Do you think Bi will add that little bit extra when dayz is done?
pilgrim* replied to Sooden's topic in General Discussion
[gnnn.. rronfl..] Yo Grimey Rick, good to see ya! I bought a Gameboy just only so I could play Pokemon The only other game I ever tried on it was Zelda .. but after 2 days I went back to Pokemon. I still have it right here. I used to commute on a train with a lot of guys wearing ties doing work on laptops, on their way to work. I wore a tie too, but I played Pokemon. They used to 'look' at me even if the music was turned right down low. Now I have my house in the French Alps and I play DayZ and mainly work from home. Good life. I do various things. I don't know what happened to all those other guys with ties, maybe nothing, probably they lost all their gear. Probably they didn't know there was no instruction manual. I think in real life, in their heads they were playing the latest Tomb Raider, and there were little arrows to tell them which way to jump. ('scuse me, dudes, no harm... I ve played "Tomb Raider with direction arrows" too) I have the original 8-bit Pokemon intro tune as the ring-tone on my mobile phone now. The composer Junichi Masuda - a genius - designed this music for the Gameboy's two 8-bit sound channels and one white noise generator. Everybody knows you can't do that. Ask anyone. He didn't have a tutorial either: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvKoBnv96PM&index=2&list=PL61B646ED7B059AEB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGJglX2t5YM&list=PL61B646ED7B059AEB&index=25 - Stop Complaining? xx pilgrim -

At Waterloo, Lord Uxbridge was on horseback next to the Duke of Wellington. While they spoke together a cannonball took his leg off. He said : By God, sir, I have lost my leg" Wellington said : "By God, sir, so you have!" Lord Uxbridge fell off his horse. -
"dick move" ?? like shooting down a helicopter after some poor dudes have spent so much time and trouble repairing it ? or worse ? hey, if I found a tent with 3 bags of rice, a map, a pickaxe, and couple of fish .. I'd leave it alone.

Can only carry gun/tool on your baack if you have a pack
pilgrim* replied to Karmaterror's topic in Suggestions
Aside from the general graphics and the special attachments: One thing for sure, You ought to be able to pick up a backpack in your arms and carry it. (same as tent) And Definitely - if you kill an animal, make a bag out of it's hide, put the meat in the bag, you ought to be able to pick up that bag in your arms and carry it. -
A new approach to the bandits and heros situation
pilgrim* replied to con_hathy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Hi papajo I think the DayZ designers decided a long time ago there would be no system of points, or advantages, or experience, in DayZ SA. That seems to be final (and is OK by me). They also decided we wouldn't have flies buzzing around dead players, which is a great pity, I think.. if you played the Mod you will remember the flies. They were fine!. but they are not coming back.. that's sad (not OK by me) but seems like there's nothing to be done. No flies on dead bodies ever in SA. One problem with your karma idea is this: After a week someone would have done tests and there would be a youtube explanation of how many good karma players you need to kill to gain extra resistance to shots. Someone would show that if you killed five 0 karma players, you would have enough bad karma to take an extra M4 round in the chest without being killed. And who has zero karma? You say "no one knows" - but the newspawns always have 0 karma. So every PvP-er would know that if you kill 5 newspawns before you go off to PvP, your survival chance is increased. Then someone would work out that if you killed 17 newspawns you had enough bad Karma to give you the equivalent of a Press Vest in bullet resistance - except this is a Press Vest that never gets damaged. So PvP-ers would have to kill 17 newspawns to get the 'everlasting bad karma press vest'. It would only take a few days before everyone on the web knew this. You have to kill only newspawns to get it - because they are the only players you know for sure have 0 karma. You don't know how much karma any other (geared) player has so after a session of PvP you have killed players who maybe had more bed karma or less bad karma (total) than you had.. For instance - you may have killed someone who shot 20 newspawns, so your bad karma has gone down...But either way, now you don't know if your remaining bad karma is still as resistant as a Press Vest...it might have got less?.. so before the next session you have to kill another 17 newspawns to make sure you are up to grade. Or why not kill 25? Then when someone shoots you their bad karma will go down and they will become more vulnerable to bullets. Good revenge. Groups and Clans would jump on this. I promise you (unfortunately) the statistics would be well known after a week and explained in detail on youtube vids, with charts