  1. Hi OnionOfShame - good to hear a sane person with a thoughtful point of view.
  2. There is an alternative solution to all this : It is about the way the central loot economy was intended to be set up in the first place - and what some Devs suggested it was devised for. One aim of the central loot economy as it was first discussed, was to encourage player movement between servers. If BI go further with the central economy, as I believe they first planned, and make some modifications to meet the current problem, they can make it a lot less profitable to run "privatized" public hive servers. And also -a major advantage - they take the server providers out of the loop completely. Why? - because BI controls the loot distribution 100%, They can do what they like with it. By continuing to develop it as originally envisaged, BI can make the game a lot less advantageous for players to run low pop-kick servers where they keep out competition and stash "private" loot. If it is made "economically" worthwhile - and I mean worthwhile in the central loot economy - to play on +12 pop servers, then that will happen. And then even the low-pop kick admins will have to come out of their holes or invite more players in. This is a different way of looking at this BIG problem. It could be a useful way of thinking: https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/231002-tents-and-persistence-keep-out-public-servers-and-the-devs/#entry2329561 xx

    Random Character Death

Well a couple of things come to mind: 1 ) - vehicles are iffy and dangerous ATM - ask around or check youtube - you MIGHT die if you get in or out of one while it is moving even slightly (sliding) even with the engine turned off. And I heard that just opening the passenger door while someone else was driving could kill you. I dont know much about vehicles, but I've heard great horror stories, there are several on this forum. 2 ) There are also individual server-hive problems turning up sometimes - So if you log in geared up and find yourself in your underwear on a beach - DO NOT Log Out in the normal way - don't move at all - Right away either pull out the ethernet connection or open Task Manager and turn off DayZ. Then when you restart DayZ and log in somewhere else (a known server you trust) you stand a good chance of having your gear. But if you play or DO anything as a freshspawn, including doing the official Log Out - you might probably end up registered in the hive as a real freshspawn. This has happened to me a good few times on "normal public servers" but I've always got my gear back by doing as I suggest. OK - that's two things worth knowing IMO. But the main thing is this - "the server is authoritative" - that means the SERVER decides where you are, ALWAYS, and then tells you about it. So if you are running across a field.. you send your keypress actions to the server, and the server calculates what effect that has, and THEN the server sends back your position and finally you see it on the screen. So if for some reason there is any noticeable delay between the server sending your "real" position and you seeing it - for instance due to variable lag on your connection? or Windows decides to download files in the middle of the game? or ANY other reason, then what you see is just a little AFTER the serve decides what happens. Remember the server is ALWAYS right..What you see on the screen should be real close (milliseconds) but it comes Second in importance - that is the Law. The server IS Judge Dredd. There is some real clever stuff to reduce the effect even further, so it hardly ever causes any problem, but it's a fact of life when you playing on internet servers, it is an online game problem for every game, not a DayZ problem. Normally it is completely not noticable - but this desync (lag) can have bad effects when it gets appreciable (this is rare now in DayZ; a LOT better than it was IMO). So - You run across to the edge of the roof, when you see you are at the edge you stop, but with bad lag, the server already knows that you ran off the edge.and you fell - but because of the desync you won't even see yourself falling - on your screen you'll still be moving closer to the edge and suddenly "you are dead". The most obvious example of "server authority" is when a server turns off and you get the message in red "no communication for 10 seconds" etc.. You can still run around and do things, but the server knows nothing is happening. You can run a long way in 30 seconds, but when you log back in you'll be exactly where you were when the server shut down the first second. The server always decides. Here's a little explanation of lag in games: might help you more than my attempt:. