be modern AKs at best in a little place like Chernarus. LMGs maybe, but extremely rare. __________ That's just my thought, and even with things like M4A3s and M24s lying about I'm not really complaining. If what you said happened I wouldn't mind either but I know many people would. -
WWI-Cold War Firearms/Parts
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to krihelion's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Old Russian weapons I'd like to see, but I wouldn't care to see old western weapons. Even the Lee Enfield is oddly placed if you ask me, as much as I love it. -
Really Hard To See People At A Distance

You should share a picture as well. Maybe use the editor just to show us an example. -
So does the way you play Dayz reflect your 'real life' personality?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Jock McScottish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's not quite civilization if you're referring to the bands of nomads. Anyway, keep in mind that once we got that whole civilization ball rolling, it's sped up. So I don't see your point. Human history is a history of cooperation with or without civilization. As for your remark on CS, what? It's obviously a game with the goal of completing an objective. DayZ's beauty comes from the lack of objectives. It's all you. That's why it makes sense to wonder if people reflect who they are in how they play, or not. We're more involved in how we play here than in something like CS, CoD, or every other game with a set objective. -
What if Dayz was free to play?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Shadow Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well considering most of my deaths are from bullshit ways 90% of the time, I'd give up and keep my money, thank you very much. Why would I pay for an extra life? Is this an arcade system now? That's not even f2p and it'd end up costing significantly more than it does now for the players, with more people hacking and killing on sight than ever before. The best part though, is that it would never happen, since it's a mod of a game, and even if it managed to exist like that, mods of DayZ would always be there. What game does the whole "buy lives" thing successfully anyway? -

I hope headlights and flares won't radiate through the walls as well then! -
Feel free to try Epoch but I personally don't find it all that amazing. Vanilla's always where I end up and I think 1.8 was overall a great update. 1.8 changed a lot, check out the changelogs. Zombies are bearable right now if you ask me. SA never comes out. Ever.

I thought silenced weapons were supposed to be rare?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to xoiio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's probably best you refer to any mods you play by their name, and not "DayZ". When you say something is rare in DayZ, I immediately assume vanilla. If you were to say, "I thought this was rare in Epoch" I'd understand. You were sitting here talking about finding SD weapons and raiding barracks with NVGs and saying you thought they were rare...I was baffled. Why not try vanilla? -
You're talking about BF4 as far as I can tell in your post. 2.8GHz does not meet the minimum requirements for BF4 and isn't great for DayZ. However it shouldn't hinder you so much in DayZ. Google helped. http://bf4central.com/battlefield-4-system-requirements/

So does the way you play Dayz reflect your 'real life' personality?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Jock McScottish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think it's best to ignore Ozelot, he seems to post to get reactions. If he wants to be tuff guy IRL if shit hits the fan, let him. By day two he'll have changed his mind. __________ I bet whether you play based off of who you really are or not is heavily based off of personality types. If there are any other ISTJs in here, say so. As a prominent ISTJ, it's hard for me not to be me, for better or worse. In all games, I often go by my own personal values, because that's fun to me. I'm also very aware there's another person behind a screen when in multiplayer games, and don't want to ruin their experience for my own pleasure, even if that's what most denizens of the internet seem to be here for. -
So does the way you play Dayz reflect your 'real life' personality?
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to Jock McScottish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My personality is very prevalent when I play DayZ normally. I will help those I think deserve it and kill those who I think deserve it. I deal my own justice and tend to keep to myself. I'm not there to kill you or anyone else, but if you come between me and my goals I will work to overcome you and enjoy doing it. I'm reluctant to turn down a nearby plea for help, but am very cautious. The people who do act completely different baffle me. Is being you so bad that you don't want to do it when playing a game as social as DayZ?
