    Out-do Epoch?

Epoch is just going through its hyped phase. Namalsk went through it. Origins. DayZERO. Heck even DayZ 2017 had a moment I think. Everyone thought each one of those was just so amazing and nothing would beat it. The bar had been set...and then the hype dies and something else comes along made popular by Psi or Frankie, if they're still going. __________ Vanilla keeps me coming back. The others have in some way or another gotten stale.

So Wait for SA or buy ArmA 2 in the meantime?

It's on sale. If you can't get $5 worth out of ArmA 2 then that's shocking. Buy it. I don't expect you'll regret it.

Did I do the right thing?

I say you did the right thing. You tried to hide, obviously. Two armed guys with bandit skins roll up and tell you to get in and don't even consider you may not comply? You didn't hide to gun them down, from what I can tell, you to hid to avoid exactly what went down. That's their fault based off of the information provided.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

They're being criticized for their actions as well. They're trying to kill anyone they see. Motive? Shits and giggles. Both seem to be generally frowned upon on the forums.

    Your Greatest Friend in DayZ

That doesn't seem like charisma. Seems like deception. ________ However, I do think one of the better tactics in close quarters is to engage them over direct. Whether they're friendly or out for blood, if they talk back you're gaining information. 1) What type of person they seem like. 2) Their location ingame 3) Approximate age I find people much less likely to shoot you if you manage to strike a proper conversation as well. If you can make them laugh, all the better. Even with the KoS mentality of many players, most people I've talked to that respond tend to settle down afterwards. Saving bullets and potentially making new friends.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

We're not expecting bandits to hold us up and spend time robbing us every time, but some of us don't think the guys on Sniper Hill are crucial to the game. The people who shoot you with no intent on looting you. You likely have no idea they're there, but they're going to kill you for giggles. If I'm looting a town and someone comes upon me as they turn the corner, and decide to try and take me out, that's not really a big deal because for all they know I saw them and could be a threat. If they shoot at me to get my gear, no big deal. If they shoot at me for revenge, no big deal. Things like that I expect and understand. Playing DayZ as deathmatch I don't understand.

    What just happened

Guy had a double barrel? You could have just walked out 100 meters or so away and took him out. That double barrel isn't even worth the hassle. It'll get you killed if anything. I'm surprised you didn't get torn up yourself, firing a Lee in Cherno multiple times.

Do You Think Bandits Are Bad?

Narko's right, that story is confusing. _______________ Banditry is fine. I don't think anyone here really minds actual bandits, but the people who play for the sake of killing others aren't helping the game if you ask me. It's not that people get mad when they die, it's that people get mad because people go out of their way to be dicks and ruin people's time in DayZ. I simply don't understand why the l33t snipers and people who play to kill don't play Wasteland unless they like having an enemy that can't shoot back to get their kicks.

    dayz mod support

I don't think DayZ is hurting for players atm. Those who are interested in forums, which few are these days, will chill here regardless of advertisement. And where would funding for advertising and faster changelogs come from? O_o Looks like we need donate options for public hive. Donate $20 for huey.

    Wiping wounds stops infection?

The wipes keep it from happening. It's to prevent the annoyance of getting instantly infected from a zombie hit.
  11. You can reset them to avoid this, I'm sure.

    what happen if SA sucks?

If it sucks, then there's the mod. Simple. If you're afraid it will be awful then wait a bit before making a decision on whether to buy it or not. It's not a difficult concept to grasp. We win, no matter what.

    Easy to beat zombies

"Now"? It's always been like this, there's nothing they can do about it as far as I know. If you ask me though, cheap little bullshit tactics like hiding in a pine tree are part of DayZ and if that was fixed the zombies would be such a nuisance, due to the way zombies behave.

If you had the opportunity to add one pistol

Well the M1911 is already there. Not sure what else you could ask for. Golden gun is the next best thing I suppose.

    Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea

Why would anyone ever accept a restraint? If you ask me, if someone manages to get up on you and handcuff you before you can shoot them, you deserve what's coming. It's not like they can handcuff you from 100m away and grief you...so it's unlikely to happen in the first place. If someone is devoted enough and skilled enough to make that happen, then why wouldn't you want to stick around to see WHY they went through all that trouble?

    Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea

So would you rather you be able to just log out when handcuffed?

    Got raped whilst sniping.

How did he get in your pack without you noticing? It makes a sound, right? How did he get that close to you without you noticing? A lesson learned, I hope. I have no experiences like that but I'll share a friend's story since he does these things. ________________________ He was going to Elektro and heard sniper fire so he decided to investigate Sniper Hill with a Winchester he had on him. He went all the way up, looked around, and found three guys, side by side, all looking down into Elektro. Two survivors, one ghillie. He went to the side of them, and shot one in the head. The other two stood up. He shot them in the head consecutively, which was easy enough considering they apparently didn't dart apart, but instead their initial reaction was to just look around. He got more loot from these guys than he could ever carry, all thanks to their stupidity and his skill with a Winchester. Good on him. From what it sounds like, to me the other two weren't sure how their friend died and were looking to see who-dun-it, which is dumb still, but the Winchester is a quiet weapon compared to others so possible they barely heard it. Either way, they made the same mistake of sniping Elektro and not moving. Another mistake of sitting in a line so if one was seen, they all were.

    Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea

If your life doesn't revolve around the game I see no problem here. Anyway, I'd rather have this implemented and have a few instances where it's "unfair" than making it pointless to bind someone because people will just log out.

    Turbo Key = Usain Bolt?

Considering I've never seen this before and it would otherwise be a well known exploit, I doubt it. Sounds like hax to me but that's just my immediate assumption. EDIT: or I suppose it could be restricted to Battle Royale but if that's an intended part of the mod then that's silly.

    Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea

I'm happy with people being punished in other ways, even more harsh ways. Combat logging and the equivalents really just piss me off. Play the game or don't play the game, don't be an ass who tries to play tough until you're in a tough spot. If they get crippled and their gear strewn about within a certain area, I'd be cool with that too. Also being AI-controlled for a bit if they did that, leaving the assailant a choice to kill or not would be cool too.

    Forum noobs

I don't go into those clan areas and rarely visit survivor/bandit forums so I haven't noticed it much. What I've noticed would be the Epoch threads that pop up, which make me facepalm considering Epoch has its own forums. I welcome activity though, even though I am mostly a lurker. My want for activity has encouraged me to be more active for "Golden Rule" type reasoning.

    Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea

Different clothes have different stats. A combat helmet will prove far more useful than a baseball cap. A vest will be more useful than just a t-shirt. It's the practical articles of clothing, or even weapons, you'd be after. I hope you find KoS isn't as viable in the SA...I hope that's true through and through,

    So...Skyrim? Call them Lydia please.

    Looking for RP server

DayZRP has a pretty strict registration process and you will be banned for trying to be a cool kid and going against their rules for the sake of going against their rules. Most "bandits" won't even make it past the registration process since it requires a few minutes of time and proving you read the rules. Link me please, Rooniedoo. I don't recall reading that but I may just be mistaken. EDIT: I just skimmed the server rules and found nothing regarding age. If it's in the registration process then that's different.

    Hostage-taking - probably a terrible idea

If they have some snazzy clothes you're keen on getting but don't want to put holes in, then it's probably better you handcuff them and avoid shooting them up. Depending on how rare ammo is, you may also prefer they don't expend their ammo as you two exchange fire. There are reasons, whether you see those reasons or not, they're there.