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lag OK - So what to do ? There is much advice around the forum on ways to reduce lag if it is caused at your end - the pc and your connection . If the server is laggy, best find another. But if your friends play with you on the same server with no problem, then definitely check your PC.. For instance some antivirus can REALLY slow down your game (in sudden fits and starts, too - I turn mine off, then virus check later) , but that's only one example - there is forum advice here from better informed players than me. For instance everyone agrees an SSD can really smooth out the game even if your PC is a little underpowered. And defrag your HD, that can't hurt. And stop all automatic update programs if you can (there are quite a few) - like Adobe deciding to get on line right now to see if you need a better PDF in the middle of a gunfight. Don't use a WIFI connection, use Ethernet. Don't run other stuff while you're playing..(nope, not even Skype or Facebook or Bittorrent - live without them) Keep your internet connection as clear as you can. Make sure no one else is on the home network, check if the kid brother is streaming Game of Thrones behind your back? And then you can adjust the game video settings too, to get the best out of your card. And DayZ is heavy on CPU where a lot of games move that load out to the GPU. Post the full specs of your machine, please - this will help a lot - also read the tech forum thread here, you may find a ready made solution ================= THEN, with the specifications - someone intelligent - i.e. Kichilron ( he has the highest IQ in recorded history ) will give you best advice. It's an established scientific fact that KICHILRON has 83.7% of the whole combined intelligence of the entire player base. In his spare time he is Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin (he easily does both at once, even on camera). His real name is John von Neumann. Here is KICHILRON giving advice on lag to two heads of state Notice he has already drunk both his glasses of gin xx

    Random Character Death

If your shoes and pants are ruined it is normally an indication you fell off something - so where were you exactly when those events happened? In buildings, on rocks, jumping, going up or downstairs, ladders, or maybe close to the edge of a roof or a drop? While you were playing did you notice any lag ? I don't see that reinstalling Steam will make any difference xx
  7. This is off topic, but: The clan ad on this forum, for the clan "KillOnSight" say they are sponsored by "server providers"

Cant log into any server bug

ALL the Gameservers worldwide had zero players at 1900h CET - from USA to Australia "I filtered on "Gameservers" with ping set to 500 Now 2000H I see people on all of them xx
  9. 1 ) BI gave real consideration to the implications of taking loot from server to server - read back on it, then you can argue from a basis of information. the implications of taking loot from server to server is central to the BI hive concept, BI are working on loot equilibrium across servers and testing it VERY seriously. It is a DayZ core feature. Ask them about it. 2 ) I SAID (he shouts) I said that "server hopper" is an insulting term used by people as a catch-all dirty name, AND because it is INTENDED to be an insult it does not have a real content (insults don't need content, insults hate content). It is like using insulting names for people of other races or religions. Calling someone a "n*****" or a "s****" is NOT saying anything AT ALL about that person, It is just letting everyone know that you yourself are the worst sort of idiot. 3 ) ARE "they are a massive problem" ? Really? - OK, then show me your FACTS - show me the information, WHERE did you get that information from? Let me see it. You must know that saying "they are a massive problem" without any evidence, is just hearsay, dude - look up the word, it is not admissible evidence. It is smack talk, inflammatory rubbish - it's a noise. All you rely on (so far) is overheard web-talk, but you know the web is full of tinfoil-hat conspiracy theory, hung-over haters, urban myth, and "I-hear-tell" bollocks, tripe, codswallop and straight cant. Nope, sorry - you have not (yet) shown me any evidence except "oh, but everyone knows it." - hearsay dude - it is not evidence. I know you SHALL quote me the FACTS and FIGURES because you are an honest thoughtful guy. You don't believe what you read on the net without first checking it is TRUE. You do your own research, and think it through, and you make a sane adult assessment - right? I came to my opinion - no big deal - (you can disagree, it is your right). Still, maybe I'm wrong? If you want to show me I'm wrong, just put those facts in front of me - if you are correct I'll apologize to you. OK ? xx but hey iClown - please please DONT quote my whole post again.. it makes it more difficult to find what YOU want to say, and the result is 3 or 4 pages of my own text repeated and repeated over and over again. Man, even I'M bored - I guess by now everyone else left the thread? Just say what you have to say in your own words.

What are the best towns to loot in DayZ?

