this is true - not a good idea to try to hop into servers as soon as they restart, if you really feel the need wait until you see at least three or four players on there also IMO servers that restart often are not a good place to play

Is his version up to date ? (has he played since the last update ?) or maybe he played on Experimental and forgot to change back to standard ? if not http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/222448-i-cant-find-any-servers/#entry2234267

^ In answer to your question : No there was not a recent update that just rendered the game unplayable check your ping dont connect via wifi turn off google, skype, antivirus, auto-updates and bit torrent before playing verify on the forums if if anyone ever had similar local problems (.. many) build a list of trusted servers etc
-
give him the IP of the server you are playing on - see if he can connect to that. The option to connect to a server by IP in one of the tabs at the top of the server list . If he can't connect that way, he has a problem with his internet connection. You were playing together last week, right ? Is your screen still green, anubis ?

ohhhhhh - OK .. go out there and try it right back from the start of the Mod, many players have tried ... it's still always the same ... and there are things out there you don't want to know ... this is a bit of video someone found years ago .. In the past great explorers like Gews have mounted whole expeditions into these zones. Read their accounts on the forums. Very few came back. Take their word for it - Don't go there. it IS endless you WILL die xx

this makes sense to me LoveAffair says - like going round the bottom of the map in a boat, you can go round the top in a truck

The Bone Condition Stat (Why you get one hit)... Why does it exist?
pilgrim* replied to Beizs's topic in General Discussion
Hey, why not do a search on "bone condition" before you post ? This is just one example from 2014 : << "Bone Condition" stat has NOT been changed, coz it does not exist, that means nothing to change. Spinal Fracture for Bone Condition Stat does not exist, so that means it can not be removed, due to non-existence. I don't know why Wobo come up with Bone Condition Stat in his video in first place. >> what is wrong with you guys ?? xx -
How to play DayZ when there are no servers within 170 ping?
pilgrim* replied to sorenackerman's topic in New Player Discussion
sorenackerman - you should understand that the "legit copy of DayZ" that you have bought is only the client software, it is not the whole game software. I don't think tunngle etc will help you with this. (scuse me if you understand this already) this means you have bought a a program for your pc to connect you to a DayZ server. But you do not have the server program itself. The program that runs on the server is not available to the public. So you only have part of the software you need to run a server for yourself and connect to it. The rest of the software for either DayZ Mod or DayZ SA cannot be found legally. Soo - it is not easy to set up a server for yourself, it is a technical challenge. BUT if you want to and you have the knowledge and the time - it can be done. For instance (for starters) - you can find the server sofware to set up DayZ Epoch, available legally. Or ARMA itself. If you are interested in doing this, perhaps you should start by setting up your own ARMA server. This is "easiest". This will give you the understanding and skills you need to go further. It is legal, you can find very good help and support, you can understand the difficulties of running your own server at home.. it's an interesting hobby. You know that you can install a server on your own pc, and connect to it through the same pc, so you have a one machine setup.. it does not have to be a remote separate server - as long as your hardware is up to it. Then of course you can also connect other pcs via a local area network (ethernet, café style) or via VPN if you like. There is some info here (and you can find plenty more if you look around) : htps://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_Dedicated_Server#Introduction http://www.kellys-heroes.eu/files/tutorials/dedicated/ http://forums.firedaemon.com/howtos/arma-2-dayz-epoch-as-a-windows-service.155/ http://epochmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/13459-how-to-setup-a-dayz-server-highly-detailed-70-steps/ The advantage of this is - you get know how to do it (needs some trials and experience). Also these are good games. It is legal so no probs and you find plenty of help. And you will already know how to set up and run a server if DayZ SA mods start arriving sometime in the future. Also, once you have the knowhow to set up your own server, there are very many games that run in a similar way, so you have a whole range of options open to you, yes ? [ok this is just a heads up in case you are interested, check around and yo will find experts pleased to help you] xx -