and demos. That's how it works. I know your idea is only a first suggestion.. but if anything like this was put into the game, PvP players would be wiping out fresh spawns as fast as they spawned, because it would armor them the more they killed. And everyone would know it. Ask any PvP player if he minds being aggroed by a lot of zombies when he gets a Press Vest in return, and the Press Vest is not damaged by gunfire or aggro because its 'invisible bad karma' it can only be damaged by you killing someone even badder than you... he'll just laugh about the zombies (or be pissed off and complain) but it wont stop him killing enough new spawns to get the "bad karma bulletproof vest" you see the problem? xx pilgrim These are interesting ideas (yours and the others, and I like "falling off roofs" as an idea of justice, and it is good to read..but as they say on the streets "evil exists"- and that's all). Totally even playing-field, you can kill someone (I mean the player himself behind his avatar) who's played for 3 years and not died for 8 months as easily as someone who started yesterday. I was killed two weeks ago by a player who did something so totally obvious I didn't expect anyone to ever do that, I thought no-one could ever be so dumb as to do that, but he was, and so he killed me stone dead. The main point is there will NOT be any kind of rating, or experience, or counting, or learning, or game saves, or gaining skills, or aptitudes, or points - of any kind - in DayZ SA. Ever. And as far as I know that's Final. Total. Ziltch. End. anyone correct me if I'm wrong? -
Hi JackSparrow, hope your head feels better soon. "a person's internet connection, doesn't mean anything..." I'm glad the pain's in your head not mine, old buddy. Don't try reading stuff past your tech level (this is not rocket science) or learn up and join the conversation like an adult. I like to check my internet hops - It's a hobby and something to do when my DayZ ping goes past 300. It's easy to do, you can try it. From my pc to my ISP's local server, the ping varies between 7 and 400 -this depends totally on the time of day, and the day of the week .. also it depends on the time of year - because this is a big tourist area and in the tourist season the local population of internet users goes up by x10 or even x30 Now I DO mean that I can PREDICT ACCURATELY what ping I will have depending on the exact HOUR and the day of the week, OK ? So, Weekend, evening after 3pm, France: I do not want to fall of roofs or run through 2nd floor walls when I'm standing still..a lot .. or get shot by people I haven't seen yet - because this evening my ping varies between 300 - 700, or more (can be MUCH more) - so I play at route tracing instead ... and the first hop to my ISP local server is now 300 (Friday evening), it will slide up to 500, then the ISP will switch me to a different local server (further away, yes..) and maybe switch me back after a few minutes, or switch me to one even further off.. At peak hours it hires server bandwidth off other suppliers and routes through those.. [on the hop listing the server code for a loaned server routing is just my ISP's code written backwards, means I'm hopping through a loan, so it's easy to tell what's happening] SO - still inside my ISP server network I can then do 3 hops, or as many as 7 hops, before I get OUT of my ISP network and reach AMS-IX or DE-CIX (Im located in Rhone-Alps, France) - and you know where AMS (NL) and DE are ? ... good. So just to get OUT of my ISP network on Friday or Saturday night takes me 300-800ms. Cool hu? And at LEAST 300ms of those are FIRST HOP... once I get to (eg) DE-CIX I'm ok - I mean .. REALLY OK - I can go straight to DE-CIX New York or to UAE-IX (Dubai) ya know ? going those big routes takes me 7ms or 11ms per hop. Then one or two more hops at the local level at the other end of the line. Those could be 15-30ms each (Weekends) but they dont change much at any hour or day. Now: When I do the same at 2 am, I get a 7-15ms connection hop to my local server, get two hops of 11ms to AMX-IX and one hop from there to a NL DayZ server.. or I stay in France and do 4 hops to an FR server for about 10ms less ping. So at 2am I'm on 40-60ms to plenty of places around Europe. Same in the mornings. At 2am: 200-350ms gets me to almost anywhere in the world except Australia/NZ. I used to play the Mod with friends in Saudi Arabia regularly (ping around 210), until the admins set the max ping to 100 to cut down the huge number of out of town hackers wrecking their game. I used to visit a Moscow server often - very fun people in Moscow. At ping 500 I've played on a Tokyo server.. but Japan is now about unreachable, and you have to go through the pacific rim IX to reach Austalia.. so no chance See, what happened was, 2 years ago, my ISP had the great idea to offer 25 TV channels for only 15 euros a month, through the same ISP service, comes from the ISP's own network origin, through your local server, and