Finding a good sniping rifle and ammo is your only problem - being a sniper you know how to do that. You know where to look and you know it could take an hour or a week. Or pick up a no-scope Mosin and play Stalingrad.. you can find those anywhere at all. A talented mid-range sniper can one-shot drop a dodging fly stone dead with a Mosin-Nagent. Wear any damaged crap clothes you find on the way from spawn, and a schoolkid backpack (who cares), and a hat, - anything damaged the other players usually leave behind - make yourself a stone knife, plus grab anything you find that you can melee with. If you come across a sewing or leather kit then fix what your wearing to 'worn' in 10 seconds.. there's plenty of ALL this stuff everywhere, even after looters have gone through 20 times. OK - IMO FIRST take 2-3 bags of rice (or a bunch of cans) and 2 or 3 canteens of water go hang out in Chapaevsk the high-rise city on the hill between Cherno and the airstrip you'll have as many sniping opportunities as you can deal with. That place is a sniper training ground - it is like Stalingrad - you need to know your way around, learn the ground and roof routes, know the (only) two water pumps (police cars and water are good sniper bait), know when you're overlooked and where from, know what to do when you're located (you will be), hone your sense of danger, know your exits and boltholes and when to stealth, where to hide, when to run (and where to) know the available lines of fire (there are SO MANY), which buildings and windows give oversight on which areas, and what are your blind spots. It's a REAL education for a solo dude, you won't be lonely. check youtube see some of the stuff that happens there xx [edit] The hunting hides all have either a canteen, binocs, a rangefinder, or a Mosin suppressor in them, often they have two or three of these things together. Not many players want that stuff so it tends to lie around, always check as you go past.
  12. Thanks for that, yes I read all your text twice, in fact a lot of the interesting parts I wrote myself. My ping to Tokyo is 380, very late night, best case. - I don't log on distant servers every session dude, jeez.. For FUN and INTEREST I try to get to distance places occasionally from time to time (usually after a heavy session to stress-down) - you've heard of "going on holiday?" Same thing, ok? For me this is a little part-time hobby - and if it works I sometimes meet people, it gives me an opportunity to see who they are, what they think, and how THEY play, and sometimes I go back there. I do this for "fun" - Look up fun and quote me on it. Dude, my mention that I began to learn Romanian because of DayZ does NOT make me a PINKO .. do you really use words like "pinko"? (honestly - that made me laugh.). Romanian is a lovely language, I first heard it thanks to DayZ, and that started me on whole new deeper important understanding of European history - totally thanks to DayZ - so "pinko" gave me a fit of the chuckles.. Boy, we do all live in so much ignorance don't we? If I didn't laugh about it I'd cry. OK - to answer your other few points: You misunderstood about ping - You CAN play DayZ with a ping well over 150 if you WANT .. 200 or 300 will work fine if the connection is stable (Boneboys has pointed this out) but I like 30-70 for my game sessions (that's my preference). Mostly I set the filter to 50 to play the local area - France, Holland, Germany, ya know? I live in the middle of Europe. If I set the ping to >100 I have 450 public servers on my list (Saturday night, around 1800h) France, UK, Norway, Germany Belgium, Spain, Sweden,Italy, etc, (and at 150-170 sometimes Russia, Romania, Ukraine).. When I'm up for a real long play session, I generally set my max ping at 50 (not to 150 as you propose). All the comments about server populations are based on a 50-100 ping, so I'm not kicked for bad ping. Read my Survey of What is REALLY happening, this will give you some FACTS of server use: https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/230682-make-sure-to-report-public-servers-that-kick-for-no-reason/page-3#entry2327990 This is just MATH, not opinion. Back to the rest of your comments : Nope, I haven't carried an automatic weapon for months (well, one, in fact by a fluke ) Military automatics don't interest me a lot, and the game is knee-deep in guns. Unless you want to gear up fast and PvP for your main game you don't need to go to high loot places. When people rant about "server hoppers" I think they are really griping about automatic weapons and nothing else. You don't like my fire axe? (I'm so hurt!) I like to have a good axe for several reasons, a fire-axe is nice against zombies and in melee - and I also carry something I can dig with (right?) - an ice-axe for instance; ok backup for melee too. Your essay on stone knives is very interesting, I've got a couple of thousand hours play time(I think), so I already know most of the stone knife stuff, but thanks, other people might not be clued up. You should