Except they shot his friend as soon as he walked out of a door. Whatever their purpose may have been, they wronged the OP and he handled it well.
-
Karnesh said the story was good, good enough to where he doesn't care if you made it all up basically.

Killed a man who I believe was responsible for killing, or trying to kill, someone else. Coulda been a zombie, hell the guy might have been the wrong guy, but they were too close to take the chance and I had only one bullet. Two guys, one wounded and bleeding profusely. I shot the one who was perfectly healthy who I believe had an M4, the wounded guy panicked and only had a melee weapon. He couldn't find his pal's corpse and fled, still bleeding.

Everyone just quits the game when they die to keep their stuff!!??
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to cyberdev's topic in General Discussion
It's called combat logging and for some it may be just a bug. It's being worked on. They don't keep their gear, they're still dead and lost everything, but it keeps you from getting it as well. Are you just running around killing people and are upset you're not getting their lootz? -
Just a few minutes ago I decided to have some target practice, as I rarely hunt players, and found a zombie 300m or so away. Went prone. Lined up the shot. Fired. The shot registered on the ground immediately in front of the barrel even though I was on a hill sloped down and I was aiming straight across. Tried it again and garnered the same results. I have a bipod on my Mosin and when I crouched instead, the shot hit exactly where I intended. Prone may be iffy atm depending on certain situations. I'd say it's better to go crouched for now or try standing shots if prone isn't working for someone.
-
Accuracy is extremely important to me. I like to be able to engage from a safe distance and have never been too great in tight quarters, so I much prefer the Mosin. However if they fixed the M4A1's accuracy, I'd prefer it for semi-automatic firing.

I used my first bloodtest kit once and then my legs broke. To add insult to injury, I never found out my blood type! My friend went to put me out of my misery with his axe and I wasn't dying, but I was unconscious. The curse of Green Mountain is strong and well in the standalone, I fear.

Help me! - Dying of starvation - M4 + AMMO + Medical supplies reward for help

How did you die? -
Guys, the hunger and thirst system in place now actually works, if you know how to use it.

I'm sure those unaware will read this and be enlightened, no worries. -

I think most of us on the forums are fine with it because people have shared how to deal with it here. You drink a lot from a well. Stuff your face early on. Good to go for hours. -

People are understandably skeptical, but add me on Steam. I'll work with you if you use steam voice chat. I'm in the area anyway. EDIT: To be honest if you didn't tout that reward for your savior it'd be more convincing if you ask me. It's like someone in the mod saying they'll trade a DMR for assistance or something. Seems sketchy. Especially since it's your first post. -

Aren't characters getting wiped in the next patch anyway? -
Basically it boils down to you deciding what matters. I'm not going to sit here and do a back and forth if that's the logic you're going to stand by. Let's focus on hunting first. Then decide if cannibalism is needed or if Chernarus has enough cattle and sardines to go around.
-
You shot down someone else's idea by saying "Let's focus on things that matter." The same retort is used here and you act like it's any different
-
You may need some saline. Might have to check a hospital and pray to the DayZ gods, who I assume watch over us all in the standalone as well.
-
It was only implied and that's actually a great example of Australia not being accepting of games. It's the reason Med-x is Med-x and not morphine. If you sit down with a knife and gut a human in a game there's no implications and there's no need to take the chance. It's not needed for the game and wouldn't improve it substantially, if at all. Yes let's focus on things that matter, like cannibalism... Source?

Every time someone has a suggestion realism is brought up. You know what's realistic? Being bogged down by all the crap we carry around. Chafing when running in blue jeans for hours on end. Sleep. Puking when you eat and sprint for miles. Disorienting headaches. Hypothermia. Proper nutrition. Yada yada... This game isn't aiming for realism in every aspect, and we don't want it to, truly. Also the world isn't running short of supplies. I've never starved. I have ample food. There's no purpose except for OP wants to eat his victims and have a reason beyond killing.

Standalone any better off in terms of ******
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to harley001's topic in General Discussion
1. I'd say so but I'm generally away from the local populace. 2. It's not that bad, actually. I've had my legs randomly broken once. Once. Other than that a few minor things here and there but nothing that impedes gameplay much for me. 3. Community isn't any better. Many people aren't used to it and try to be friendly to avoid confrontations currently but as people get familiar with it all they're resorting to the usual KoS behavior in the big cities on the coast and military areas. 4. Lighting, hunger and thirst, clothing, zombies, buildings, the HUD. There's a lot of changes and you've already said you'll be getting it so you'll see. -
Because there isn't a shortage of supplies. There's no need for it now and even less of one when animals are added. Plus with this being a full-fledged game you have to worry about countries accepting it now, don't you? I highly doubt Australia would allow it and I don't see why they should be alienated for something so unnecessary.
-
I think it's also a bug, it's hard to tell at the moment, but I'm sure it's on their to-do list. No one likes it, not even combat loggers.
-
What?? We have laser cannons and I didn't even know! Well it seems like a simple fix, I don't see why it's that exaggerated in the first place! O_o
-
Except there isn't a shortage of supplies and you shouldn't be rewarded for murdering every Jack and Jill you run across just so you can get a morsel off their corpse. Hunting animals will come in the future and you already want cannibalism. I think you just want an excuse.

The knife, screwdriver, and axe can all open cans. I've heard, and it's been said above, that the bayonet can also be used to open cans. The only cost, of course, is that you lose a bit of the food in the can, but it's acceptable when you're starving if you ask me. Just drag the respective tool onto the can you want to open, it should have an orange highlight around it to indicate they can be used together, and it will give you the option to open the can. This also damages knives and screwdrivers if I'm not mistaken, unsure about the axe. You should never have issues getting those cans open now. I hope you eat well next time you play.

Why would an Eastern European military base, particularly a small one, have high-end western/NATO weapons such as the AS50 or even an M24? It's more likely they'd have SVDs at most on their bases considering what they were dealing with and the quality of their bases. Similar logic dictates I'd find M16s at every Russian base I stop by and LA85s in China.

Event server - A plea for private admin server control
Diggydug (DayZ) replied to seifeler's topic in General Discussion
Why don't you just do this on the mod? Really. It doesn't make sense to get the standalone (assuming you bought it) but you don't care about the survival aspects any more and only want to do storytelling. That's all fine and dandy but that's not what DayZ is.