IMO It's pretty much like wearing rubber gear and covering yourself with jelly Do what you like at home, but don't ever go out in the street like that -
How to play DayZ when there are no servers within 170 ping?
pilgrim* replied to sorenackerman's topic in New Player Discussion
yes TRUE but .. special situation in Bangladesh = Bangladesh ISPs incorporate deliberate latency and low bandwidth In Bangladesh the LSPs either slow down or block access to online gaming, VoIP, video, P2P (etc) to conserve bandwidth - because they really don't have much bandwidth to share out. So the internet for most users is only static web pages and local FTP pirate movie caches etc. I heard (eg) that SpeedTest is blocked so users won't realise how much their services are castrated. (even Windows Update is blocked by some local ISPs .. grim) Bangladesh government policy "asks" the two IIG (international internet gateways) to sustain a 75% throttle on streaming/VoIP/gaming so that baseline connectivity is available to more users check connectivity of some ISPs in Bangladesh http://www.sdnbd.org/sdi/issues/IT-computer/isp-bd.htm a lot of these guys don't host their own webpage on their own service (see what I mean ?) they look like small enterprise or private individuals selling-on bandwidth "best" provider is very expensive 114.31.0.72 www.bdcom.com but still, I get 100ms gap between the IX and 114.31.0.72 in Dhaka, guess that's between the IIG and NIX - bdcom is a national internet distrib. (NIX). This is just one ping, right.. slowed by 100ms .. then add on whatever ms from the ISP to the end user (will be considerable). A single ping doesn't mean a game connection will sustain at that rate if it's deliberately throttled. cant be more than 100,000 fixed broadband Internet subscribers in the whole country, right? They already paying top rates. Nearly all in Dhaka, right ? * IMO to do better, sorenackerman would have to a ) set up as a Local Service Provider himself. Maybe he already is (you an internet café, sorenackerman ?). but I think 170ms looks like total top whack and may probably not sustain, will drop as soon as you start playing b ) OR go find a DayZ Mod and get that running for yourself, or set it up local at your fave internet café = best practical solution = most fun. People will love you for it. ( or find out if anyone in govt or university or IT has better access, and how they get that, heh ) good luck -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning in fact version ordering is pretty much down to however the team does it, as long as they understand where they are but being techno-folk they do like to pretend that it runs on cold logic this is my experience without mentioning anyone at Orange, HP, Philips or STMicroelectronics, or even (heh) SWIFT or any other where major/minor versions never get swapped to fit the numbers ;) [ hi guys ! ] EDIT : writing software is not an easy fun job. I have zero bad to say about anyone's methodology. Kudos BI
-
version numbering convention ? I guess by 0.56 they mean 0.5.6 So could go 0.5.6 ... / .. 0.5.9 .. 0.5.10 .. 0.5.11

when you dead you can hear them eating you - that is horrible too
-
ask yourself = do I want to survive ? 1 ) be smart, work at it - newspawn is difficult or 2 ) high pop = eat other players it's hell, do what you have to do

If you use the number pad for movement, you can't start to move when you have the inventory open. But if you are running you can open and close the inventory. In action, this is all you need to do with it. When you have the habit this it's not a problem. For left handers its a much bigger advantage to have movement on the numeric pad, against being able to do fancy stuff with your inventory http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/224312-cannot-move-when-inventory-screen-is-up/#entry2254995

i would like to start a discussion about the current looting mechanics...
pilgrim* replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
Move only in straight lines when the inventory is open, would solve this Because of my keyboard setup,( movement on number pad) I played for a while like this, with - only straight line movement when inventory is open - not realizing I could do differently. Was not a problem at all. Even now with this corrected I still do the same. You make sure you have slots free before you go in to loot, and I have "interact" on my mousewheel press button; So I can pick up loot, and also open doors with one click. To find loot - you search for it visually, as Joe says. Plenty of times Ive crawled around floors to see what was stuck under tables. You can still flash open inventory when you are in place, not moving, if you need to check for or to pick up difficult stuff. And you can still open your inventory and reload while you are running etc But most players would object strongly. I don't think this would be popular at all. xx -
not people, dude - it' the rabbits they used to drink beer, count ammo, and groan .. check the forums (I aint kidding) They bad rabbits.. Now I don't know if it's still the rabbits or just general when a server gets populated.. but a zombie growl right behind your neck when you're way out in a bush in nowhere - sure gets you alert, heh.
-
here's a tip tehkalashnikov - sometimes the blur sticks around after it should have cleared up If you open you video settings in the game, and dont change them, just close them again, then the blur goes away immediately it's worth trying.. i used to wander around after zobie attacks in a blur. i think its the 'shock' and sometimes it stays, took me a while to understand this - so try it as soon as you're out of danger, takes 10 seconds see if it works. DayZ = good game, enjoy

^ you got to be tough to be a farmer Takes about 15 minutes, in fact If you're lucky but you aint hardly lucky And the server restarts blow it all away And your spade rots to rust and the thieves come and the crops rot in 3 minutes if you dont pick them And there's a drought, their aint no rain And the rivers are poison And if you harvest your crops to the ground they vanish in 1 minute And if you store your crops in a heap they vanish in 10 minutes And your pumpkins turn invisible, Lord And there's a blight comes its hard you got to be tough It's like the Grapes of Wrath in there xx

Admins can turn the server off when they like. I guess this means they can just have their server on when they play themselves, if that suites them. Public or Private, don't make no difference far as I can see from the rules. But a more interesting thing for admins is to change the server name (description) - any text change means that server won't show up in your list of servers anymore, because it will be somewhere else in the list "under a different name" OK ? This seems common. There's no restriction to how often you change the name. Doing that will dump any players who haven't noted the IP, - with a name change and not remembering the IP they won't find their way back. The only way to be sure you log in to the same server is using the IP.. but few players do that, and there's no way to list by IP, and no way to put your own tags on servers. So note the IP, then you can have fun chasing servers around if you're inclined, and seeing how many hours they stay up. xx

these are nitrogen zepplins

hmm.. Going for realism: Russia is running at less than one gun per ten population at the moment. DayZ is already way over that, isn't it ? for interest, check out the real figures, see if you can find Russia in this list ? : guns per capita xx