warn them that killing an animal with any hand weapon is difficult (lol, did you try yet?).. there is a neat way to trap pigs with just a melee weapon, a genuine stone-age historical technique, but I'll keep that to myself - working it out is half the fun of the game (and it ain't so obvious). So read the statistics in the link above, then see if your argument holds water. It is better to know the facts before having the opinion, don't you agree? I could give you the list of servers that kicked me this weekend while I was doing the survey (15 kicks) - they all had pings of 40-70 and they all had names like "friendly" etc. I did not bother trying any of the "don't join" or the "join = ban" or "whitelist" or "keep out clan only" public servers.. This is why IMO "server hopper" is just an insulting term, with no real or logical meaning - like a racist slur. Server admins are keeping their public servers private because : - it is cheaper than hiring a private server, - and they can store up loot safely, - and they can play on the public hive when they want to. To test this theory, or have evidence for your own theory - start at the top of your low ping list and log in to each low-pop public server, work down the list - Note how many let you in. This may show you there is not a lot of "server hopping" as people wrongly call it - and players who even try to do that are looking only for automatic weapons so that they can PvP. Or maybe they are honest players looking for a place to play? People who try to log in to a public server are not "evil people". "server hopper" is an insult word used to excuse a lot of bad talk and sloppy thinking. It reminds me of the "refugees are stealing jobs" talk we hear in the real world. Bottom line - banning the movement of gear between servers is tantamount to stopping player movement between servers (like WHY bother if you loose your important gear, or any gear?). It means all servers have semi-private hives, end of the public hive. With an average of between7-11 players per server (read the statistics for Saturday night) this means the end of DayZ. The bad admins won't have any reason to store loot and no one to play with, they'll close down. The number of "official" severs depends on the number of hired servers, so official serves will be reduced too. The normal players will be stuck on one server with a few regulars - and you soon find out that you are on a server with three farmers and one team of killers. The admins can stop-start their sever when they like, so your server may not even be online tonight, and so your portable gear is gone while you wait for the admin to come back, when he feels like it (maybe next weekend). So you end up with players often starting up fresh, or just sticking with the same few players. The choice and the wide range game is gone. You can't even join the fun when you notice one server is maxed tonight - unless you go there in your underwear. And plenty of players (the majority) do not want to play private with one club. Some love it (that's cool) but many think it is too limiting. They want new experiences. There is a problem - but - "server hoppers" is an insult, it is not the name of the problem. Your ideas show that you've thought about it, beanz for that iClown, but I'm sure your suggestion will not work. Sorry dude. and ps - I could give you examples of real-world social-insult words, used exactly the way "server hopper" is used, and for the same reasons - but they are illegal because they lead to bad mindless crap. AND I could explain how to hunt a pig with just a stone knife. I hope you don't claim it's an 'exploit' - It ain't, it is just being a very good, cunning experienced player-hunter and using your brain to work it out.So work it out. And do the same here - read https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/230682-make-sure-to-report-public-servers-that-kick-for-no-reason/page-3#entry2327990 and work out what is REALLY happening. For background on how the problem got started read https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/229083-kicking-from-vilayer-server-is-allowed/page-4#entry2310557 OK, I put PLENTY of work into this, it takes a while to read, and a hell of a time for me to research and understand and write. So that's it. If you want the real info read these two articles, get INFORMED, then have the discussion. I am definitely out now.. total end of topic. xx thanx people - hope to see your views iClown