right to your TV, just plug your USB connection into the internet box.. and a LOT of people took it up.. OK - you know what Bandwidth is, you know what bit-rate is.. work out the difference in bit-rate, between playing DayZ and watching streamed TV. The dudes watching TV get it from the ISP here (regional) not from DE-CIX or beyond. I'm the only sucker who needs to get to DE-CIX fast (once I reach DE-CIX, they can handle 3.4 terabits per second, so I'm cool ATM) ..and I don't need to move a lot of bits through there to play, unlike folk watching a streamed TV game on the same shared bandwidth I'm using - as provided by my local ISP through my local server. So weekends I'm screwed from 3pm to 00:30 or 1 am. This is ISP policy, not "the way the internet works". Systematic prioritizing options are programmed by ISPs who get no money out of game-players except the standard connection fee. check it out ps Yazar8: your satellite don't work well when it rains or heavy cloud cover, maybe will be a good gaming option soon (one day), but not yet. am I right? pps Massacre: you're sitting on top of Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMX-IX), bet you have a 2 hop connection from your pc to your local DayZ servers. Thats cool, dude... I'm jealous for sure (remind me to shoot you next time we meet, if I can see ya in time to aim) ppps Demongroover: - It's the ones that hit you after you see them fall down dead.. that's .. hard on a man. p.etc.ps Pokerguy10: TATSU (Japanese kanji hand drawn expressionist style, not Chinese). Did ya have to quote the WHOLE post to ask? Aint you seen enough of me already? sorry to bore everybody, except Jack.. in fact I don't smoke or drink, .. anyone wants to know. xx pilgrim

A new approach to the bandits and heros situation
pilgrim* replied to con_hathy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I've played plenty of games starting out with 'Elite' (the original). You will remember that? or maybe you have only started playing recently. Either way you will have noticed how games have the same Speedbars, Health Bars, Fitness bars, Points systems, in them... so each game comes down to what you have to do to fill up that Bar, or what do you do (how many times) to Level, or to get those Points.. but even with the different high quality graphics, those games have to be similar, and they are easy to learn - you just have to learn the speedbars, Stamina, Health, Points... then you can Win the Game. And because the games studios want to sell plenty of games, they make sure the games are just difficult enough that everybody can Win. OK ? Or maybe Everybody can Get 85-90%.. with just enough difficulty at the end (or in one Level) to keep the real fans playing. Is there is any game that you yourself cant win? Tell me what game is that? Is there any game on the market with Speedbars and Points etc.. that is just too tough for you and you had to give up? Of course there is NOT. There is only one game no one can win.. i guess we live in hard times and people like the security of seeing the Points stack up, seeing the little Bars fill up.. so they feel safe and know where they are and how they are progressing. Me too - in the Mod I liked to know how many Zombies I'd killed... but if I can count, I can know that without seeing it written down on the screen for me.. what does the number written on the screen prove? - that I can't keep count yourself ? Or do you need the screenshot of how many points you got, to show your friends you are a better player than them? Many games do that, DayZ does not do any of that. I laughed at the fun ideas on this thread, not at the players - I think "being so evil that you fall off roofs a lot" is a great idea... it made me feel cheerful about life.. but it will not be in the game. Or maybe it happens already ? Perhaps there are bad-karma players already ? As soon as you have a REASON for doing something.. then all players must do the same thing, or they will be at a disadvantage (for instance, they will fall off roofs really all the time).. There are plenty of levels games and Points games and "You Have Won" games around already, and this Christmas there will be a whole bunch more. I'll play some myself. You should try them too. I LIKE some of those safe games where if you get it wrong (not enough points) you can replay the level. One of the things that attracts me to DayZ is - its not like that. You can't win. You don't even need to be fully geared, you don't even need to have a Bible in your backpack.... you do what you want.. No one tells you how well you did today - you CAN NOT win this game..That's great.. But its also GREAT that many different players are involved, and each of them has a different idea of HOW to play. We shouldn't take that away from any of them. Join the game, dude - bring your ideas right into the game with you.. PLAY the way you feel.. the points will be always there in your head. -
Time to reduce run speed with vehicles inbound?
