An animation for swapping a mag out of your backpack would be interesting to see in a firefight :)

you cant spend the first 30 mins heading to Cherno to meet friends hoping to find food on the way, you'll starve or die of exposure you got to spend the first 30 mins doing 100% survival - you need food and clothes, bandages, a weapon. This means that you cant freshspawn and set off to meet someone unless they are coming to meet YOU with supplies. The first hour of the game is probably the most difficult to get through, you can't be socializing until you're set up to survive. Plenty of threads about how to stay alive through the first hour of DayZ Some say it's the best part of the game xx

The new dynamic reticle looks nice but is still inaccurate for hipfire :(
pilgrim* replied to Anax's topic in General Discussion
Put a dot in the exact middle of your screen to check this out. What you have here is this.. you have a LINE of SIGHT and you have a GUN LINE Your line of sight is ABOVE your gun line when you are holding the gun on your hip. And at some distance they CROSS. But when you aim down the sights your line of sight and your gun line are the same - EXCEPT that the gunsight is set to a RANGE, so the shot will rise above that line and drop back down to it with distance and then fall below it. YALL got that ?? So if you think about it a TINY bit you see that aiming at the reticle AND aiming along the sights is ONLY going to hit the target at CERTAIN distances. So don't tell me one works and the other don't work and don't even ever think it. Cause you are wrong. Both work so long as you have an idea what you doing - both don't work if you dont have an idea what you doing. check online for many pages of REAL LIFE "How TO Shoot" - both 'sight shooting' and 'instinct shooting' Whichever - They ALL say the same thing - you got to LEARN it to get GOOD .. neither of them is point-and-click check how shooting is calculated from the gun position in DayZ Then try this stuff in 3P and 1P, it's not the same line of sight, dude. Have fun OK ?? The moral for OP - if you want to snapshoot from the hip AND use the reticle to do it - someone standing close, just shoot at the base of their neck. It ain't difficult. xx -

Problem with 'T' is you have no way of knowing ATM if it is set or not. You just have to remember. Shotgun works on 'T' for both barrels. With the Sawnoff set to 2 barrels on one shot = very mean gun lol, don't stand in front of it

A lot of people tried the walkie talkie for quite a while. Me too. Eventually everyone gave up because : For a solo player - to contact other unknown players, the walkie talkie is useless. It is 100% a non-starter. It is too difficult to obtain and maintain, the range is MUCH too short, it uses up batteries, operating it takes time (you call every 10 mins ??) .. So users are extremely rare and never close enough to each other. The walkie talkie game parameters just do not work for making contact with strangers. Players reported that they carried a walkie talkie for a month or more and never made a contact with another player. So everyone gave up trying. For group players - they use Teamspeak all the time (of course). So groups never have radios, and they are definitely not listening out for anyone talking to them by radio At present, no one knows if the walkie talkies even work. I haven't seen one for a long time. The last ones I saw, way back, I ignored. Unfortunately they are worthless. Experienced players don't even try. xx.

I agree also - If you make a bag from animal skin and rope fill it with meat, you should be able to carry that in your hands

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
pilgrim* replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Well - when zombies are too soft and easy, everyone complains they're too easy. When zombies are dangerous, everyone complains they're dangerous. At the moment, sometimes you can kill them easily, sometimes they hurt you, sometimes they get you by surprise, sometimes you can sneak past them easily. So zombies are a bit unpredictable and you have to be careful - you never know with zombies. They can be nasty. Isn't that what zombies are supposed to be like ? You think it's safe - it's cool - you check for other players, you go to fill a canteen with water, and 3 minutes later you're panicking and running and half dead with all your gear ripped to shreds. . lol. - good game. -
Yes - plus instances are for big central 500+ player servers, you can't run them at all on DayZ little virtual servers. Running the game on many small servers is a basic game design choice. Way to go.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
pilgrim* replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Wobo are great guys and they are just WRONG about this. There are other threads already about "spine damage" They do not prove anything in that video. It's a myth. Ask them about it. Zombies deal variable damage - they CAN one hit kill sometimes. Even if you are new spawned, never took any damage previously, and are energized. Kneel in front of a zomb, Let it get a headshot at yo. Now see what I mean? xx -
Hi Striker No offence but yesterday you said " So I have been playing the standalone for a good bit and my dad wanted to try " So if you have been playing for a good while I don't understand why you ask total beginners questions today, when you can find the answers easily in these forums, just by reading them. ? or just by playing ? or you already know the answers ? anyway- you'll find plenty of honest help on these forums. Enjoy. Don't worry about hackers - there are two or three "old mod players" who ask exactly the same question, just recently. Check them out. How's it going ? xx

Cannot move when inventory screen is up.
pilgrim* replied to Purpledawg40's topic in Troubleshooting
Of course it changes nothing for you - you're left handed. But can be useful for right-handed people IMO. Is cheap and multifunction. Because I'm left handed I use the arrow keys incorporated in the keyboard's standard numeric keypad for movement. All numeric keypads have arrow keys. They are better placed and better spaced than the keyboard single function "arrow keys" and you can also map the free look, crouch, etc to keys directly around the movement keys. This is nice. I have never used WASD. I always took it for granted you can't change direction with the inventory open. I thought it was a game feature (heh). |scuse me if this is off topic] -

About upcoming stamina system, player speed reduction, vehicles and other premature game changes

There is NO "bone condition" stat in DayZ [ you think because you saw it on the internet it must be true, right ? ] -
Well - clothes are gear too, of course. Zombies don't damage backpacks, so keeping a revolver in your backpack means it won't be damaged by a zombie attack even if it is "in your hand" at the time. Zombies wreck your pants and jacket, so stuff in those pockets is most vulnerable. You know this so you can share out your important gear to the safest places. The reason for zombies existing is to destroy your gear and (maybe) hurt you too. Damage is shared out in rows for each pocket or pack, starting at the top left square and going right, then the next row down, so stuff in the top left of any container will have the most risk of being ruined, with bottom right the least risk. this is true for any damage, so some players keep rocks or useless stuff in the top left of their pack to absorb bullet damage. (the inventory system will be reworked in 0.56) There are threads about damage you can research. Already, everyone knows not to keep all your bandages in your pants pocket. If you keep a gun in there instead it will be the gun that is ruined, even if you have it "in your hand" when your pants are ruined. * Yep, some items randomly go back to pristine when you log in, occasionally. I have noticed this just once or twice. The DB seems to forget their status. I'm not complaining. The press vest that renews itself is a famous glitch. It has changed from one patch to another, I don't know if it's a DayZ myth now or still real. If it's still happening, it's because no one complains about it (lol).