  13. That's true ! ,yesterday I was on a server with just a few players, - I knew that half of them were fixing a truck, heard them drive off, and the others were logging in, so mostly they must be starting to looting the coast towns I was way inland - a mile from the nearest road or track, and twice as far from any town or village, moving behind thick trees inside the edge of a forest, - an isolated place where most people don't bother to go because it takes too long and there is nothing there. I was running and stealthing through woods and taking detours for about an hour just to reach that place. I trotted round the tree (not going fast) and actually walked full into a guy doing the same coming the other way. We bounced off each other (really)! and both opened fire from shock. He was firing even before he started aiming. I had a 4-shot shotgun and he had a machine pistol. No time to move. We just blasted in panic with the barrels touching each others bodies. Lasted about 1.5 seconds ? Then I was dead. I don't know what happened to the other guy. The same I hope. Seriously - that made my day yesterday. I swear this weekend has been the GREATEST DayZ I've played for a long.time. Totally brilliant - In maybe total of 20 hours play I only got close to 3 people and 1 completely insane zombie, but the whole 20 hours was great.. AND that includes after getting kicked from 14 pubic servers. Eventually I found 2 that run daylight till about 3am my time - and they don't mind strangers who stick around. So after a lot of hassle, a lot of work and server searching (and also several servers with hive connection errors that want to dump you on the beach) and a lot of getting kicked at login or after 5 or 15 minutes, - even with all that it came out to be a 5 Star DayZ Weekend. xx
  14. OK, So here are some FACTS - so we can have something concrete to argue about -Tonight I set my server list to show ping <100 .And this is what I saw tonight, Saturday night 1800h in Europe (primetime?). I see 450 public servers: only 40 servers out of 450 public servers have 15+ players online 250 public servers have 5 to 14 players (max) per server (usually around 8-11 players) 160 public servers have 1-4 players * 410 public servers from those 450 have an average of less than 7 players online tonight (that's 91% of all the public servers I polled) Why am I am seeing 40 medium/high pop and 400 low pop ? ( just 7 public servers were really full in my list ) If we take it that 15+ players counts as 'high pop' then it works out that for each 1 high pop public server there are 40 low pop. So, for instance, all these "hoppers" each have to hop 40 times to turn up just once on each of the low pop servers. I think hoppers are an urban myth. When I do the math, from the figures for 'who is online tonight' from my list (remember I have to count 15+ players as 'high pop" - what I call "medium to high pop") To get the figures, I average out the players per server according to the populations I have noted, I find the max possible, the min possible, and average those - and ... medium to high pop players = 1100 low pop players = 2775 players on 'real' high- pop (i.e. FULL) public servers = about 450 so are the 400 low pop admins sad and lonely on their pubic servers? There are a REAL LOT of low pop public servers on Saturday night.. right? If they ARE all kicking strangers, as KenoSkir88 suggests, I guess they want to stay 'clan-only' and low-pop? Or they just don't like strangers? And if they are not kicking, why do 400+ public servers have around 7 players per server? Do 'vanilla' players like to crowd together on a couple of maxed-out servers? So now you all can argue from the facts, instead of arguing from emotion with no logical backup. I have one little question (just for myself) What number of players makes a server "legitimate" to play on? Is 40/40 the ideal ? More than two-thirds of tonight's public server players are on servers with tops 14 players or less - are they all "wrong"? xx
  15. OK I understand : If everyone joined low pop servers, then those servers would be full servers I wonder why nobody thought of that? Let's all try it xx (no offence, hope you don't mind a little irony there, KenoSkir88 )

the bus needs to be fixed!

Off road bus driving is kind of - special. That's why IRL you don't see much of it. https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/230841-the-magic-fun-bus-059-stable/#entry2327902
  17. If you like starting a new character, there are ways of doing that.. There are no "server hoppers" it is a Myth For me "server hopping" - I move around from one server to another.. usually I am at the top of the player list by the time I move on; After a couple of hours I need a stress break. Usually other people on that server do not stay as long as I do (maybe they dont have the time to play so long, maybe they 'hop') I have fought in Saudi Arabia and in London, I roamed around the Midwest, I joined a squad in Moscow, I hung out with a Ukranian bandit, I have made friends in Romania (even learned some of the language) I have logged in to a Tokyo server, I have met and interacted with people from around the world.. this is GOOD.. this is AMAZING .. this is my kick..Llimiting yourself to a tiny private-member club is IMO - a little bit SAD - but ok if that's what you want, hang with your mates and jaw.. there is a WORLD OUTSIDE, to bad you miss out on it..why not JOIN the whole Human Race? Find out who you share our PLANET with. Join the Human Race, DayZ is your opportunity. Server Hopping? - I hardly ever go