Aircraft: What kinds would you like to see? Share your opinion!
pilgrim* replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
might be nice to have a "NO" option in this poll ? but this has been discussed before, ya know... I thought maybe you'd forgotten or not checked ? but NoProb Flimm-Flam, I'm really not attacking you, friend. There are a lot of new players since the last couple of helicopter arguments who haven't expressed an opinion. Go for it. -

How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?
pilgrim* replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
Loot splosions - building and exploiting them - is the biggest flaw in the game currently AND it is more detrimental to gameplay Obviously http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/225575-hidden-loots-at-the-military-base/#entry2271071 -
Now if you had any single-handed weapon in your RIGHT HAND (as usual) And a police riot shield - or a dustbin lid - or maybe just a chunk of wood in your LEFT HAND Then that should give you greater protection, at least. This is not an answer to "melee moves" or the way damage is calculated, or synchronized attack/parry animations But maybe could add a little extra interest and variety to face-to-face.

How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?
pilgrim* replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
Well in this game there is NOT any grass right in front of your eyes - you just THINK there is Anyone standing 20 yards away can see you laying out there on a perfectly flat cut lawn, looking damn silly But we had ALL this argument before go your own way friend -
What is it that drives you to play DayZ a lot?

And the "You Are Dead" message is a lot less fun too. -

" 3rd person imitates real-life more than 1pp does " I play 1PP too, I enjoy it, and I used to play DOOM in 1PP too - wow sorry to be so boring; i understand Gews POV. For "realism" and gameplay what we should all be discussing and worrying about right NOW is http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/225575-hidden-loots-at-the-military-base/#entry2271071 -

I got a broken collarbone and some screws in it, broken ribs, bust knee = looks like 4-6 months off work explains the "a lot" hmm .. guess I could play some other game ? i think it's the combination of boredom and adrenaline You do the totally flat boring stuff, but all the time doing that you never know when the adrenaline will hit alert, contact, action, death can happen anywhere for any reason This boredom/adrenaline combination has to be something like the real life situation, right ? xx -

How to make .22 long-range sniping impossible/unviable?
pilgrim* replied to Sister Ray's topic in Suggestions
Got to ask yourself how much energy a .22 bullet would carry at 870 yards IMO for any kind of cartridge the answer is "really not much" say ( .. kind of, depending..) around 10 - 20 j top ?? http://www.federalpremium.com/ballistics_calculator/default.aspx EDIT : I may be wrong about this but I read 16 j as around the muzzle energy of a standard legal air rifle ? So that a .22 rifle could reasonably be expected to cause comparable damage at 800m to a point blank air rifle discharge ? -

Right Bororm! - and.. hey .. considering real life warfare, with incrusted multimedia and monitoring, eyes in the sky, digital intelligent area control systems, full live feed front line, and mobile battle awareness and command computers .. where's the skill in that ? All that stuff just lowers the tone sooo much. And didn't the POPE ban crossbows back around CE 1300 ? Maybe we should take all the guns out of the game too.. these modern weapons just make everything toooo easy. Go for 1pp with spades and knuckledusters only. .. more gritty, right? Checking out Youtube I was looking at all the fights on staircases (a classic DayZ situation). There are MANY of them.. fairly exciting, or very exciting, pretty skilled.. highly interesting But I couldn't find ANY in 1st person only... I don't know why - I guess there must be a reason? anybody know ? -
just go into it with the spirit that its under development and try things out speaking for myself, this is more interesting and more fun than playing a 'finished' game but ok .. maybe it's just me ?
-
I think -if you want to fight go to prison island (Skalisty, all new) is built for
-
Hey look, this is one more "Is DayZ dying?" thread... just go play the game I think in fact people mainly miss that there was no update last week don't worry people, on Wednesday it will all be different again heh [.. don't talk about it - this is Monday Morning and Boneboys just came online after a rough weekend]
-
can't put your finger on the difference ? in the Mod it was the crazy-ass Zombies
-
You looted the whole of Berezino without getting shot at ? - that is seriously strange

wow ! " most are just blowing hot air " ? lmfao - are you real ? -
well.. totally heres a long text only interesting to nerds and players who look at HOW a game is built for immersion and for folks so immersed they can't even guess how it works - sorry dudes, maybe just skip it for the OP - Gews is always logical. He exactly knows the difference between shooting a gun and a simulation. He is interested in making the simulation better and he is objecting to a parameter, not to a concept. - I'm not so methodical, I'll have to play it to judge the feeling, but very often he's right.

On a computer screen how do you make something clearer without making it bigger ? Switch off anti-aliasing ? Put it on a contrasting background ?

Really you don't know yet ? !! OK - I aint going to tell you. This is seriously messing up the game. You've heard all these honest players complaining there's no loot. While the gangsters and thieves are the people with gold watches, gold chains, gold teeth, riding around in big cars.
-
This is called a loot explosion, a splosion It turns up is because of the way players take loot and move loot around in the new loot system It can happen by accident but it i can be started up by an exploit The more loot there is in one place the less there is on the rest of the map - so players either hate it or exploit it The Devs are working on this (difficult, important) problem. It breaks the game. Maybe it will be fixed this week [edit - ermm.. maybe it wil be fixed next update]