pilgrim* replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
I imagine 2 or 3 players being chased by zombies and one player has a big backpack: He starts to lag behind. Do you slow down and help him fight the zombies? Or do you let him fall behind, knowing you can get away while he gets eaten ? Like the old saying : "Man who hunts tiger with a friend - never needs to run faster than the tiger..." -
A new approach to the bandits and heros situation
pilgrim* replied to con_hathy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Yo! people and General Zod (friend of Ming) I think you are all great players .. and also that the whole discussion is silly... but some of the ideas you people propose are brilliant ideas (and funny) although they will never be in the game. "having bad karma makes you fall of roofs more often" - genius "heroes should have auto-aim and bandits should have infinite backpacks - genius "getting good karma for killing bad karma" - wow - superb suppose you had really really good karma.. you could maybe just beam it at another player by holding your palm up, and that other player would get good karma and drop his gun and stop being a bandit.. you would have (in fact) a follower.. so we'd have a game with religious leaders in it, you could literally follow them and when they felt like it they could beam some more good karma at you.. maybe you would live longer with less water.. or as a group you could collect enough good karma to deflect bullets also, there would be a player so full of Bad Karma he could melt holes in walls and make you shoot yourself in the head, just by beaming bad karma at you, or look at you so that you fell dead, He could make cans of beans appear, but if you ate them you would become more evil with every can.. these religious leaders, the good and the bad, should glow a bit, and maybe float instead of running... ? I think instead of Good Karma and Bad Karma ... which will never be in the game .. What SHOULD be in the game is ALL you people in this thread.. bring your own karma right along with your keyboard ..this game needs people like all of you. keep doing it. xx pilgrim -
I'm goin to start to rant now not at you Pokerguy10, you're cool.. this is a rant in general, started by the topic ( sorry folks + sorry Bakermensch, you cool too).. those who must.. turn away your ears. what you really need is lower ping what all gamers need is lower ping the whole [***] internet is moving towards higher bandwidth for better streaming so millions of [happy morons] can watch 30 TV channels all night - football or straight non-stop porno (jesus, or - reality TV...!!!) and none of them care or realize that what they see is 1 or 2 seconds old when it gets to their screen, as long as it keeps streaming.. and the internet providers are more and more pushing that crap, doesn't matter if it takes 300 ms or 1500ms to reach you as long as it keeps coming at the same rate.. right? you internet server TV distribution watchers (sorry, I'm using bad words.. I'll calm my language) so if you're a real life network gamer and you want a REALTIME ping of 40, or 20, or ...WOW... even 10 .. then you might get the feeling someone is putting a banana in your [***] and they think you won't notice because there are TWO things - there is Bandwidth and there is Ping... and we GAMERS are the ONLY people who need PING. AND it's the only thing we DO need. You could say - for instance: Your Provider's local server only has bandwidth for 3000 subscribers, and 2893 of them are watching the football match or the reality TV show now at 7pm... so you 127 gameplayers, your ping is going to drop to 1000 or maybe 1700 every dozen seconds.. because the provider is overloaded, and the Provider is sharing equally , so you get shunted around and you get delayed from time to time, every 5 seconds and maybe they'll switch you to some old backup server network they haven't thrown away yet, every couple of minutes, or just for ..all night to the time the TV viewers flake out at midnight ... whatever.. they do the same to the other subscribers but those other subscribers don't even notice. A difference of 40 or 100 or 170 milliseconds to them is ... Nothing. .. but all those TV watchers are getting 60 frames of - how many bits per second ?? Add it up, its a lot of bits being processed and sent down to them - and I'm getting just a few hundred bits per second TOPS... it's all I need to play the game... It would be relatively EASY to prioritize low bandwidth end users, so their ping would get there and back fast... and the high bandwidth end users just dont care how many milliseconds it takes for a frame to reach their buffers, as long as its fairly constant streaming - they wont even notice a whole dropped frame (or 2 . or 3) scattered through their 60 frames per second viewing. as long as it runs at the same rate, they don't care and don't know how long it takes to reach them. and THIS is far more important than 64 bit or 128 or 256- bit... A lot of the time you cant tell which bit-width you're running just by looking at the game on your screen (as long as your hardware can keep up with it).. your pc generates all that lovely detail right in your box and those images never travel the web.. what you see on screen don't need no ping... you only need the ping for that little-bitty data stream telling your pc what is happening in your corner of the gameserver .. and your pc makes up all the lovely graphics and banging noises and screams right there and then.. completely NOT like watching a TV show.. though it might seem 'the same' to look at it. so what GAMERS need is low ping.. and what the internet is doing is ignoring Ping and concentrating on Bandwidth, because that's where the big money is right now. The IP can SELL you 30-40 channels of TV but it can't sell you access to a little minority game .. a game that would be really even-more totally neat if everyone could play it with a ping of ... hmm.. say 25 ?? would ping 25 be ok for you dudes?? Same for everyone?.. anyone object to that ? So what gamers need is low ping, and look out, people, the Internet Service Providers are NOT aiming to provide low ping to anybody, its not profitable, they are simply aiming for HIGH bandwidth for streaming.. as soon as a faster server turns up, it just means .. more subscribers per server, same service.. and for gameplayers that means your ping is maybe going to get worse.. the technology is being used against you. OK - you saw it here first.. that's the end of the rant (sorry Pokerguy10)and I feel kinda better now, even if no one else does. xx pilgrim

Increase player interaction by non-trivializing "civilian tasks"
pilgrim* replied to Evil Minion's topic in Suggestions
Its true, in your first post you did not say "perhaps" you said "don't you think that.?".... So I took that whole phrase as you giving an opinion and asking for an opinion, because .."don't you think that".... sounds like a question. I didn't realize you were laying down the law, Mor. gameplay mechanics = "how the game software works" gameplay = "what people do with the game" There is no maybe about that. I'm a backwoods gameplayer in DayZ who goes into the high-player zones for fun. I've never been killed by a << bandit >> who killed me for loot, ever, in the game. I've won or lost plenty of shootouts, but no-one was trying to steal food off the farmer's boy. Also - at present in the game, wasting a player with an AK is a good way to mess up anything useful he may be carrying, unless you want only ammo and another gun.. but no "bandit" ever killed me for my axe or my pants or my food, as far as I can tell.. being killed for fun, yes plenty of times.. fighting with another newspawn over a can-opener.. sure, has happened.. but a guy with a pair of pants and a machete and no backpack and no food or water, is not what I'd call a "bandit". but farming .. also even hunting - in fact crafting in general, is not something that happens a lot in downtown Berezino. Plenty of players like to kill each other in high-PvP zones, but even now there are not so many who wander the back country looking for tents (for example) - just a few. The number of players who might want to steal my "harder than average to grow" crops, or my "special dificult to find sharpening stone" or my "long lasting pliers and my roll of useful wire" - I can deal with. Do you really think the PvP players will run in hordes across the map looking for "hard to make" fishing rods ?.. nah, they'll just kill each other for "hard to maintain" automatic weapons, but they won't leave the PvP zones to do that. this is only my opinion, naturally. -