near 'high loot' areas, I'm a solo player and it is not worth my while. - between midday (weekdays) and 5pm I am kicked from public servers a little MORE than 50% of the time..some public servers autokick (quite a few).; but mainly I'm just kicked after 5 or 10 mins; So for me, server 'hopping' comes down to searching for a public server admin who plays FAIR on his 'public' server. Try it yourself - list your 20 lowest-ping public servers tonight - start at the top and work down the list.. see how many let you play for more than 10 minutes (or at all). I'll bet it's LESS than 50%. And of the 8 or 10 that accept you, look again tomorrow, see if they are on line (plenty of admins only turn on their servers for an hour or so when they are playing themselves). Finding a public server you can PLAY and your tent will be there tomorrow is DIFFICULT. - why do you think +75% of public servers have only 2-5 players, and just a tiny few have 25-40 players ? Because the PUBLIC can NOT get on to PUBLIC servers. And specially, I think this is sad for young players and newcomers, who really still think they can play on a public server just because it says "public" on the list. They have not got cynical and old and tired yet, they don't know that "public" means "you'll quite probably get kicked and it might take you an hour before you can play ANYWHERE" if they don't give up in disgust first. - most "server hoppers" do not in fact hop - if by "hoppers" you mean players who are out for fast loot, in FACT most of THEM are on join=kick servers, gearing up for the evening's PvP. There are not many successful cynical "hoppers" around - that word "server hopper" is just a slur word, it is a buzzword insult, like many that are applied to racial minorities, to women, to 'enemies' - it dehumanizes the player, you can use it as an insult without having to think what it means. That's a standard fascist technique - I can NOT put up a tent or stash a barrel even on the servers that don't kick me - because that server will maybe change it's name by tomorrow, or vanish, or the admin will come back for the night and turn the autokick back on. The "official" server instances are hired out to clients whenever a client wants one in that region -it is an automatic process - so dont bank on an 'official' server staying safe, by tomorrow that IP may be a private server, or at least a public server with a differnt name, and reset from zero. - try finding a daylight server after your local realtime nightfall that does not have 40/40 players on it - you will find 3 or 4 tht are 40/40s and a dozen or more with 5 players that will kick you so fast you'll be amazed. ALL this to say - what the hell do you expect the kids to do? - stay in their ghetto on a rare 40/40 server and try to find 1 can of beans while the geared up lootfarmers come over from their joinkick servers to gun them down in the street for laughs? try to go find a server somewhere that might gain them some kit, and if there is none (and they CAN get on) then go somewhere else and keep looking? And after all, what is wrong with players turning up close to high loot areas? That's where the snipers hang out (richt crackshots?) .. that's where the sudden deadly face-to-face happens most often.. that's where the teams walk into each other unexpectedly.. you might consider that a whole game in itself.. Unless you thiink it's UNFAIR tha you cant right NOW have an AK, jungle boots, and a thouseand rounds - because someone got there first? (did you have a tantrum?) I have always found everything I need, including full mill kit, scattered around MILES from any military base or airport. The MOST difficult things to find are good fishooks, a pristine knife, a fireaxe, a good green backpack.. and that's it... the whole map is knee-deep in guns of all kinds. Every shed has batteries, tyres, plugs in it. server hoppers? nah, they dont exist, they dont cause trouble, they are in your head, they dont make NO difference..it's STRAW DOGS mate, forget about it.. enjoy the game. xx pilgrim - sorry to be boring, dudes, but "server hoppers" are a myth - the bogymen to blame for everything - [scuse me being impolite , but IMO they are yo's excuse for being a crappy player] = > If starting a new character is a problem, put a gun under your chin, pull the trigger. <=
  18. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plato#Dialectic Nope, a "one person server" is a server where the admin kicks everyone who tries to join - go take a look. Or maybe just read the thread. ( you gonna be hungover this morning ) sunshine