Increase player interaction by non-trivializing "civilian tasks"
pilgrim* replied to Evil Minion's topic in Suggestions
More durable tools - yes also - better-sharpening knives and axes stackable berries, and worms - yes ... I mainly agree with your list and I hope this is the way the game will go - but still remaining as dangerous and hairy as it is at the moment. And as crazy. Mor says that perhaps "making civilian task harder, will only make banditry more attractive" Hey, that could be true - but then you might get a breed of tougher civilians too.. I don't think of that as a risk, it's part of the gameplay - it evolves as things change, but I don't want everyone to be nice moral sweet friendly farmers ( yeegh.. I'd go play some other game). But there is plenty of space for OPs ideas and I'm all for a trend that way. One thing I would like to add to your list, Evil Minion. It's not a civilian task but it will have the same effect as items in your list (it's one little thing): when you change a magazine in a firefight, you press "R" and the mag changes automatically - the empty mag is magically returned to your backpack or wherever. In fact when you change mags the empty magazine should drop on the ground. This is what happens in real firefights. If you want to keep the empty you go back and pick it up after the fight (same for speed-loaders also). I hope this would add a bit of thought for the players who go around with 10+ magazines shooting them off whenever they feel. When you change out your magazine, you have to pick up the empty, if you have time. this is a small change - like several of the changes on your list - that could be implemented quite soon in the Alpha if many players wanted them. xx -

OK - so you see what happens in DayZ. Here's The Question : In real life give a kid: - An automatic weapon - A fishing rod - A packet of tomato seeds .. what do you expect the kid to do first ? 1 - Put the gun down, keep the tomato seeds and go fishing ? 2 - Put the gun down, keep the fishing rod and plant the tomato seeds ? 3 - Put the gun down, plant the tomato seeds and then sit fishing while he's waiting for them to grow ? 4 - any other answers ? -
Scuse me Yazar8 but what would you want to be under heavy fire for ? That's like saying - " what if you were driving on the wrong side of the road ?"
-
well.. in theory.. but I do a lot of road cycling and also wandering around in mountains (I live in them, so its a usual thing for me to do) and I can promise you - in real life you can put a medium length plastic raincoat over anything including your backpack and whatever else you're wearing. The example in the game now has a hood, so you could IRL definitely use it as a cape, covering your head and hanging over your shoulders. I have done this many times. This will keep you dry without even putting your arms into it unless you're caught in an absolute brutal storm, then you put your arms in it and the backpack has to stay outside. After all, this is a raincoat, and so its made to go over your normal day gear, it has room, it's not one of those skin-tight plastic things the girls wear in machine shop pin-ups; I think ? (... is it?) The other thing is, a plastic raincoat rolled-up does not take up a lot of space, unlike any military or civilian coat or jacket. Also from experience. For the rest, I agree with you. The point is to put it over what you are already wearing, so you do not swap it for your vest, camo gear, jacket.. you keep those on underneath. So needs some sort of extra clothing slot in the inventory window, or the existing slot with an inset.
-
Would be also good to be able to put the plastic raincoat over your other clothing as in real life you'd show up as wearing only the plastic raincoat but the other gear would be invisible underneath (hmmm .. press vest for instance). Need to rework a part of the inventory screen to do this, but no visible in-game changes.

Well, you aint been to my bush. I been hiding in my bush for 5 weeks and NOBODY showed up. [ edit: OK I admit you've most likely been past there a few times. In one of your screenshots you can very probably see my boots sticking out ] I tend to stick to the country; I always carry a stone around. When I go into town its just for fun. I'm a country player but every so often I get the crazy feeling to go looking for trouble. The strange thing is, as soon as I set out to look for it, trouble jumps on me from some completely unexpected place. xx pilgrim

nooo.... er .. I think what you mean is - you plant tomatoes in real life.. you plant tomatoes in dayZ... you grow tomatoes in DayZ and in real life.. THEN you die OP says "animals" - ?? - In real life, did you never have a 5-year old come up to you pointing a plastic gun saying "bang bang!" ?? so - did you shoot him ? xx -
Nobody mention Longhorn as a useful thing to keep in your backpack ?? ... it nicely fills in the spaces in a variety of different primary/secondary weapons choices .. Longhorn and fireaxe, two good things to have. Any choice of weapon rifle/handgun you find easily plus a Longhorn, and axe, box of matches, knife and a stone.. and you're a free man.. For any other weapons - revolver or SKS or shotgun, whatever.. how many rounds do you need? If I have a loaded SKS and one space holding maybe 12 rounds, I'm OK, - Same with a loaded pump, one storage-space of rounds.. 5 in the gun and maybe 10 in your pocket.. and you're ok for the day.. isn't that right? xx
-
no - I agree with you (and you are technically correct also) .. this idea was a general thought about crafting and weapons and the various things being introduced to the game.. When I think of 'grenades' the first thing that comes to my mind is dead fish floating on the surface as a result of concussion.. after bombardments for instance, or simply from throwing a grenade in a lake.. I heard that this was an easy way in Vietnam of becoming popular with locals for an hour or so.. 1 grenade in a river pool = fish for the village (but there are many tales about that war, so how true this was I cannot say ). I do know however, that in Scotland, a stick of dynamite in a salmon pool could get you 10 or 20 big salmon at the right time of year - and could easily get you shot by the owner's gamekeeper.. it was (or is?) about the same level as sheep stealing. Very bad activity. So in our abandoned pos-apoc country, not only grenades, but also a few sticks of dynamite could be lying around somewhere..and all kinds of interesting things can be done with that type of industrial equipment.. Mine was really a thought on creative stuff that can be done with grenades and explosives in general.. you are right about cannibalism in DayZ (I don't object) - I am surprised it came into the game because of the state of the modern games market etc etc.. realistic weapons are definitely ok in computer games except to a small minority of extreme 'moralists', but various other illegal/immoral stuff is 'not ok'. And In places I have lived IRL, "dynamiting fish" was considered probably about as unacceptable as cannibalism . ..definitely much worse than extreme drug abuse or incest, for instance. - and these are places where (eg) murder might be thought "understandable", though everyone would agree you have to pay the price for it. This is only IMO and no offense intended to anyone anywhere. Grenade fishing works far too well to let anyone get away with it. Like hunting elephants to black market the tusks - could that be depicted in a modern computer game as a normal player activity? Also, with regards to dynamite.. and 'crafted explosives' in general (eg fertilizer-based). Various organizations IRL have made effective, or at least deadly, use of home-crafted bombs (and also pipe grenade-throwers, mines, etc), as we know. Fishing to survive is only one aspect that occurred to me. I guess this is far off topic. Sorry people.

Yes. Guess you're right - so its back to old fashioned grenade fishing. Would be nice if you could lob a grenade into a lake, harbor, or river and have five or seven dead fish float to the top; would be worth the grenade. But this will not happen in DayZ - "dynamite fishing" is very severely frowned on by authorities everywhere as a terribly serious bad antisocial criminal behavior, so it can't be included in DayZ even if players wanted it. You can't encourage that kind of selfish practical activity in a game. Shooting folk with automatic military weapons is OK though, so things even out.

- off topic - this Steak comment reminds me of the old trick that - if someone is going to hit you they have to move their left foot forward to swing at you (a right-hander moves the left foot ) - so you watch their feet (also you looking downwards might make you seem careless or less threatening) - You watch for the feet not their hands, not whatever they're holding..soon as the foot starts to come forward, you already know their intention. .