  19. No it is not a RANT it is a concise outline explaining how the games industry is structured, made simple to be understandable even to naive folk, young people, gamers with very limited business experience, and interested parties with short attention spans. Anyone who can watch a 30 minute documentary but can not read 12 lines of simple text is SCREWED. This is not an insult, it is a simple general truth about life; and I mean - you shall have problems in your lives and you shall NEVER know where they are coming from. You will not solve those problems. The info you "are not going to verify" is public domain, The government in any Western country REQUIRES this information, it is unlikely to be false (governments don't like false declarations). I gave the links. This stuff is open to everyone and it is public domain for a reason (you have heard of democracy?) - check it out. Put 2 and 2 together for yourself. NO, it is not true that "these practices are guaranteed to continue". It IS TRUE that there is no mechanism in place to improve the situation. Time to set up an oversight mechanism, right? The actors involved are BI and the SPs.. Given this FACT, it is very easy for anyone with half a brain see why the situation has arisen and why it continues. There is an agreement between BI and each of the SPs. When you find it, put it up here on the forum to remind everyone what it states exactly. And tell us what happens when the terms of the agreement are broken? Just the bit about illegal server admin activities. HOW are they POLICED ? [edit] SPs in normal operation have NO interest in what goes on inside a game. The SP provides the server, it installs the game. An SP might be paying for 25,000 servers with 300 different games running on them, at at typically 6 games instances per server. So the SP has maybe 7500000 individual games, set up to hire out. The SP does NOT interest itself - it does not ever interfere at all - in what happens inside those games. Game-play is not the SPs business. And note - not all the SPs are very small (in manpower) - at least one chosen by BI, is pretty BIG, and games are just a minor sector of it's activities. So the BI agreement with SPs was to bring together the Game Designer and the Server Provider. Then both sides could cooperate in a way that does not normally happen with SPs. It is an unusual agreement - based on this game having unusual game-play requirements, and instance use/abuse, game-maintenance, and unpaid 'official' servers, The aim was to make DayZ work for the players. What are the Sanctions in this agreement? How is it Enforced? WHO checks complaints from players who have not hired a server (ie gamers who are not clients of an SP and have no hire&support agreement with the SP). How much free support should the SPs give them? Normally SP's never provide player support, only technical server support. Have some SPs decided they are being asked too much? IF goodwill is not enough - what can BI do if it thinks the SPs are not upholding the BI-SP agreement or if the SPs are not going with the SPIRIT of the agreement? Who checks the SPs actions? What should BI do, exactly? I worked out the situation, and pointed to the future problems, and some possible answers to this stuff a year ago, I don't have anything to add - have a nice christmas. xx
  20. Ok thanks for that, Zod i'm totally impressed by your IQ there - I thought a "one person server" was a public server where the admin kicked everyone else who joined.. we used to call them loot farms but now they are standard so we call them public "one person servers" according to KenoSkir88 Around where I live pretty much ALL the public servers with 1-3 people online late evening will very often kick a stranger within a few minutes of joining you might get to play for 10 - 12 minutes but often NOT Note: the other thing these "one person servers" do is turn the server OFF when the admin is not playing (how 'private' can you get and still be 'public hive'?) I live in France - Boneboys knows the situation here. Look back through the threads, people - I have spent plenty of effort and research anbd time on this subject. I have reported abuses. I know exactly how many people investigate abuses, per SP, per continent. I know their names, I know what they do, I know the hours they work, I know their job descriptions. I have written whole essays explaining what happens, and WHY it happens. You guys DO realise that for each SP there is ONE person in Europe with a job description that MIGHT let him check if an admin is acting BAD ?? You do REALIZE the ONE STAFF has Other Stuff to Do and his job description says "deal with paying clients", and the player who complains is NOT a paying client ?? You do realize the GUY is NOT at work in his OFFICE after 7pm in the evening, so he is NOT CHECKING ANY ABUSES AT ALL during normal playing hours ?? == I asked those specific SP employees - very politely, by name - to join in these forum discussions, but not one took up the offer But yes, PLAYERS, sure, keep sending in the complaints.. this IS YOUR GAME. And In the meantime read back through the forums and see why and how this mess got started UNDERSTANDING the problem is the Only Way anyone can begin to make it better. The problem is NOT bad admins, the problem is how they are policed. xx WHY
  21. hmmm..so what is a "one person server" exactly ?? xx [edit: Answer = it is a server where the dude kicks everyone else who tries to join]
